Came here hoping we could get some good tofu dishes. BOY WERE WE DISAPPOINTED. Our Kung Pao tofu smelled like cat piss and my sweet and spicy tofu was extremely over sauced. Egg rolls and tea were definitely the highlights of the meal. Go to Panda Express or anywhere else if you're looking for a good meal. read more

When we first moved to West Olympia, we were so excited to see that there was a Chinese Restaurant that delivered...just like on T.V....hahaha. We were so disappointed when we tasted the food. It all tasted like sweet and sour, even the Kung Pao. The vegetables didn't taste fresh. I had a terrible headache after eating it because of the sugar and salt overload. This is a sad example of Americanized Chinese food. read more

I don't understand why this place only has 2 stars lol. The food is fire af and anytime I order takeout they get here pretty quickly even tho I'm all the way in tumwater. The prices are pretty good for the portion sizes too. Thanks for being there whenever I need good Chinese food :) read more

I don't even know where to begin... Ordered a family takeout meal, nothing spectacular or worth getting again, about as good as a store deli. Decided to try the wonton soup that came with the "E" family meal, and much to my surprise I found something hard.. I pulled it out of my mouth and my first thought was "chicken bone", upon further examination is was slightly bendable and I realized it was a broken FINGER/TOE NAIL. And NOT a small finger nail. About 1/3 an inch LONG. I wish I could throw up. But that was DISGUSTING and not something I would've expected to find in my food. All they did was offer a "credit" to be applied for our next order. But hell no will we be ordering again. CHECK YOUR STAFF. And to add, there is a DISEASE THAT HAS CAUSED A STATEWIDE QUARANTINE. If I get covid19 from a finger nail in some effing soup or whatever else I may have swallowed... read more

Great spot. Great for a Seahawk game. Egg rolls where slammin! Drinks are always double shots..and the service and people there are O so friendly..I would come here again and again. read more

There were 12 ladies that had lunch ar the Emperor's Palace on the Westside today and everyone was extremely happy with the food and the service. very accommodating. Everyone wanted to come back agin. I don't know what people are talking about. the serving sizes were VERY large. Most of us had to bring some home. Joan Steuer read more

I keep hoping this restaurant gets its act together. It's been around for so many years and I don't know how they stay in business. The interior is horrible and so outdated that it looks like something out of an early 80's movie. Don't look up or you'll see the air vents that likely have never been cleaned. The food... let's just say I prayed I wasn't going to get food poisoning. But apparently I didn't pray hard enough. I'm wondering when the health department was last there and if they were paid to look the other way. This place could be epic. But obviously the owners don't want to invest in their business let alone care. I won't be back. read more

I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews. I love this place, and the food is always good for me. I've been eating at EP all my life. Maybe it's because I always get take out? I've actually never eaten inside the restaurant. I always get take out. My favorite food here has got to be the Almond chicken, second favorite is the Lo Mein. The sweet and sour chicken here is excellent too. Again, I've never had a bad experience getting take out from here, they are always nice when I come pick it up. It's worth a shot if you are craving Chinese in West Olympia. read more

Emperor's Palace Westside - Almond Chicken. Really good. Comes with soup and tea. - Chinese Near Me - Olympia, Washington

This has been my favorite restaurant for 15+ years. My kids love it too. They are always super nice and the food is always good. I've brought many friends here who also love the food. The almond chicken is THE BEST! We live in Shelton and there is no almond chicken like it anywhere. Highly recommend. read more

Ok so I see all the terrible review, and scratch my head?! I know having grown in grays harbor county, you would know good Chinese food. I have no complaints whatsoever. If your food is bland, use the condiments people!! We ate there today and I was very empresses with their service, the food portions where very large. Plus it was quite good. We didn't have anything that was bad. I highly recommend this place. Nice and quiet, peaceful. Good tea, good soup, almond chicken is the same it was 20 years ago. Last of all, if this place is SO bad, why have they lasted for well over 20 yrs?! read more

Yuck. Bland food and inattentive wait staff. We dined with another couple and we all ordered the same dinner option with varying degrees of spicy. I ordered a 4. I like spicy food! Unfortunately our waiter heard zero, because the greasy slimy food I received had no flavor and no spiciness. The other meals were spicy, but not mine. I couldn't eat it, and later in the evening I ended up with a very upset stomach from the few bites I managed to swallow. I received an apology and option of sriracha sauce or ask the chef to make me a new dinner. I refused both. Sriracha wouldn't have made it taste better, and its awkward to watch everyone else in your party eat while you wait for your dinner. The other couple paid, but I dont think we were comped for my meal. Definitely NOT going back to this restaurant. read more

I have been coming here for 30 years and it has always been my favorite Chinese restaurant in Olympia. However tonight practically ruined it for me. We were seated fairly quickly. But it was almost 20 minutes before we received water. It was another 20 minutes before our server came to take our order and other tables who were seated after us had already received their food. No big deal, maybe the server was on break... but when we received our order, half of it was wrong and the server didn't even stick around to offer to correct it until we finally flagged him down 14 minutes later and he didn't even the offer to do more than take the price of 1 item by half, which it turns out we were still charged full price. I have always loved this place and do not know what has happened to it. Very disappointed. Our server was Cody if we that means anything. read more

That Cassidy girl is a sweetheart. Lemon Chicken and Fried Rice was pretty good. Decent food, friendly staff, quality beer. read more

I had decent expectations for this place, but only to be let down. Although the pictures looked quite good, the food was by far the worst "chinese" food I've had. I ordered $30+ of takeout (Fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and general tsos). The fried rice was like eating gravel, the S/S chicken was dry and hard and the general tsos was just soggy and unappetizing. The only half decent that was edible was the packaged fortune cookie. My family only took a couple bites and had to throw it out. We've never ordered food that we couldn't get AT LEAST half way through. This "food" was just terrible. read more

Came on my lunch break, we always come here. The table behind us, got here about 10 minutes after us and they were served before us. It took 10 minutes to have the server come over. We ordered soup and our lunch from the lunch menu. It's now 12:12 and I have to be back at work at 12:30, they said that there was 5 dishes before us. And if we were in a hurry we need let them know. We have never had this problem here. We will not be back! read more

I am only giving four stars because I placed my order from California and wont actually be able to eat the food ;) My daughter just gave birth at St Peters and was starving! All she wanted was asain so I did a little research and found this place online. When I originally called to ask if i could even order from CA I spoke to Lacey- we were both a bit confused but she helped me work it out. Then my daughter didnt deliver till after closing! Called back today, got Lacey again and placed my order without a hitch! That she took the time to deal with me calling in a panic from CA, with such good humor and help, speaks volumes of their customer service. Thank you Lacey! You Rock! read more

Service was good, but not impressed with the taste of the meals. No one in my party enjoyed it, and felt grossed with the texture of the chicken in our dishes read more

Lunch today was great. For $11 we got soup, almond fried chicken, pork fried rice, and veggie low mein. I was afraid of the Curry Chicken Broccoli soup - I usually don't like thick soups, and I never eat curry. It was GOOD! The chicken filet was very nice, thickly cut breast, gravy a bit salty. Noodles were thin and stir fried with a nice assortment of veggies. Rice was okay, but since I was getting full and my tummy was like valuable real estate, I dedicated the space to the noodle dish, soup and chicken, and took the rice to go for a late night snack. My only 'eh!' was that we were given a Lunch menu and not the full menu. In hindsight though, it was perfect for a first visit. Next time I'll go at supper and have the crispy beef and walnut prawns. read more

I went here last night after not coming in for a while and was excited because the other times I have gone it was good. We arrived at 6:20 and were patient and new they were busy since it was a Friday night. We got seated and ordered what not. It had taken 15 minutes to get soup, then they finally took our order then at around 7:10 we noticed people who had come in after us getting their food. At 7:20 a waitress came over and said the chef was making our food. Clearly had forgotten to put our order in. We finally got our food at 7:35. Service was terrible- and on top of forgetting to put our order in she was rude. We never made a scene or were rude to have her act such a way. We will never be returning and the Mongolian beef was a whole onion and 4 tiny pieces of meat. read more

I ordered the almond chicken at this location since I was told by friends that it was the best the store had to offer. That being said, I had started to worry mid-meal what would have happened to my body if I had ordered anything else. The meal was comparable to day-old, reheated McDonald's chicken nuggets when the bland "gravy" was not on the chicken. When it was, the taste was pretty much the same, only wetter. The almond pieces accompanying the chicken offered little to no extra flavor. Many pieces of the chicken were tough to bite, and even cut through with the utensils I was given. The pork fried rice that came with the meal was a sad excuse for rice in general. The pork that was supposed to come inside the rice was nearly impossible to find and offered nothing to the food. Additionally, my girlfriend had tried to order some tempura veggies, which are supposed to be fried with a coating, although what she had received appeared to be vegetables with hot oil poured over them briefly. Upon asking the hostess about them, she had apologized to us for the miscommunication which signaled to me that the staff in the back had no clue what tempura was since she had to go let them know. When my girlfriend had finished eating them, she soon had an upset stomach. The ONLY reason this review is getting two stars instead of one is because of the service provided by Anna, the hostess, who had actually taken the time to find out what we wanted and tried her best to get our orders right and understand our issues when we presented them. She was very friendly through the whole ordeal. This restaurant is hardly passable for Asian cuisine aside from the names of their dishes, and is close to the last thing I would recommend to a friend or family member. Very disappointed. read more

To be frankly honest, I was excited to try their food after reading all of the bad reviews. I'm a big fan of bad Chinese. Anyway, the food wasn't horrible. I got the Sesame chicken and the flavor was good. The only thing I wasn't satisfied with was how drenched the chicken was in the sauce. It made my teeth hurt because of all the sugar. The chicken was drowning. The rice was good. Nice and moist with a good flavor. The portion size was HUGE, which is nice considering the price. and the staff was friendly. It was an overall good experience. read more

The worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. We ordered 2 dishes, Walnut Shrimp which is just mayonnaise and salt sauce and Tso Chicken. Absolutely no flavor for the chicken and we paid $50 for 2 dishes and a side of rice. Even Panda Express is better than this. Rice was old and dried out. Don't waste your money. We recently moved to the Westside and we're excited to try a new Chinese restaurant and were so disappointed. read more

Without a doubt the worst chinese food I have ever had. They should be shut down. What a disgrace. They use ground chicken in the soup and chow mein. The sweet and sour pork was so old and hard I could not cut it. The fried rice tasted like it was days old. The fried shrimp was soaked in oil instead of fried. The chow mein was bean sprouts, ground chicken and celery. And all for $40. Never again. read more

I'm sure SOME restaurant in Olympia is worse than Emperor's Palace. Did the Crazy John's Catbox Cuisine over on Harrison go out of business? Oh, right, they never existed. We Hit You Lots With A Rotting Trout definitely used to be worse than Emporor's Palace, but the new owners have really slipped; sometimes they just use a regular old non-rotting trout and sort of bop you lightly with it, so I really can't count them. Bob's House Of Muffler Burns? Stacks O' Oreos On Fire? International House Of Haggis? BBQ Possumburgers? Hm, I'm pretty sure that if BBQ Possumburgers and International House Of Haggis existed, they'd actually be much tastier than Emperor's palace. In brief: lard in everything, without much other flavor, miscooked meat, sad to nonexistant vegetables, everything's weirdly sweet. Anyway, if you like oldschool Americanized Chinese food, like a lot of us East Coast kids grew up on, Tea Leaf II does it well, with plenty of white pepper like God intended, and South Pacific in Lacey and Fortune Cookie in Dupont satisfy without all that inconvenient longing for the sweet, sweet embrace of death. read more

Bland as bland can be. I mean seriously. I am pretty sure this is what hospital food in China tastes like.

This cast iron stomach was taken down. I haven't had food poisoning in years. Seriously. I ordered the "Seafood Chow Mein" and within 24 hours I was vomiting uncontrollably. I will never order here again. Be warned. read more

We've only ever gotten delivery, but both times we ordered online, it was relatively quick, and the food was great. The almond chicken is always my favorite, and they make it just like the place in my hometown did! I've become a big fan of the cashew chicken, too. It's a little pricey, but for one of the few places that deliver on the west side, we'll definitely order again. read more

The first time we ordered delivery from here was about a year ago. It was horrible. Nothing tasted like it was supposed to, "chow mien" was soggy vegetables with side of those crunchy Asian noodles you put on salads. It had been just long enough for us to forget how bad it was, and we were desperate for delivery dinner. Maybe, they had improved? Nope. There's been very few times that I have had to send food back in a restaurant, but I seriously considered calling to have the delivery guy return this horrific food. And for two basic meals our total was something like $30! Reading these other reviews, I just hope we don't get food poisoning. :( Definitely never giving these guys another chance. How does this place stay in business? read more

So it almost goes without saying that this is crappy American Chinese food. The disturbing part is that it's WAY overpriced. Tiny portions of lukewarm Chinese food I would expect from a gas station - but to shell out $40 (not including tax and tip) for dinner for two people? That's enough to make my stomach turn. Someone open a real Chinese restaurant in Olympia and put this place out of business, please! If you must eat here, the chicken lo mein was the most edible dish - the sweet and sour pork, almond chicken, fried prawns and bbq pork not so much - just bland, greasy, and lukewarm. read more

Certainly *not* even remotely authentic Chinese, but to be honest, I love sub gum, and there's is pretty good.

The one time I ate in the actual restaurant I thought, OK, average and relatively safe Americanized Chinese. Fine. Then we started ordering for delivery and each time the food has been sub-par. "With vegetables" seems to mean "with some variety of over-cooked squash and precious little else." We've ordered many different dishes trying to find the ones that don't come with a thick layer of slimey squash on the bottom of the container and had little luck. The orange chicken seems to be mostly safe, and so are the fried wontons. Otherwise stay away; it isn't worth the price. read more

MIL asked us to take her there, I said as long as we dont get the server we got last time. It seemed like they had all new servers. The meal tasted good, we all got different dishes. But we all ended up with food poisoning, the common thing we all had was chicken, which leads me to believe either they didnt keep it at temp like it should be or they had old/mishandled chicken which grosses me out even further. One star for nice service but the food was awful. I've never had Chinese food like this, so bland, no spicyness, no saltiness. Where was the egg, green onions, carrots, bean sprouts in the pork fried rice? Where was the pork? I missed that. The chicken chow mein was tasteless and where was the chicken? The almond chicken was weird. I was expecting a stir fry of veggies with chunks of chicken with roasted almonds on top, instead I got slices of breaded chicken with some sort of gravy on top. It was like country style Chinese food! The atmosphere was like having Chinese food at a Denny's.
