This is seriously a hidden gem! One of the longest HH is the city from 4-7 M-F and 2:30-7 SS! How can you go wrong when you are in the French quarter and need a snack?! The Cajun sliders are amazing, we also tried the crab and corn fritters-yum and the pommes daulphine (cheese smothered fries). Sadly the fancy cocktails are not on special, but wine, beer and basic drinks are $5. Honestly, you can't go wrong. The atmosphere is classy and vintage and the bar is next to the courtyard so it's airy and light. I will definitely be back. read more

Hump day happy heure at Empire Bar. I had a very tasty Pina Colada ....but I don't suggest watching them make it. Coconut oozing out of a can isn't the prettiest picture in the world. Abs had some white wine that made her feel tipsy after the first taste (welcome to the SEC!). We had the Imperial Nuts for an appetizer. They're much better than the Royal Nuts! The serving size is enough for three in my opinion. Some were sweet and some were salty, it went well with my Pina Colada I recommend the combination. But only if you love pina coladas. This place is pretty quiet, definitely bring your inside voices when you arrive. Dress code is very casual though- the bathrooms are a bit dark, kinda creepy but... Home of the Ramos Gin Fizz, we came here to try this New Orleans classic drink. If you haven't had one, please do so immediately here or somewhere else. But mostly here where it was invented. We ordered four and the bartender served them up with a smile. So amazing that we did another round. It's a hard drink to make so we felt bad. We tipped well, and so should you! Now they have a happy hour with a selection of mussels, frog legs, rabbit, and other great things. Happy hour starts at 4pm, friendly staff Paul and Sean are the bartenders and always do a great job. After a verrry disappointing attempt at pre-dinner drinks across the street at the Bombay Club, we walked over to the bar in Broussard's. The Empire bartenders, Paul and Thomas, were great. Highly recommend this place! It's right off of Bourbon Street but it feels like a world away! It was such a nice escape from the chaos. It's a bit fancy but we went in wearing street close and the treated us with the upmost respect! We ordered Ramos Gin Fizz and the were delicious. We went back two days later because the bar tender told us about $6 absinthe during happy hour. He explained how it worked and made it in front of us. (It was better than the old absinthe bar on bourbon street and a 1/3 of the price) We had multiple mangers check on us and received amazing service. We also purchased happy hour appetizers that were delicious! I wish I remembered the bar tenders name because it was great! read more

This was a fancy and interesting experience. Make you're not just stopping in as a pregame for bourbon st. The dress code is classy so be sure to dress to impress, or a least look decent. Ah yes, come for happy hour! Those $3 pimm's cups are to die for and the bartender Paul is oh so charming. Stay for the mussel's and try all three varieties. My favorite ones are the spicy mussels. Such a beautiful bar and don' t forget to visit the outdoor courtyard as well. The list of cocktails are amazing and you better try some! The Letite de Onca is a must try with its cachaca "prata." Great place for well crafted cocktails at a Napoleon themed bar. If you're looking for loud noise and a party atmosphere, this isn't your place. The bar is small and very subdued. The focus is on the cocktails. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. I recommend the Napoleon Complex or the Ramos Gin Fizz (their highlight). If you're interested in a cocktail tour of the quarter, you should make this place one of your stops. read more

This place is simply amazing - I'm going out on a limb to say I found the best cocktails I have ever had here. My fiancée remembered Paul the bartender from a previous establishment, and found out he had moved to the Empire Bar at Broussard's. Amazing classic cocktails - we had a Sazerac, a Ramos gin fizz, milk punch, and he had some Absinthe (not my taste). The other bar staff all agree that Paul is very exacting about his cocktails - the right preparation, glass, garnish, presentation. We had the Oysters Rockefeller for a snack, really delicious - four perfectly fried oysters on a dish of spinach with cheese, served with fresh bread. After reading a review of the Empire Bar, in the offBEAT magazine for JazzFest, I wanted to try the Douce-Doucet drink, which is a special version of a Sazerac, made with pecan and Mexican chocolate infused bourbon, as well as Black Sambuca.
