It's been a long time,my friend had a craving for Lebanese food and last time I was here it was called Emma's on Liberty It's become more trendy,if my memory serves me right they had long benches before and more traditional Lebanese food,now the food portions have shrunk to smaller sizes so the name change is appropriate Food wise it's better than your average Lebanese place. What essentially is a chicken kebab (moorish chicken) was really nice,I was impressed. I do not know much about Lebanese foods, but I became a big fan of their food at the first bite of the Baba Ganouge (Eggplant dip)! Then we had the famous Haloumi cheese, Roast eggplant and Moorish Chicken. Among these excellent dishes, my biggest wow was the Moorish Chicken which was recommended by a friendly staff. The cooked chicken was rolled in a thin bread. The juiciness of the chicken and the crispiness of the bread had such a awesome harmony. For a casual dinner in Enmore, I cannot think a better place for now. Such a great discovery! read more

Came here after a comedy show at the Enmore Theatre on Friday and I'm glad we did, cause this place was tasty. We got in around 9pm just before the kitchen closed, so make note of that. This place is put simply, Lebanese tapas. Lots of snacks and small dishes made for sharing. My only gripe is the portions are on the smaller side, but when they're tasty you kind of forget all about it. We ordered the pumpkin hummus with bread, fried cauliflower, lady fingers (awesome,) golden balls (awesome,) and moorish chicken (awesome.) We smashed all of it rather quickly We also tried the Lebanese beer and have to say not my cup of tea...definitely has thyme in it so that's an acquired taste... Run, don't walk to Emma's on Liberty. Just make sure you book first! This amazeballs Lebanese restaurant is always packed to the rafters. It is seriously good food. And BYO to boot ($3.50 corkage per head). Every time I've been (and I'm always dying to go back), it's been with a group of friends and we've gone for the banquet. Itall ends up about about $50 a head, which sounds expensive but you'll seriously be waddling out of there. In fact, wear your stretchy pants. We'll usually opt for a mix of the meat and vegetarian banquet options Meat: selection of hommous, tabouli, falafel, ladies fingers, potato, chicken and lamb skewer - $40 per person Vego: selection of hommous, tabouli, falafel, potato, lentils, oven eggplant and fried cauliflower - $40 per person. But I'm seriously tempted to go back and just order copious amounts of the oven eggplant AND the smokey baba ganouge. I'm aware that's a total eggplant overload - I don't even care. Everything here is so damned good that you'll have trouble leaving room for dessert. Try. And here's a hint: take it easy on the bread with oil and spices that goes on the table to start with. You'll want to save that for the hommous and baba. And don't eat lunch. read more

Seriously the best Lebanese food I've had in Sydney - definitely a step up from your standard Lebanese restaurant. It's crowded, noisy, loads of fun, and I thoroughly recommend ALL their eggplant dishes, plus the lady fingers are amazing, and the chargrilled chicken does all the things it should do, and none of the things it shouldn't. You WILL want to over eat here, it's kind of inevitable. Best of all, it's BYO. (They are also licenced, but BYO is not looked down upon, I think corkage is about 3 pp.) It's kind of in the middle of suburban Enmore / Stanmore... It's about 7 mins walk from Stanmore Station. I don't know why this place is listed as $$$$ on Yelp. We paid about $35 a head, and we totally over ordered. read more

Went here last night with a friend who was writing a review of the restaurant for work. I guess I'm a bit biased in my opinions, coming from a Mediterranean background means that I expect a bit more because I know how good it can be. Unfortunately Emma's didn't deliver on the flavour. It was a bit bland. Apart from the cauliflower dish, the potatoes covered in aoili and the tabouli (which had the perfect amount of tart to it!) There was something missing - a herb? a flavour? I couldn't put my finger on it, but whatever it was made the dishes taste a bit less than what they could be. Dinner plates started at $12 and went up from there. The staff were lovely but unfortunately having lovely staff doesn't make up for the lack in flavour :( read more

Finally, after 4 years of wanting to desperately eat here, I can now officially claim Emma's on Liberty as a wonderful Lebanese restaurant I will surely visit again. Yes, this place is tiny but considering the size, can pack a fair few tables (mainly thanks to the communal table running down the middle of the restaurant). It is loud (expected), it is warm (expected) and it is full of energy (expected). Onto the food, the Moorish Chicken was incredible. The salads equally great (the Tabouli had a generous amount of lemon which I loved!). The only criticism I had on the food was the Labne, I am such a fan of this yoghurt, and unfortunately, I have had better Labne. Overall, a great place to catch up with friends, over shared dishes and laughs. read more

Emma's on Liberty street in Stanmore is a great and popular little Lebanese restaurant. And the combination of being little and popular can make it difficult to grab a table at times so you may have to settle for take away. If you do miss out, wait for your food near the kitchen and enjoy the aroma while you can or else grab a table and start getting stuck in to it. It's your usual fare of Lebanese breads, dips, meats and share plates and mix that with some red wine and it makes for a fun night. It's under a 10 minute walk from Stanmore station and only about 5 minutes from busy Enmore road so it shouldn't be too difficult to get to. Whether you get a table is another story but take the gamble, it'll be worth it. read more

I was really excited to try Emma's snack bar. I drive past it all the time and the vibe from the outside seems so exciting. Upon arrival we were ushered in, squeezing through two huge tables on people, one of the tables brushing my knees and the other my bum. (Not sure how covid safe the tables are?). We are sat at the bar, and the bar staff were not wearing their masks properly (I get it, its hot, but when you're infront of their face it seems a little off). We sat there for 20 minutes without menus, or table water or anything. We found the online order QR code and ordered. When food arrived we were given no cutlery, and had to ask twice to be given it. The food didn't taste of much if I'm honest with you, very disappointing seeing the price of the meals. The bread tasted stale, and was crumbling while we are it. The girls who served us were very kind and apologetic, but it really didn't excuse the food or service we were provided. I understand post- covid it's very busy and hectic, but without kind and attentive staff a restaurant really falls apart. read more

Wonderful Lebanese food in a very relaxed atmosphere. Dishes are around $10-$18, and you get plenty of food for that. The wife and I ordered four dishes, with bread; but we should have got three and left room for dessert. The Lebanese beer 961 is also worth a try. read more

Terrible place surviving on reputation and decor, rather than actual service. Food portions were small, and not that tasty. Staff were inattentive, and were in a hurry to kick you out. So many better options elsewhere read more
