I called again today because I decided I would go ahead and get my windows tinted. I told them I would be there around 11. Got there and my car was started immediately. I was told the options and shown examples on other cars that he completed. I was told a time to return. When I returned... my car was ready. It looked great and came with a lifetime warranty. Emission test fail because of check engine light. Was told the retests were free. After the mechanic fixed the check engine light issue went for a retest and was told it failed again and need to bring it back after a week. This time when I brought it back they wouldn't honor free retest. If I would have known this was the case I would have gone anywhere else for the retest. I'm only a little bit bitter that I've been paying $25 for rude service at the BP station to get my emissions done for the past 10 years. This is the fastest I've ever had my emissions test done. It's not an exaggeration when I say that it literally only took 5 minutes. The man who works there is really nice, there's a nice shed (which sounds sketchy, I know) to wait in with free bottled water, which is especially appreciated in this Atlanta summer. $11.99 is such a good deal and I'm no longer dreading doing this every year. I didn't get my emissions test done here because the guy told me their comps were down, taking them a lot longer to do the test. they have been referring costumers to Scenic Emissions for $10.99...which is really good and quick too. $10 for an emissions test? Unbelievable. Coming from Tennessee I'm used to not having to pay for these test so 10 bucks is as close to free as it is going to get here. Emission Express is located right next to the Phillips 66 gas station. Keep an eye out on this place because it is easy to miss. (I drove by it once before finding it) This place is strictly no frills, all about business. I'm sure the owners are making a killing off this place even at its low price point. All there is to this place a a metal shed and a side out house of a building they call their waiting room which was much appreciated as it sheltered me for the blazing hot sun. The test took about 5 minutes to complete. Super fast compared to the other places I've been to on Buford Highway. Staff was friendly and easy going. Not much you really have to do but drive in, get out of your car, let them do work, receive paper, pay, and go on about your day. I highly recommend this place if you are in the Sandy Springs area. Don't go on a Saturday afternoon. There were so many cars in line that it extended onto the street. If I tried to get in line, I would have been blocking traffic. This place needs some serious organization. If they were able to hand everyone numbers based on when they arrived, I likely would have waited to get my car tested. Unfortunately, since I wasn't willing to block the road, there was no way for me to keep my place in line. If you happen to arrive when the line moves up, great, but it's like finding parking during the holidays. You just have to get lucky. It's definitely not worth saving a couple of dollars. I happened to be on 285 Eastbound and hit up FourSquare for an emissions testing station. This place came up first so I pulled off at Chamblee Tucker, took a right into the first gas station and was pleasantly surprised to see only one person in front of me. After a very short wait the young man running the place waved me in and did the test in under 10 minutes. The young man running the place was courteous, professional and friendly the entire time. We even had some excitement in the form of a Dunwoody police officer hauling away a shoplifter from the convenience store. The next lowest place I could find was half way to Alabama on I-20 and that was $14. This place is cheaper, nicer and more convenient. Note the cost is $20 for cars older than 1996. My car is a 2007 model so I paid my $10 and left with my passed test paperwork. read more

Great little emissions testing place, right off the highway and next to a gas station. It's actually a part of the gas station, so you should pull into that area when looking for it. It was on the way to my house, which made it even more perfect for me to stop by to get my emissions done. When I went, there weren't any cars in line, and they finished the testing in about 5-8 minutes. There was only one person there, but she was polite and friendly enough. There is a small shed off to the side, with a sofa and TV in the corner as well as gratis water while you wait. A small fan circulates air throughout the room, so it is hot, but not unbearably so. Honestly, I've gotten my emissions done for about this price before, and ended up waiting in my car. This place was no better or worse, since it got the job done. It appears the price has gone up since many other people reviewed this place--it is now $12 instead of $10. Still very reasonably priced, I think. read more

These guys are great. Have used them several times. It's the cheapest emission check in the city. Be advised that there usually is a line of people waiting, but the guys are very good about making sure people stay in line and they are efficient in moving you through the process. I probably waiting no more than 10 minutes. My car is electric with small gasoline backup that must be checked. One of the guys noticed this when I was in line and took me around to the back because "special attention" was required. He was friendly and helpful. read more
