I had been planning a trip to Bronx, and figured I'd get some good NY bagels while I was there. This place had a great rating on yelp, so I thought I'd give it a try. Well worth it. Bagels are great. Perfect texture, great flavor. Not much to add. I got a half-pound of the lox-cream cheese spread, and it was superb. Lots of lox in it. Great taste. Bagels are easy to find. They're everywhere. GREAT bagels, however, aren't on every corner. This place is a gem. And the prices are good, too. I will definitely go back when I'm up there. read more

The best bagels in the Bronx hands down - you can't beat them. Empire Bagels is the definition of no frills - they really don't have a storefront, all ordering is made via a walkup window. In addition to bagels, they have a number of different cream cheeses which are also very good. The bagels are made onsite, and like other Yelpers said there's something about getting them at the source which makes them extra special. My favorite is eating them within the same day of buying them, they're soft, chewy, warm, and delicious - I don't even need cream cheese or butter I'll eat it straight. Their selection is great too; plain, sesame, poppy seed, onion, everything, cinnamon raisin - they have most standard bagel flavors. I'm always happy eating a bagel from Empire Bagels, get a hold of these gems if you have the chance! read more

Run of the mill bagel joint in NYC. They do have the rainbow bagel which I liked (mostly to photograph) but still. Overall a decent selection and pricing but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it. Stay Cheerful ;) read more

I've always loved this spot! Been coming here since I was in high school, it's still my go to bagel spot. Only con is the location is the hardest spot to park but I love them so much that I don't care read more

Until a few months ago EMPIRE BAGEL was my favorite bagel spot in the Bronx but of late I've been disappointed. They seem to be rushing the 'cooking' process-the the regular size bagels are a pale to light golden color, sometimes just pale-as a result the bagel is gummy and the outside lacks the proper crunch that a bagel should have. I once got a half raw bagelI cannot comment on the mini as they run out of them very fast read more

Love their Bagels! Been coming here for years. Always fresh and hot out of the oven. Love the variety. There is always a line but it goes fast. Totally worth the wait. I've picked up a dozen bagels & put them in the freezer and even being in there for more than two weeks, the bagels when defrosted tasted like the were freshly made. They hold their taste long. Best bagels in the Bronx! read more

Excellent fresh bagels! Check their hours and get there early for the best selection.

One of the biggest menus I've ever seen in a bagel place. Everything is absolutely delicious and before you leave you already have the next thing you want to try memorized. Great staff at two of their locations I've been to so far and can't wait to keep coming back read more

Best bagels in the Bronx. May be the best bagels in NYC! Gotta be that bronx water!! You know the bagels are good when you walk up and there's 15 people standing on line outside in the cold, rainy or snowy days. Window service only. The bagels are perfect. Nice and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely worth braving the elements if your in the area read more

French toast bagel a must . Long lines are worth the wait . Fresh bagels - super friendly staff

The bagels are simply amazing. My cousins visited from Puerto Rico and we had bought bagels and cream cheese to make breakfast easy and quick. One cousin has asked us to look into overnighting them to him in Puerto Rico. read more

I have been going to get bagels there for years. It's delicious it's always been delicious. I highly recommend it.

This was not my first time coming to this place. Today though I walked away after rude service. When I asked for French toast bagel, I was told they didn't haven't it. I was calling my husband to see what would be his 2nd choice, he rudely told me to come back once I have my complete order. Once I came back, I had to wait for him to finish his conversation with another customer before he took my order. And while giving him my order, he walked away and I couldn't tell him I needed two coffees. When he came back and I tried telling him, he told me to wait as he walked away to take a call. At that point, i walked away. I refuse to give my money to rude customer service! They always have a long line so I guess they don't care about having good customer service! read more

Great bagels, great service. This bare bones true blue NY bagels. Nothing fancy, order at the window and go. They are busy in the mornings, so know what you want. I needed a box of Joe, but they couldn't accommodate me the morning I went. I was able to get a cup for myself and a dozen bagels for my co-workers. I apologized when I got to work that they were all on their own for coffee still giving 5 besides the no for coffee because the bagels are fantastic read more

i ordered a rainbow bagel fresh now maybe it's just me but common sense would be allowing a bagel to cool off before slapping cream cheese onto it ...i wouldn't ice a cake straight of oven ..i brought it back to them because it was impossible to eat n who ever the short man was at the window acted as if there was absolutely nothing wrong with creamcheese pouring out all over everything IT WAS LIQUID !!! He could of Offered a new bagel but his response was rude and unprofessional read more

There's very little I can say about this place that will actually do it justice. But if you're looking for the best bagel NYC can offer, this is the place. Nothing compares to one of their bagels, fresh and warm, with a little cream cheese. Absolutely heavenly! Expect a line when you go here, especially in the early morning. But trust me, it's worth the wait! read more

I heard about this place and was in the neighborhood. I got the pumpernickel bagel and the garlic herb cream cheese people were liking on yelp. Very good bagel, exactly what a bagel should be like, nice and chewy. The cream cheese was excellent too. You can see them making fresh bagels in the back, made right at the locations. I would definitely come back here again. read more

Came here because of Yelp raves. Bagels are sold out of the small unmarked black windows, not the deli at the corner. Got a sesame bagel w lox spread, set me back just $3. Service was friendly and cracked me up the way the guy just said "No" for the several things they were out of (whole wheat bagel, blueberry cream cheese). As other reviewers noted, bagel was fluffy. Like a roll, to me. Not my personal preference, but decent. Bagel was still warm, and mid-morning on a weekday, there was a stream of customers but no line. Ate it at the bus stop bench. Good breakfast for the area and the price but no atmosphere (at least not without others on line). I'd come again if I were in the area but wouldn't go out of my way. read more

This has always been one of my favorite go to places and the best bagels ever !!!when they talk about NY/da Bronx and our delicious breads this is about as real as it'll ever get..you won't be disappointed. Seriously I crave them!!! however, for some reason they're no longer serving them hot and it seems they're out of so many of my faves within the first hour they're open. Though I'm gonna still stick with 4 stars because again they are delicious and there is no better smell in the world when you're coming home from work at 5 AM than NY bagels on Westchester Avenue!!and again, during pandemic, things are not usual so hot or not, still the best hands down!! read more

Great morning bagel spot. The line is usually 10 people long but woth the wait. They make them from scratch and serve them hot out the oven. Better show up early because once they sell out,the day is over! They usually close before noon. read more

Service was Awesome, prices were great, bagels were fresh and made on site, it's a a convenient location too, right under the train tracks

Best bagels in the Bronx or really NYC! I have been coming here for a few years now and the quality of the bagels has only gotten better. Yes, they have limited beverages but you can just pop on in next door to the bodega. Window service only and people (including me) wait on line in the rain and snow. Get there early on the weekend to get your favorite bagels because they do sell out quickly. They're open from 5AM-12PM. The staff is so friendly and memorize your order quickly if you go there often enough! Love this establishment! read more

Just realized I never wrote a review for all the years I have been here. I mostly eat bagels as my breakfast since I was young. Out of all the places I tried in the bronx, queens, Long Island, Manhattan and Jersey, This place is my top favorite. This place has fresh bagels all the time! Every morning you will always see the workers making rounds and rounds of bagels. The bagel itself is big and doughy. They don't go lite on the cream cheese! They put a great amount of cream cheese, so every bite has that delicious flavor. My favorite to get is everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese. My boyfriend always mixed his up. Once in a while we will get coffee from them. It isn't my favorite, but it is not the worst I have tried. The price of the bagel is worth it. I alway recommend this place. Enjoy! read more

I've been living here for many years and have never had any issues but lately I have been so disappointed with the service! I brought a bagel with cream cheese and the cream cheese did not taste well. I went back and spoke to the mexican worker and he told me it was me! I told him I didn't want my money back or even another bagel! he was rude snatched the bagel from my hand, threw it in the garbage and walked away from me! this is not the first time that he's been rude, my son said he is rude to a lot of the customers. So sad because we love the owner Jay! definitely needs better customer service!! read more

This place has ruined my ability to enjoy bagels from other places. There's nothing like their fresh bagels!

Went yesterday for the first time and I'm back today. I can't believe there's a place better than bagels on bartow. This place is amazing.

I really like this spot all the workers are good just depends on what you tell them I don't like when they put so much cream cheese on my bagel and that happens usually when I don't tell them like today ugh, other than that the line remains long Saturday mornings outside regardless of the rain thanks read more

I just moved into the area and came across this spot on a Saturday morning. Based on the number of people waiting on line - I figured their bagels must be good if people are waiting in line. And I'm glad i did. Hands down - empire bagels has to be the best bagels in the Bronx ! The bagels are made fresh, on site, right inside. They open at 5am - 12pm 7 days a week. Fresh, soft and warm bagels. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is because it's a bagel stand - If they had an actual shop, to sit and enjoy their bagels - 5 stars for sure. But they don't need a shop - and better off that way - otherwise you'll be waiting for a seat for a long time. The best bagels in the area!!! read more
