Had a rep name Tom come out and gave us a qoute but was caught just making up numbers. He could not tell me what I was buying and only showed me 3 options of carpet. Despite his horrible service I called and said I would like to move forward and asked if he could send me the total amount so I can know how much money to have. He told me he would send me a email later but was busy at the moment. Next day comes, I got nothing! I called customer service and explained I want to move forward with a install and could they send a new rep to complete everything. They came on time and were very friendly, and the actual installation itself looked good. However I wasnt expecting 2 smaller 10x11 bedrooms and 1 master 16x12 to take almost 4 hours. Then when it came time for clean up I found out that they dont dispose of the old carpet. After I brushed off that inconvenience, I realized that they didnt have shoe covers on and there were leaves and carpet fuzz EVERYWHERE. They said their vaccum was broken so they couldn't clean up. Oh okay, just let me take care of that for you... UH NO. Have you heard of a broom? they've been around for hundred of years. Brand new carpets looking used before the installers even walk out the door. We had carpet installed and within 2 months it started fraying at the seams and along the walls. By six months it started coming fraying everywhere. The carpet we had installed was recommended by the Empire sales person. She said it was better quality then the one I wanted. Now it's bubbling from poor installation. Empire Today REFUSES to admit the carpet is defective and they blame my Shark Vacuum for making the carpet fray. Would not recommend. read more

Adored the salesman. After he left, the rest of the process was a nightmare! I paid in advance in May. Cancelled the order in July because the carpet still hadn't been installed. I am leaving a one star because that's the lowest you can rate something here, but they deserve much lower than one star. Working with Empire has been one of worst experiences of my life. As a company I don't know how they exist. They are quick to take your money. And offer zero customer service. Our installation was delayed a month waiting for stair nose pieces only to get them in and they do not fit at all. They offered no solutions. As of today I cannot give any positive reviews. 3 weeks ago they came & measured for carpet. Said they would install following Sat but I had a prior engagement so put it off 1 week. They showed up said they didn't have enough carpet for stairs. Asked them to at least install carpet in bedroom. They refused with lame excuses. Contacted the salesman next day. Was told he'd check on it on Monday. Never heard anything back so I assumed they would show up this morning. Finally contacted them to find out when they were coming. Long story short, after 3 hrs find out they weren't coming today. Don't know when they will come. Apparently a miscommunication was told. Still no answer till maybe Monday or Tuesday. They have the worst customer service not professional give customers the run around. Have to call numerous times and leave messages before you get a call back or if you get a callback. One manager at the Dallas location who is rarely available. Had laminate floors installed less than a few ago. 1st crew didn't not check before they left to make sure my front door had clearance to the floors as to opening and closing. I found out a day later when I opened the front door and noticed it was scratching the floors. Call Empire right away and got the run around. Wanted to charge me for more materials and a fee to have someone come out to replace. After continuing calling and complaining materials and fee was waived. Once I have the door shaved down called them back and they will send a crew out to replace as they claim a "courtesy to the customer ". NOT!!! Sent out a 2nd crew to replace floors. They refused to. Said door was still scratching floor and the door sweep need to be removed before they could repair floors. 2nd crew also advised it could be buffed out. NOT! Funny the 1st crew didn't have a problem with the original door sweep. New door sweep put on when door was shaved down so why 2nd crew have a problem with it! No good to call the Corp office. Once you call the only options you have are you need the extension or a name to move forward. Well good luck with that because customer service said they can't provide that information because they don't know. What kind of "suger honey ice tea" business is this!! I'm closing on my house the first of next week they have rescheduled me for a appointment 8/16?? This needs to be done before then!!!! claim they have no openings sooner. I paid for the job in full and I wasn't there to do the walk-through I had an adult at the house. Let's just say they left a whole lot of things unfinished I called them right away to point these things out and they make me feel like I was trying to get extra things done that I hadn't paid for. Spoke to 4 supervisors and none of them followed through with the situation or called us back as promised. After doing our due diligence and checking prices and getting quotes, we decided on Empire Today, and are thrilled we did. Besides the great price for the great product, the installation team was the best! I've dealt with carpet people at least 4 times in the past, and was always taken aback at the people they sent to intall it. Rough, unclean-looking, non-English speaking, apparently drug addled, frequent break takers -- you name it, they've sent it. But this company sent me three guys that represented this company in all positive ways! Clean, pleasant, hard working, competent, and a well oiled team they were. I don't understand why the other companies don't realize that the installers are the face of their company, and can make or break their reputation, but at lease Empire Today does, to my great pleasure :) read more

My husband and three children recently moved into a new (to us) home and unfortunately the carpet was a disaster. With one living room that had blueberry blue carpet and the other living room with urine stains and just a terrible animal smell. I called empire today on a Saturday afternoon and was set up for a consultation the following Monday. Rashad was the employee who made the long trek to Crosby and was a very friendly and informative employee. Between my rowdy kids and dog, we were able to select a carpet together. My install was to be set for just two days later (awesome!). The morning of the install I had an employee call to let me know their eta (I unfortunately can't remember his name). Two men came out and quickly and effectively ripped out both rooms of carpet at lightening speed and installed in just a couple hours. I'm very pleased with the outcome of my carpet installation and the pricing I was given. I'll forever recommend Empire Today! read more

so at the beginning it was great, the lady showed up when she said she would so we could look at all the samples, the lady herself was very informative, then came D-day, as thats what it felt like for the 4 days +, the installers were there for a job that should have taken the most or best part of 3 days took 4+. We were told the installers would be around early in the morning, so we thought about 7-8am. They eventually showed up just after 12 noon (day1). We had already moved nearly all the furniture ourselves so they only had to move the fridge an cooker, so we could help them get a good start. Anyway when they arrived they did nothing but talk about how bad the previous flooring was (this is why were replacing it, derr), this went on for a good couple of hours, by 2 pm they started to unload their tools and begin taking up the front room flooring (600 square feet), this now being around 5pm, they stopped and said they would be back the next day, REALLY early to start on the kitchen, why they could not finish getting up all the old flooring we do not know. So day 2, they again arrived at around 12 noon, (this is 7am apparently to them), again after a lengthy talk about how old the flooring was and how good a floorer he was, and that he'd been doing it for years(the guy looked in his early twenties), they began to rip up the old floor. Again 530pm came around and they said they would be back EARLY again in the morning to level out the floors, so far it had taken 2 days to rip out old flooring which was about the size of about 900 sq feet. 3rd day, and no one turns up at 12 noon, but they decide to turn up at about 130pm. All of the 3 days they had been here they were putting the blame onto the company, bad mouthing them saying it isn't there fault about there lateness, they have to travel etc etc...anyway, on this day they leveled out the floor only, not having enough leveler they now have to come back for a fourth day, bare in mind they haven't even started the flooring yet or the base boards. when we told them we wanted it done within the 3 days has promised they had nothing but excuses, we then called the head office and they were has much help has a chocolate fire guard. The communication with this company and its contractors is very very bad, other than the flooring itself which we chose which is nice, the rest of there, work ethic, communication, honesty and reliability is just down right non existent. I have wrote abit about this company and their contractors (not employees, who they said would be out to do our flooring), they are just the middle man, so be very wary of those contractors, im not saying all were bad but 3 out of the 5 we got sent, im pretty discusted with. there is alot I haven't put on here yet because they have been back recently to fix another issue, but again a bad experience, I wanted to keep this has short has possible aswell. All I can say is please be very careful if you have to use this company, other wise my advice is to stay well away if you don't want the head ache of booking extra days off from work, sub par work man ship, sometimes rude and thoughtless contractors who don't give a damn about the customer. We will definitely NOT be going back to this company for anything more, like the bedrooms we need doing, and if we're possible, I would give this company 0 stars but you have to put 1. So please think twice or more before going to them for work you need doing. Dont do what we did and not do our homework on them, we really regret that. Anyway hope this helps. read more

We used these guys for a kitchen floor in a different house about 14 years ago and thought we'd go again since they were good... back then. They insisted a salesman come out and do "professional" measuring of the space we wanted to re-carpet, which was one bedroom and adjacent game room. We told the salesman that we needed the carpet installed within the next 2-3 days, and he said that wasn't an issue. They came out two days later, a Saturday, and the English was so poor with the installation crew that the head person was using some kind of translator on his phone to tell me they couldn't finish the job that day, but three days from then because they didn't have enough carpet. I could not decipher if they made a mistake in picking up the amount of carpet needed or the measurements were off from the "professional" salesman. I didn't mind paying almost 50% more than their competitors so I could get the job done when I needed it complete, but they couldn't even get that right. I've lost several days because of Empire's lack of knowledge in what carpet is needed or measuring a room. On the plus side, I found a much better price (almost $1,000 less than Empire) for comparable product and the company has promised they can install it by Monday, before Empire even knows how bad their salesman is and installation screwed up. Too many better options, don't let the BS of their "reputation" fool you. They couldn't even respect their own reputation with having such an amateur hour of help representing them. Too many better options who want to earn your business, so spend the 10 minutes and find them before settling on Empire Today and risking who else knows trying to rely on these guys. read more

ZERO stars from me....Wish I had seen these reviews before calling this place for a quote!!!! Was a complete waste of time. Long story short, I'm MOVING and want new carpet installed before putting the house on the market. I called a local carpet company and a general contractor who both gave me quotes in the same range. I assumed the local carpet guy was jacking up the price which was confirmed when I got a quote from the GC or "middle man" who charges more just because of the nature of his job. So, I called this company assuming they would give us a better price since they are specialists and probably have a huge supply which equates to better prices. Moe showed up to give a quote as the packers were here and boxes everywhere. He tells us we called at the right time because this was the last day of their 50% off sale and that we were going to save a lot of money. We only have carpet in 4 bedrooms, stairs, and game room upstairs. He told me that was 1700 square feet which is a crock of poo. The actual square footage of these rooms is 1100 sq ft so he's assuming greater than 50% waste which is absurd. He pulls out his so called "savings worksheet" and starts calculating some figures. No kidding, I LOL at the first which was supposed to be 50% off. Regular price was $11,750 on sale for $5,875. Second was on sale for $5,595. He explained that these were top of the line carpets with transferable lifetime warranties. Apparently, it slipped his mind that we were moving (with a house full of packers or boxes), nor did he pay any attention to the carpet that was being replaced which is referred to as "builders grade". I explained once again that we were moving, and that we didn't have "top of the line" carpet while we lived here for 7 years so why would we put it in for the next person???? Needless to say, I asked him to quote me on his cheapest carpet or whatever he has that's comparable to what's being replaced. This is where things took a turn for the worst. So the cheapest carpet turns out to be $6,738....$1k more than the so called top of the line. Why and how could a carpet specialty store stay in business when their cheapest product is more than 3 times the cost of their competitors??? I told him this price was absurd, that we'd received 2 other quotes for $1800 which he agreed to match. Are you serious? I asked him how he could come down from almost $7k to $1800? He said they have a price match guarantee, but how can you stay in business if you are so called "losing money" in this case almost $5k by matching the competitors price? I'm a very patient person, but I have no patience when it comes to scammers, deceitful and distrustful people or businesses. If he would have come in and given us the same price as the others upfront he would have had our business johnny on the spot. But no way no how will you quote us the price of a decent used car and then come down to the price of a decent used bike and expect us to bite!!! Stay away is my advice to others...I'll never call them again or recommend them to anyone I know. read more

I went through Empire, because they claimed they "warranty" their products, which other places do not. However, that is a LIE! I have gone round and round with this company to uphold their warranty on flooring. My floors were only 10 months old and I paid over 4K, the flooring they sold me that they claimed was waterproof/resistant, is not, without even looking at my floors they claimed a $300 credit was approved to replace them. $300 where did they even get that number from? When I called back to find out how they came up with that number without even looking at my floors, I was told that was a minimum amount and anything else would need to be submitted after the inspection. Inspector came and said the whole flooring would need replacement because once they pulled up the first planks the rest would go with it. They are only offering $300 to replace the whole flooring I paid over 4K on. Do NOT buy from this company, they do not warranty their product as claimed. Go buy from Lowes or Home Depot and have them install the flooring. read more

Salesman came out Thursday, July 5th. We need to replace the bedroom carpet in my elderly mom's house (flood damage). I made it clear that (1) I wanted the color to match as best as possible to the rest of the color in the house - which is tan, and (2) I needed it done that week. They said no problem. Laid some samples out on the floor and picked a really good match. They scheduled the install Thursday, but then I get a call Thursday morning that the carpet was never loaded on the worker's van so they have to reschedule. They re-scheduled the install Friday, but when he shows up the carpet is the wrong color (cream white - not even close). I get a text this morning (July 16) for install on Friday, the 20th. I'm calling to reschedule sooner or get my deposit back... I have now been on hold 34 minutes... read more

A few months ago we contacted Empire Today to get a quote on some flooring for our kitchen, family room and den. A Sales Manager and the Sales Person came to our home and showed different types of flooring and explained the quality of each material and walked us through the installation process. The day of installation was a little bit disappointing because the contractor did not cover furniture and television and because our home is an open floor plan, dust had spread to every room except bedrooms and bathrooms. Also some of the material that we chose was sent in the wrong color so contractor had to pick them up the next day..mistakes are made. We chose a natural color for the quarter rounds. Blended better with flooring that we chose. After two days of installation and furniture was put back in place, we noticed that some areas of the floor had a hollow sound and was uneven. My daughter contacted Turk Boyd, Installation Manager and shared our concerns and experiences with him about the new floor installation. Turk came out to our home and agreed that the some of the padding was missing, so he scheduled for new contractors to come back and pull up flooring and reinstall new padding, flooring and quarter rounds. The second contractor did an excellent job, but could not complete installation because the new quarter rounds was again the wrong color. We have tried to contact Turk Boyd to resolve this issue and unfortunately he is one of the worst manager in the world. He called once and call was missed, so I called him back several times and no response. Always go straight to voicemail. I have called customer service and spoke to several people. Even new account has been open in order for me to speak to another manager and nothing is being done about this situation. One day last week I spoke to Turk and explained to him that the reason we are constantly reaching out to him is because the quarter rounds that were sent, still was the wrong color. He began to tell me that he just returned from vacation and everything is being thrown to him and he doesn't have time to look up our account. Basically I told him that him that it is Not my problem that he is experiencing the overload of his responsibilities. I expect him to resolve this issue. Did not hear from him as promised. Going into the first stage of the project we had decided to complete the project with same material but we are VERY CERTAIN that we will NEVER allow Empire Today do anymore work in our home. I suggest that anyone that is planning a flooring project and comes across this company, really do your research before choosing this company to do ANY flooring projects in your home and LOOK for someone else. We have decided to search for others that does better quality of work and are HONEST and ATTENTIVE to their customers. A company that WORDS ARE THEIR BOND. I told him I would not show any of my estimate's prices but I did show him the carpet type and square footage of this carpet and the pad to help him. Would not recommend. The deal sounded great and we were excited to get started but the sales rep didn't tell us to check email for confirmation on starting so that was 1st delay. Once we got that ironed out, we re-scheduled but the workers never were contacted with our agreed date and that was second delay. At this point my wife was pretty heated and spoke to a "manager" who made promises like call back and exact times workers would show up only to find out someone between call center and workers decided to schedule another project ahead of us and was gonna have them show up late afternoon vs. 9am as promised. also, they use 3 different numbers to call you from. A 800, 877, and 866 area code and didn't tell us to expect a call also to confirm so it looks like spam calls that meld with all the actual spam calls that keep coming. it seems like there is a huge disconnect in communication between the offices and workers which is never a good sign. Do know if they contract the work to outside agencies but after repeated broken promises and appointments enough was enough. If you use them hopefully you have a better experience. read more

I got three quotes to have some flooring replaced in our kitchen, dining, and laundry rooms. Empire Today gave me the best quote, so good in fact that we decided to get both bathrooms done also. We set up the appointment for a Thursday. The installers came and stayed most of the day, about eight hours. We were told that they would be back the next morning, they had to go to the warehouse to get more supplies. He had me sign the paper even though I was told by the sales agent not to sign until the job was finished. The installer said they would be back next day. I waited until ten o'clock, before I called the customer service number. I was told my install had been rescheduled for Saturday. No one bothered to call me!! I was furious. I sent a text to the sales lady. She said she would check into it for me. A while later the install manager called and apologized and said the warehouse was short on some of my order. I said okay and waited until Saturday. By the time they got to my house, it was midday. They worked until seven pm. He said he would be back Tuesday to finish. Waited all day, never heard from them. Called the install manager twice. No answer. No call back. Finally at 3:00 the installer called and said he would be here in 45 minutes. He got here at 4:30. They finished at 7:00 . Wednesday I checked the work. Had to call the install manager back again. Only this time his cell number was on the paper work. The transition border from the dining room/living room was horrible and the same thing in the master bath. I texted him a pic and today , Thursday one week later, the job is finally almost satisfactory. I do not recommend Empire Today . That's not was the sales person told us when he was at our home making his sales pitch.... I spoke with sales person on the day of install.. Told him I was not confident in the look of the carpet. It looked cheap and was concerned it would not last and go flat after a couple months.. He said it was a great carpet and it would hold..If not, there was a 15 year warranty.. .. I can not even express the anger I am feeling about this so-called company. The sales consultant was good, she scheduled my appointment for installation for July 15th. I received no information from them about the time they would arrive. I called them to find out they had no one to install that day and would need to reschedule. They initially told me the earliest they could come would be on the 19th. I told them that was unacceptable because I was having some furniture delivered on Saturday, July 17th. I told them I needed to be the first appointment on Saturday. Of course no communication and they did not show. So today, July 19th, the day they said they could schedule it and low and behold when I called them, I learned they moved my install date to July 22nd. Keep in mind I had no communication from they at all. I sent an email to my sales person who said she forwarded it to the general manager. That appeared to be a waste of time because I have not heard from anyone. Their wait times are ridiculous, don't allow the system to call you back because no one ever does.
