When we purchased our home we carpeted 2 rooms, replaced flooring in 4 rooms. Needless to say we spent a large amount of money. I should have just threw the money out my front door. 1st after ordering they did not have what I wanted.... The day they were suppose to come and install the carpet and flooring before the furniture arrived. Should have been my first clue. After installation finally took place the seams were noticeable in both the carpeted rooms- the guy came out and said it was the way I was vacuuming my carpet. The flooring was popping up in a few of the newly floored rooms, the guy cut the edging so the connection was right in the middle of the floor, which was not even. He came back to fix the said issues & he said there was nothing he could do about the eye sore being in the middle it was only size edging came in. Both carpenter & floor guy had to use google translate they did not speak English. I was told by Empire they had to have a second chance to make it right. Two years later carpet looks like it is 10 years old & 3 of the 4 rooms the flooring needs to be replaced. It amazes me...the workmanship is poor & the quality of their product is even poorer. But yet- Empires website has 5 stars on every review. Find yourself an old fashioned reputable family company. I wish I had known someone at the time. read more

Nearly 4 years after wood floor installation, the floor in the first floor began to peal and lift. They day is water. During the installation they told me that if jave wet shoes, or drop water, just use a towel and nothing would happen. Also they don't have more parts and/or having hard time to replace their own material. They gave me one price to fix it and then, for there reasons they bump 15 dollars more and call me saying I would to have wait around 2 weeks to have the parts. Avoid them. Material is poor and what they say is not what the material is supposed to support. read more

We had a salesman come he did the specs on our porch which has two inswinging doors to the outside we showed him how we were concerned because the doors dragged on the carpet that was glued to the cement he said no problem. Halfway through the install Steven the staller said your doors aren't going to swing in anymore it's too high. I have absolutely no complaints about Steven he did a wonderful install job Great guy. We called customer service after Steven was done explain how neither the doors will fit anymore and could they recompense us something towards the new doors. Basically you're told read your contract we can't do anything. So here is a business that will word their contract anyway they have to, to get out of fixing anything or stand behind their jobs. Nice way to treat senior citizens on a fixed income.. do not and I repeat do not go with Empire Today. They don't know how to spec a job, they sent us one man to install it that lived over two and a half hours away he had to come back for two days to finish it by himself though he did a great job. read more

I had high hopes going into the process to replace all flooring. Unfortunately, the first day of installation was cancelled because they didn't have the equipment to remove the floors because it was labeled incorrectly. I was advised a refund would be offered for the inconvenience. I refused the extended warranty but was still charged for one even after cancelling it. They wouldn't lay the floors unless I overpaid and waited for a refund. Then I was told a refund wouldn't be given. Spoke with a Caroline (Account mgr). She gaslit me into thinking this was "not their normal business practice". Looked through the account and said I was due a refund of around 850 dollars. Then she fell off the planet and didn't return my calls. 4 weeks now and no sign of a refund. Will absolutely never work with Empire. Too bad too because I flip houses. I will continue to push for the refund! Someone needs to call me back! read more

Unprofessional, no accountability, procrastinators, deceivers, manipulators. If you are looking to purchase floor from Empire, please do yourself a favor and get quotes from other flooring places. Do not sign and/or commit until you get other quotes. Should you decide to purchase from empire, do not sign anything until after you have thoroughly inspected the installation, your furniture, walls, doors, baseboards, basically everything that they moved in order to do the installation. Many times work sub par. Crews for carpet could not speak English. I had to mention what I had seen when sliding doors was cutting into carpet. We were going to do laminate and they brought out a lower grade than we ordered. We declined. Quit working with this company. read more

This review is for Empire Today in Orlando, Florida. Jennifer Welsh visited my home for a consultation, where I specifically requested solid plank stair treads--a single piece for each stair top with a white riser. However, when the installers arrived, they brought two pieces for each tread instead of the single, solid piece I had asked for. I was assured that the two pieces would blend seamlessly and that there would be no issues. Unfortunately, the pieces do not fit together smoothly; the seams are visible, and the treads are not flush. The stairs look terrible. I contacted Jennifer to express my dissatisfaction and was informed that Empire Today does not offer solid plank stair treads, despite my clear request. For nearly $12,000 to cover just 700 square feet, I am left with stairs that look awful. It seems Empire was only interested in making the sale, disregarding my specific request and misleading me. Do not trust them. I would like to address the installers who were lead by Alex Cassimiro #15577. I would give them 5 stars. They were extremely professional and answered all my questions. Him and his team took the time to carefully move my furniture and put it back when they were finished. There was no damage to my home or furniture. read more

Had carpet and engineered stone installed from them. they used my oven as a saw horse so all the glass got deep scratches. The installer also got red chalk all over my white sofa. I was asked to get it cleaned and get an estimate for the stove and they would reimburse me. I have not seen a dime nor have they fixed my glass stove top. in addition the carpet seams are all showing and big gaps by the wall. called many many times only for the customer rep to tell me someone will call me back in 25 hours and we do not get a call. This has been going on for several months and we are now talking with a lawyer. Do not use them! They do not honor their warranty! read more

I had vinyl flooring installed in my house approximately 4 years ago. The floor wasn't installed properly when they put it down, but the installer assured me that it was going to flatten out over some time . He told what to use to clean the floor, so I did. My floor started coming up ,one side lifted up. I call they to come and fix it. They said to send them pictures . I did. I was told it would cost me $300.00 to fix. When they came out, they said that the floor was installed wrong and wanted to charge me $300.00 just for telling me I had to replace the whole flooring for around $3,000. They sent 2 installers to my house that I couldn't communicate with because they didn't speak English. This is the worst company that anyone can use. The use contractors and each contractors have their own price. You're not using Empire to do the work Company to do the work. They just use their name to get work. Had carpet put in on the stairs and bedrooms up. Great job ! The floors downstairs, I bought the wood laminate. All they do is snap,crackel, pop, and because of that, the house sounds CHEAP. I could never sell it without taking the floors out. Empire does NOT answer the phone at all. I have called for months. I left message after message. I said, just pick a day/time and tell me. I get NOTHING. I wasted thousands of dollars on something that now I have to rip out. Do not waste your time and money. Too bad I paid cash. read more

I wish I would have researched this company's reviews before spending almost $8,000 for only 4 small rooms and a small hallway of flooring. We set up a meeting and wanted carpet or laminate flooring. Somehow during the sales process, we were convinced to buy Vinyl flooring instead. I can only guess that Empire and the sales person were pushing Vinyl because it results in a higher profit margin for the company and/or sales person's commission because from a quality standpoint, I can tell you that what they sold us was is pretty bad. Nevertheless, we were convinced to buy something other than what we wanted and we were convinced based on a sample that conveniently did not show what the end of the locking mechanism looked like for each board. I say "conveniently" because the end locking mechanism is so thin that when I finally saw it on delivery day, I immediately knew I did not want this product. Yet, for some reason, Empire decided not to show that portion in the samples. IN other words, Empire arguably concealed the cheapest looking part of the product they sold us by not including it on the sample piece. They try to justify this by arguing that they cannot carry entire boards around for all product. Yet, no one asked them to do that. All I asked that they show the most important part of the samples (the end locking mechanism). This stuff is so bad its like walking on a tarp. Furthermore, instead of showing you arguably the most important part of the material (i.e., the lock that holds it together at the ends), Empire shows you what the middle of the material would look like if you cut it open. Why in the world would someone need to know what the middle looks like and why would they show you the middle instead of the end locking mechanism? One theory is that they do this so that you wont see how cheap looking and fragile the material really looks. Other theories are smoke and mirrors, concealment, disguising, etc. I spoke with corporate about the issue and, like I said, her answer was more or less just, "well, we cannot carry around entire pieces." But she did not have an answer for why they can't just carry a small piece that has arguably the most important piece to the material on it for inspection prior to sale. Alas, it is what it is I guess. I now have what I consider overpriced cheap floors that I did not want, all because Empire chose to show me what the material looks like in the middle if someone sliced it in half instead of what holds the front and back of the pieces together. Lesson learned: Find out what they are charging per square foot and price the same material out at Lowes. You will be SHOCKED!!!!! read more

Horrible customer service. I can't say it enough. I had a repair scheduled for Monday, they didn't show up or call. I called them and they scheduled me for Wednesday, first thing. Again a no show. I called customer service and was told the installer would call me back. You guessed it, no call back. When you call their 800 number you are put on hold for at least a half hour. Their agents must work from home because when I was able to talk to one. His child got on the phone and started talking. He thought it was funny. By now I wasn't seeing much to laugh at. RUN! DON'T WALK! Empire promotes THE CHEAPEST FLOORING & CARPETING EVER! 3 MONTHS NEW, MY CARPET LOOKS 10 YEARS OLD & WORN DOWN! NOT STAIN RESISTANT PER WARRANTY. I tried to spot wash my carpet with a floor machine & the spots still show. I called the company to look at my carpet & installation, and told they me would send the fibers to Mohawk for testing. I received a phone call 10 days later telling me I bought cheap carpet & they would do nothing! I was originally told at contract signing that I had a 5 year warranty! THIS CARPET IS TRASH! I never expected my carpet to look this bad in only 3 months!!! I am disputing the money on my credit card. The kitchen flooring is ok, but inexpensive and acceptable. read more

We had tiles installed in our closets and while the installers did a good job, it turned out that they put different tiles so the two closets are not the same. When we contacted them to let them know, they said there was nothing they could do as the tile was already down!! So obviously, they do NOT stand by their product or work and don't care about customer service. They return calls when they want the sale but then ignore the customer when there is an issue.
