I spent $2600 out of pocket to have my cataract replaced with a Vivity lens that was supposed to give me good distance vision and decreased halos at night. What I got was an eye that cannot see clearly from 6 feet+. What happened? The doctor said that he made the decision to make my eye nearsighted because I had lasik surgery 20 years ago. This new plan was NEVER discussed with me prior to my surgery. I would have never approved this, as i wanted clear distance vision and was prepared to wear glasses for reading. What I'm left with is vision that requires glasses for ALL distances! And the lens cannot be removed and replaced. So I'm out of $2600 plus I have poor vision. I pursued a second opinion from an expert doctor in another town and he said that he would never have put a Vivity lens in my eye. And to make it all worse, Cornerstone recommended laser to remove scar tissue on my lens capsule. This was a simple procedure and I had not yet received my Second Opinion. Following that surgery, I had absolutely no improvements in my vision AND I had a negative side effect of increased floaters and a dangerous side effect of increased eye pressure and a chance of retinal damage and loss of vision! (Vitreous prolapse). At my followup for the laser surgery Cornerstone did not even talk to me about the vitreous prolapse! Stay away from Cornerstone Eye Associates! They did not listen to my wishes (which were clearly charted) and they did not take responsibility for my botched eye that is permanent! read more

Weird customer service as far as scheduling and reminders. When I made my initial appointment, they told me they would send text reminders. They never did. I asked the next time I went in and the woman looking up my info said I had requested NOT to be contacted for some kind of safety/privacy thing. I told her that wasn't accurate, so she changed it and assured me I would get a reminder text about my next appointment. I again, received no text, but did get a phone call telling me I missed an appointment. Be very careful with their "guarantee after LASIK" I had my surgery and then had to come and see the doctor for a complication. The doctor recommended I use the same drops I was given after surgery. The issue cleared up but to my surprise I received a bill for the visit. I contacted them many times saying this issue was clearly from the surgery as I had never had any eye issues before besides needing glasses. The office says it "wasn't lasik related" and has referred the bill to collections and THEN kicked me from the practice! I am extremely concerned that they aren't upholding their agreement from a 2000$ surgery. Go somewhere else for your LASIK. read more

Had an appointment right before Christmas referred for a cataract - everyone from scheduling to the front desk to the techs and doctors were fantastic! When I called I was clearly told to expect the appointment to last 2 hours, and they were exactly right (I was there from 10am to noon exactly). Had a wait time of about 10 minutes after check-in, then in through the different screenings and testing with minimal waits in between. When Dr. Hanuch came in, he was thorough and patient, took his time to make sure I didn't have any other questions and gave me a clear timeline and information. Then speaking with the scheduling coordinator, I again got exemplary service when scheduling appointments for cataract surgery and clear answers to all my questions. Overall I was very pleased, and would recommend highly! Next step is the pre-op and surgery, and I already feel very prepared with all the information I was given - I'll review that experience separately when it happens! read more

My husband who had an eye appointment was met by extremely rude and uncommunicative staff. The other location was very accommodating to move his appointment to the Brighton location, but it all went downhill. There was NO communication whatsoever. They dilated his eyes, which was not communicated before hand or when the doctor did it. He ended up stranded and I had to leave work and come get him. Overall, we are very frustrated with the complete and utter lack of communication, and we will not be returning. If I could give it zero stars I would. Please be better and actually communicate what you are doing with your clients before and during the appointments. read more

Had an 8:30 appointment at the Sawgrass location, finished preliminary eye tests by 8:45 and sat in the waiting room until 9:30 and still was not seen by the doctor. Was told by the front desk after I decided to leave and cancel my appointment that I should have planned on being there for about 2 hours. So ridiculous. Have a little more consideration for peoples time. If I was late or missed the appointment I would have been charged though. Will never recommend them. Very unprofessional. read more

I had a 2 PM appointment yesterday at the Buffalo Rd. location, didn't see the doctor until 4:15. Prior to actually seeing the doctor, I was handled by at least 5 other staff, many of whom performed the same screening activities as the others, and I was shuttled between 4 different waiting or exam room befrore seeing the doctor. I believe the doctor only apologized for the excessive wait time beacause I had complained to two different tech staff. When finally seen by the doctor, the visit lasted about 10 minutes. This was the most recent of several appointments at Cornerstone. Obviously, the management schedules as many appointments as they can for maximum profit with littler regard for their patients. This practice is very unprofessional and shows a lack of concern for patients. My OD referred me to Cornerstone eye specialist for a Melanoma on my eye. I made an appointment 3 months ago and when I showed up at their office I was told that my appointment was pushed 3 weeks later. No one from their office called to verify if I'd be ok with rescheduling, they just rescheduled me without my consent or knowledge. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she took no accountability and showed a complete disregard for the the time I took to drive there and the afternoon I took off of work and stated they sent the reschedule in a mail. I have NEVER heard of this type of practice, where changes to reservations are made without informing patients first, they had my number and could have called just as they did to schedule the initial appointment. Don't go here, if they show such little care and compassion for your time imagine the type of care they will provide to your eye. read more

I went to this office looking for new glasses. I had my eye exam performed at their Irondequoit office but didn't see any frames there that were what I was looking for. I was told to try the Gates location since they had a larger selection of frames. The optician that assisted me was condescending and mean. She made me feel awful about the whole experience. She pushed very hard for the designer (more expensive) frames even though I had found another pair that I liked. When she calculated what I would owe after my insurance coverage was used, it was very secretive and she couldn't give me a definitive answer. She told me to pay half now, she'd figure it out later, and I would pay the remainder upon pickup. When I got home I felt like the whole thing was like a bad used car salesman experience. I felt like I had paid too much and not received what I really wanted. I called them and asked them to cancel my order. They did refund my credit card. Buying glasses should be a relatively fun experience. No one wants to feel belittled while they are shopping. read more

I did not have a good experience here. I went for a free Lasik consultation. After determining I was not a candidate, they told me I have a condition that causes pressure to build up in your eye and I needed laser surgery in both eyes to correct this. I was told they needed payment prior to the procedure. I tried to pay, there was massive confusion on how much it was and they wouldn't take my payment. We were also quoted a price for the surgery center, which we paid day of the surgery. Returned to Conerstone for follow up the day following the surgery, made a payment (turns out it was the wrong amount). I also asked for a copy of my prescription....they wouldn't give it to me because it was part of the "free consultation". Turns out the amount of the quote they provided and I was charged for the surgery was incorrect, and we had to pay an additional $400! I returned to the office for my final appointment. Arrived for an 8am appointment at about 7:55am. I was told someone would be right with me, I waited till 8:20 and told them I was leaving. I have not received any contact from them. Everybody from the doctor and nurses to the staff were amazing. Each one had every answer to my questions and made me feel very comfortable which is important for this type of procedure. Went there with appointment to see one doctor but was examined by another doctor who was very fast. Gave me the feeling that he was in a hurry and did not want to be there. He did not complete the exam because he saw a problem and wants me to see a surgeon for a consult. But told me its not urgent. I have worn glasses and contacts since I was in the 7th grade. I started to become intolerant of my contacts with dry eye and irritation. I thought that LASIK was a great solution for me. Cornerstone Eye surpassed all of my expectations. The staff and physicians were kind, friendly and answered all of my questions. The office is very efficient and wait times were reasonable. I had my surgery about 2 months ago. After my surgery I went home to take a nap, and when I woke up 3 hours later I could read the tiny clock from across the room. Now my vision is 20/15!! If you are considering getting LASIK surgery, I would absolutely 100% recommend Cornerstone Eye Associates. I have been going to them for my routine eye exams for several years now, but never once was I pressured into getting laser correction surgery. When I brought up my interest, they provided me with a packet of information at an information session, and a discount as well! I met with Stephanie (the LASIK coordinator) a few times and she was absolutely amazing to work with. She was very fast to communicate responses and made me feel extremely comfortable. The technicians and Dr. Hannuch were incredible as well. During the procedure, Dr. Hannuch explained to me everything that was happening and what to expect next. His manor was professional, yet warm and approachable. My post-op appointments with Dr. Chaisson have been great as well. Cornerstone is not just a LASIK center. They are a family eye care center and you can tell they care about their patients. I would definitely recommend them for any eye care needs. read more

Dr. Chaisson is excellent. He is very personable and spends sufficient time with the patients. However, this practice's billing procedures are not customer friendly. I was required to pay $280.00 up front for my eye exam when my insurance's negotiated rate was $170.00. Since our deductible had been met, we actually only owed them $35.00. They will not refund our money until they get payment from the insurance company even though they were aware of the amount owed to them when I called. Cornerstone's excuse: They don't know what the negotiated rates are. What kind of business doesn't know what their fees are? NONE of my other provider's operate this way. They are well aware of what my negotiated amounts are and have never charged me more than that. They also check to determine if my deductible has been met and know what my co-insuarnce amounts should be. Cornertone is unwilling to do put forth that much effort for their patients. I've been a customer for several years, have always paid my bills, and now will be finding another practice to meet my family's eye care needs. read more
