I traditionally make baked stuffed lobsters…read moreon Memorial Day Weekend and this year, with six of us partaking, it was especially important to find lobsters that were high-quality and reasonably priced. I found both at Andrade's. I always shop around, and Andrade's prices were great - significantly lower than anything I could find in the area. The lobsters were properly feisty and Nick was very helpful, selecting six two-pounders for us with equal-width tails. (Important for presentation!) I remove the claws, par boil them, and add the meat to the stuffing. (An old trick I learned from Jed Hanley's Fore 'n Aft back in the day.) Although the claws' shells were thick, and actually required a hammer to crack them, I don't think I've ever gotten so much meat. I also bought a pound of peeled and deveined shrimp and a pound of excellent, fresh and sweet scallops for the stuffing. This year's result was among the best I've made. Ryan, Ben and Owen were all exceptionally helpful and personable. The steamers were the best sized, freshest and tastiest we've had in many years and the lobsters were just as great. Andrade's Catch is going to be our go-to seafood source from now on. Also, you may want to try the Stone Soup Kitchen Portuguese stuffies they have, they are also the best we've had in far too many years. There were a nice amount of unique local offerings I hadn't even heard of before - salt water taffy, chocolates, bulk frozen soups from Blount, etc. There are fresh options like a sushi bar and a small coffee area in the front. The big selling point of this store are those unique offerings, and the best bang for your buck are things they make fresh, breads, desserts, etc. I LOVE their fresh popped flavored popcorn and always have to grab some - just do it!!! Other than those standout features, I can't see myself shopping here regularly if not for those specific items, unless I really didn't want to travel far. It's a smaller store with less selection. Pricing is well above other similar stores - the mark up on a pantry item I picked up was double the price of the exact same thing at Target. Even their "sale" prices don't seem that good of a deal in most cases. They advertise a senior discount on Wednesdays. Self check out and cashiers are set up, but only self check out was open at 8 pm. I got a Clownshoes IPA that I sipped until they brought the food to the table. The portion size of the sandwich is monstrous! I could tell by the sauce drizzle that I was in for something special. The colors from the cabbage slaw in the sandwich provided a solid presentation. As I bit into the sandwich, it had the chew of tender fried chicken and the seitan had some wicked flavor. I grab a sunshine bowl with impossible crumble (seasoned tofu also an option) and came with plenty of flavor with its mix of seasoned veggies, brown rice, tortilla and lime herb dressing.
