Horrible food and customer service. Received a $40 order of food that stunk and was completely inedible. I called the manager and was told that there was nothing she would do and that they would not allow me to get a refund or replacement and I could not speak to the GM or owner. After calling their other branch, I had to leave a message for the GM to call me the next day....still no offer of replacing the food. Next day the manager calls me and refused to refund my money and thought that offering me a $40 gift card was "good enough". I don't even know where to begin... Ordered a family takeout meal, nothing spectacular or worth getting again, about as good as a store deli. Decided to try the wonton soup that came with the "E" family meal, and much to my surprise I found something hard.. I pulled it out of my mouth and my first thought was "chicken bone", upon further examination is was slightly bendable and I realized it was a broken FINGER/TOE NAIL. And NOT a small finger nail. About 1/3 an inch LONG. I wish I could throw up. But that was DISGUSTING and not something I would've expected to find in my food. All they did was offer a "credit" to be applied for our next order. But hell no will we be ordering again. CHECK YOUR STAFF. And to add, there is a DISEASE THAT HAS CAUSED A STATEWIDE QUARANTINE. I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews. I love this place, and the food is always good for me. I've been eating at EP all my life. Maybe it's because I always get take out? I've actually never eaten inside the restaurant. I always get take out. My favorite food here has got to be the Almond chicken, second favorite is the Lo Mein. The sweet and sour chicken here is excellent too. Again, I've never had a bad experience getting take out from here, they are always nice when I come pick it up. I keep hoping this restaurant gets its act together. It's been around for so many years and I don't know how they stay in business. The interior is horrible and so outdated that it looks like something out of an early 80's movie. Don't look up or you'll see the air vents that likely have never been cleaned. Yuck. Bland food and inattentive wait staff. We dined with another couple and we all ordered the same dinner option with varying degrees of spicy. I ordered a 4. I like spicy food! Unfortunately our waiter heard zero, because the greasy slimy food I received had no flavor and no spiciness. The other meals were spicy, but not mine. I couldn't eat it, and later in the evening I ended up with a very upset stomach from the few bites I managed to swallow. I received an apology and option of sriracha sauce or ask the chef to make me a new dinner. I refused both. Sriracha wouldn't have made it taste better, and its awkward to watch everyone else in your party eat while you wait for your dinner. I have been coming here for 30 years and it has always been my favorite Chinese restaurant in Olympia. However tonight practically ruined it for me. We were seated fairly quickly. But it was almost 20 minutes before we received water. It was another 20 minutes before our server came to take our order and other tables who were seated after us had already received their food. No big deal, maybe the server was on break... but when we received our order, half of it was wrong and the server didn't even stick around to offer to correct it until we finally flagged him down 14 minutes later and he didn't even the offer to do more than take the price of 1 item by half, which it turns out we were still charged full price. I had decent expectations for this place, but only to be let down. Although the pictures looked quite good, the food was by far the worst "chinese" food I've had. I ordered $30+ of takeout (Fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and general tsos). The fried rice was like eating gravel, the S/S chicken was dry and hard and the general tsos was just soggy and unappetizing. The only half decent that was edible was the packaged fortune cookie. My family only took a couple bites and had to throw it out. We've never ordered food that we couldn't get AT LEAST half way through. This "food" was just terrible. read more

Came on my lunch break, we always come here. The table behind us, got here about 10 minutes after us and they were served before us. It took 10 minutes to have the server come over. We ordered soup and our lunch from the lunch menu. It's now 12:12 and I have to be back at work at 12:30, they said that there was 5 dishes before us. And if we were in a hurry we need let them know. Ok so I see all the terrible review, and scratch my head?! I know having grown in grays harbor county, you would know good Chinese food. I have no complaints whatsoever. If your food is bland, use the condiments people!! We ate there today and I was very empresses with their service, the food portions where very large. Plus it was quite good. We didn't have anything that was bad. I highly recommend this place. Nice and quiet, peaceful. Good tea, good soup, almond chicken is the same it was 20 years ago. I am only giving four stars because I placed my order from California and wont actually be able to eat the food ;) My daughter just gave birth at St Peters and was starving! All she wanted was asain so I did a little research and found this place online. When I originally called to ask if i could even order from CA I spoke to Lacey- we were both a bit confused but she helped me work it out. Then my daughter didnt deliver till after closing! Called back today, got Lacey again and placed my order without a hitch! Lunch today was great. For $11 we got soup, almond fried chicken, pork fried rice, and veggie low mein. I was afraid of the Curry Chicken Broccoli soup - I usually don't like thick soups, and I never eat curry. It was GOOD! The chicken filet was very nice, thickly cut breast, gravy a bit salty. Noodles were thin and stir fried with a nice assortment of veggies. Rice was okay, but since I was getting full and my tummy was like valuable real estate, I dedicated the space to the noodle dish, soup and chicken, and took the rice to go for a late night snack. My only 'eh!' was that we were given a Lunch menu and not the full menu. In hindsight though, it was perfect for a first visit. Next time I'll go at supper and have the crispy beef and walnut prawns. read more

I went here last night after not coming in for a while and was excited because the other times I have gone it was good. We arrived at 6:20 and were patient and new they were busy since it was a Friday night. We got seated and ordered what not. It had taken 15 minutes to get soup, then they finally took our order then at around 7:10 we noticed people who had come in after us getting their food. At 7:20 a waitress came over and said the chef was making our food. Clearly had forgotten to put our order in. We finally got our food at 7:35. Service was terrible- and on top of forgetting to put our order in she was rude. We never made a scene or were rude to have her act such a way. We will never be returning and the Mongolian beef was a whole onion and 4 tiny pieces of meat. read more

I ordered the almond chicken at this location since I was told by friends that it was the best the store had to offer. That being said, I had started to worry mid-meal what would have happened to my body if I had ordered anything else. The meal was comparable to day-old, reheated McDonald's chicken nuggets when the bland "gravy" was not on the chicken. When it was, the taste was pretty much the same, only wetter. The almond pieces accompanying the chicken offered little to no extra flavor. Many pieces of the chicken were tough to bite, and even cut through with the utensils I was given. The pork fried rice that came with the meal was a sad excuse for rice in general. The pork that was supposed to come inside the rice was nearly impossible to find and offered nothing to the food. Additionally, my girlfriend had tried to order some tempura veggies, which are supposed to be fried with a coating, although what she had received appeared to be vegetables with hot oil poured over them briefly. Upon asking the hostess about them, she had apologized to us for the miscommunication which signaled to me that the staff in the back had no clue what tempura was since she had to go let them know. When my girlfriend had finished eating them, she soon had an upset stomach. The ONLY reason this review is getting two stars instead of one is because of the service provided by Anna, the hostess, who had actually taken the time to find out what we wanted and tried her best to get our orders right and understand our issues when we presented them. She was very friendly through the whole ordeal. This restaurant is hardly passable for Asian cuisine aside from the names of their dishes, and is close to the last thing I would recommend to a friend or family member. Very disappointed. read more

We've only ever gotten delivery, but both times we ordered online, it was relatively quick, and the food was great. The almond chicken is always my favorite, and they make it just like the place in my hometown did! I've become a big fan of the cashew chicken, too. The food in the main restaurant is horrible. Don't go. The SECRET is THE BAR. Saturday's they do free bingo and fresh amazing Steaks for $14.95. Which they cook to order on the bbq on the patio. To be frankly honest, I was excited to try their food after reading all of the bad reviews. I'm a big fan of bad Chinese. Anyway, the food wasn't horrible. I got the Sesame chicken and the flavor was good. The only thing I wasn't satisfied with was how drenched the chicken was in the sauce. It made my teeth hurt because of all the sugar. The chicken was drowning. The rice was good. Nice and moist with a good flavor. The portion size was HUGE, which is nice considering the price. and the staff was friendly. Have ordered out here many time over several years tonight I ordered the B diner for 3 for a total of 70$. Recieved food quickly almost to quickly. Food was Luke warm at best almond chicken was hard dry and chewy unediable. By far the worst food I have ever been served anywhere. I called to complain and was told they could bring me more chicken. That is all they could do. Manager was short with his words and rude at best. If this is the best they can do for an unsatisfied long time customer that was the last time the will recieve my business and I will be sure to use the power of social media to encourage all to dine elsewhere. I'm sure SOME restaurant in Olympia is worse than Emperor's Palace. Did the Crazy John's Catbox Cuisine over on Harrison go out of business? Oh, right, they never existed. We Hit You Lots With A Rotting Trout definitely used to be worse than Emporor's Palace, but the new owners have really slipped; sometimes they just use a regular old non-rotting trout and sort of bop you lightly with it, so I really can't count them. Bob's House Of Muffler Burns? Stacks O' Oreos On Fire? International House Of Haggis? BBQ Possumburgers? Hm, I'm pretty sure that if BBQ Possumburgers and International House Of Haggis existed, they'd actually be much tastier than Emperor's palace. In brief: lard in everything, without much other flavor, miscooked meat, sad to nonexistant vegetables, everything's weirdly sweet. Anyway, if you like oldschool Americanized Chinese food, like a lot of us East Coast kids grew up on, Tea Leaf II does it well, with plenty of white pepper like God intended, and South Pacific in Lacey and Fortune Cookie in Dupont satisfy without all that inconvenient longing for the sweet, sweet embrace of death. read more

The first time we ordered delivery from here was about a year ago. It was horrible. Nothing tasted like it was supposed to, "chow mien" was soggy vegetables with side of those crunchy Asian noodles you put on salads. It had been just long enough for us to forget how bad it was, and we were desperate for delivery dinner. Maybe, they had improved? Nope. There's been very few times that I have had to send food back in a restaurant, but I seriously considered calling to have the delivery guy return this horrific food. The one time I ate in the actual restaurant I thought, OK, average and relatively safe Americanized Chinese. Fine. Then we started ordering for delivery and each time the food has been sub-par. "With vegetables" seems to mean "with some variety of over-cooked squash and precious little else." We've ordered many different dishes trying to find the ones that don't come with a thick layer of slimey squash on the bottom of the container and had little luck. The orange chicken seems to be mostly safe, and so are the fried wontons. Otherwise stay away; it isn't worth the price. read more
