Superb dining experience at The Grand Hotel de Tijuana. Love the colors and the interior lighting. The servers are very kind and informative in explaining all the dishes. Food was mouth watering and by far one of the best restaurants I've enjoyed. My sister and I planned to attend a boxing event in this Hotel and decided to try their restaurant prior to the main event to grab some dinner and just simply had a ball. Fantastic food and service. I highly recommend the 6 course tasting menu (which is really 7 courses with the amuse-bouches) which includes small portions of many of the regular menu items recommended here. So it started out a bit weird. Called to make a reservation for 530. Got there and the couldn't find it. But the guy remembered talking to me on the phone. (It was empty inside). This little gem is inside The Grand Hotel in Tijuana and it's quickly become one of my favorite restaurants! The service is so impeccable it's basically indicative of days gone by because service this good doesn't exist anymore as far as I know. The ambiance of the dining room is classy, clean, comfortable, interesting and elegant. The noise levels are quiet and the temperature and music are perfect. Finally, the food is incredible! The French/Baja fusion can be a bit rich but the flavors are amazing, delicious, creative and always served piping hot or at the temperature it should be. It's obvious they use quality meats and ingredients and have created a simple yet complex and cohesive menu that I would order and try literally anything from. A stay at the Grand Hotel Tijuana. Emma is inside. Night one I had the coulotte and it was the best meal I have had this year. Night two. I really wanted to go back to coulotte, but ventured out to the new York. I know not really venturing, but I am a red and red guy. So, bottom line is the coulotte is better and 30% less. Emma Baja French Restaurant is located deep in the bowels of the Grand Hotel de Tijuana, that monolithic 1970's twin tower building than can be seen from wherever you are in the city. The restaurant opened three weeks ago. One parks in the very dark underground garage, and walks to an elevator to take you one level up to the lobby and the restaurant. Parking is validated, but there is a twenty peso charge regardless. The wine list consists of a series of twelve or so stapled pages, and is extensive. However, they were out of the Chasselas del Mogor Badan I ordered. After some wait, the manager brought over six other whites and lined them up on my table, stating that was all they had [in whites]. I ordered the Monte Xanic Chardonnay. The service by Ulises ["Ulysses" in English], was certainly pleasant, but he needed more training, along with reminders to pour the wine. Alejandro had to come to the rescue to open the bottle. Midway through the meal, Ulises took an unannounced dinner break, so suddenly waiters I had not met were swarming around me. For dinner, I selected the Pescado "Globina", con uvas verdes, limon, almendras and a puree of calabazas. The portion was small, but the dish was generally flavorful. After dinner, as usual, there was the ritual of a Carajillo a la Mesa. The dining room décor is made up of luxurious forest green velvet semi-circular booths and banquettes, so the glamour quotient is high. Nonetheless, Emma Baja French is more of a hotel restaurant, meant to service the needs of hotel residents, and I am not sure I would make any great effort to visit in the future. read more

The music didn't fit the ambiance and was a little loud and too much of a dance beat for the relaxing fine dining atmosphere they are trying to create. Large menu to choose from. We came in very late because every restaurant we chose was "closing ". We were welcomed here and was quite surprised by the quality and flavors of the food. This is a hidden gem and the fact that it was so empty is a shame as the food and service were excellent. The bone marrow starter my wife is a bit of a connoisseur of bone marrow and she said it was the best she had ever had. My French onion soup had a great twist with a cheese pastry crust cover rather than the traditional bread and cheese. Main courses were also excellent - a few bites of the New York strip were a not edible because of sinew but that is a hazard with steak at the best of times. The worst service, by far, that we have found in TJ in the last 10 years. We are a group of 8 couples that celebrate each ones birthday in a different restaurant, always in TJ. We thought that because it was located in a nice area and the pictures on their website looked pretty nice and elegant, it was going to be a good experience. If the restaurant is portraying as a French one, let me tell you, are you serious?... Here we go with our experience.... arrived at 7:00pm, ordered appetizers at around 7:30pm after browsing through the menu. Appetizers starting to show up by 8:00pm, after a round of cold French bread. Ordered main dishes by 8:15pm, most of us ordered the New York steaks with bernaise sauce. It took one hour and 15 mins to get all the steaks!.. and it was just a regular 1/4 steak with a very tasteless sauce on top with 1/2 pound of French fries. Besides not worth it, very expensive and with terrible service. Not recommended. From there we went to get some tacos, which by the way were better tasting than the New York steak, cause we left hungry and angry! read more

Was lucky enough to make my second trip to Emma this time taking friends after a meeting. They were so impressed with the menu...suckling pig, steak tar tar, lamb turiene. Very 1960-70 luxury dining. Estuvimos un grupo de amigos (18 personas) y por curiosidad, tratando de conocer nuevos lugares en la ciudad decidimos acudir a Emmas, restaurante ubicado dentro del las torres de agua caliente. la experiencia comenzo mal, tuvimos problemas con la actitud de 1 de nuestros meseros (señor, delgado, de grandes entradas en la frente, de tez morena, olvide su nombre) que parecia estar enfadado y contestaba de mala manera a las preguntas que le haciamos. Despues se vinieron las entradas, porciones francamente pequeñas de precios no muy modicos, el sabor de la comida y la temperatura de la misma era inconsistente. Procedimos a pedir los platos "fuertes" varias personas pidieron el New York (la carta de platillos es muy limitada) y el corte era demasiado delgado poquito mas de 1 cm y la carne no era nada suave, pienso yo que muy apenas alcanzaria la calidad select, a mi se me ocurrio pedir el lechon el cual llego pobremente servido, creo que no eran ni 200 gramos por $520 pesos y despues de 1 hora. Creo que el lugar esta sobre valuado por algunas personas y solo es moda en la ciudad, solo que las modas pasan muchas veces muy rapido.... read more
