The class changed my entire perspective on how I view cooking, and I love it! Ronna took the fear out of cooking for me and removed all the blocks I had from getting myself into the kitchen. She pretty much took the stress out of cooking for me, and not only made me feel like a better mom and wife by taking the guilt out of not having home cooked meals on the table every single day, and teaching me creative ways to get meals on the table quickly, she really helped me discover a new creative side to me that I didn't think I was capable of in the kitchen! I will use the tools I learned at Purple Kale Kitchenworks for the rest of my life and will share them with others I know. She taught me things I didn't even think of doing in my kitchen, even after going to culinary school to learn how to cook! I highly recommend her class!

This most recent time which was last weekend, I rented the kitchen to host a 20 seater chefs table. Both Ronna & her assistant Kim were beyond helpful. They were both available through email & phone anytime myself or my event planner had questions. Ronna was also super flexible with my timing & arranging for rental drop off & pick ups. The place was cleaned when we arrived and Kim was there to make sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. I highly recommend this space and would definitely book again.

Learned a lot, had fun, and enjoyed delicious food!…read more My wife and I attended Thai Food cooking class at HCNY on Jan 25, 2024. The group was small, just 6 people, so we got almost a private class. Entire class was well planned and organized. Each of us got some hands-on stuff to do, we asked questions, took notes, enjoyed our meal, yet we ran exactly on time. John provided a lot of information not just on specific dishes we cooked, but also on Thai cuisine fundamentals, ingredients, and main tastes. He also shared some cool cooking tips we found useful though we are not cooking beginners. We ended up with a plentiful freshly made Thai dinner consisting of Tom Yum soup with Shrimp, Fried Fish in Tamarind sauce, Thai Red Curry Chicken, and sticky rice. All the dishes came out delicious and tasted like in a Thai restaurant! And most important we've successfully reproduced these dishes at home one week later! Thank you John, and The HCNY Crew for the great experience! We highly recommend Home Cooking NY to all who likes and learns to cook!

This bootcamp is a great opportunity to learn foundational baking skills (and bring home some delicious treats). We learned about Cakes, Breads, Chocolate & Pastries, and Tarts & Pies. I'm already looking into what other classes they offer and will be back to learn more.

The 2 hours whizzed by, and Jessie was really friendly and great and giving and showing instructions. She was also very patient with students' questions. The ornaments ended up being so cute from everyone, we were all thoroughly impressed by everyone's work. A lot of us, including me, didn't finish the entire project during class, so we got to take home the supplies we'd need to finish at home. Jessie made sure we had the supplies and knowledge/skills so that we'd succeed at home with finishing up. The studio is nice and cozy, there were about 16 participants of mixed genders and ages. It was really fun, and we can't wait to try more classes!

I recently took a goat milk soap making class here and overall had an enjoyable experience. The…read moreinstructor was very knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely kind, which made the class welcoming and easy to follow. That said, there were a few organizational issues that took away from the experience. The class started late because the instructor chose to wait and see if more people would trickle in, which felt disrespectful to those of us who arrived on time. I also wish there had been clearer communication beforehand about supplies. We weren't told that we could bring our own molds, and the only molds provided were small condiment containers, which resulted in some pretty awkward and unattractive soap shapes. Better molds or advance notice would have made a big difference. It also would have been helpful if instructions or an overview of the process had been emailed ahead of time or posted on the class listing so participants knew what to expect. Additionally, a few of the soap mix-ins were unavailable. This wasn't a major issue, but it did add to the impression that the class was a bit underprepared. Overall, I still enjoyed the class and learned a lot, thanks largely to the instructor's expertise and friendliness. With better preparation and clearer communication for students, this could easily be a great experience rather than just a good one.

We had an incredible experience with Shandra! My mother is vegetarian and most cooking classes don't cater to that. But this class left us full and happy! My mom really connected with her too. This was truly the most unique culinary and cultural experience that I've ever done!…read more I ventured to Borough Park to attend the Uzbek immersion workshop with Damira. She and her husband warmly welcomed us into their home and led us to a beautifully decorated table of what was described as a "welcome snack," but was actually a delicious feast in itself. There was Uzbek dried fruits, nuts, both sweet and savory pastries, and hot green tea. I loved the Uzbek raisins, which are bigger and juicier and just better than any raisins I've ever had! As we ate, Damira shared photos and stories of her family's life in Samarkand, an ancient city in Uzbekistan that lies on the silk road. Once we were all well-acquainted and nourished, we headed to the kitchen to cook the main feast. On the menu were homemade individual breads, spinach stuffed pastries, a spring cabbage salad, a cucumber potato salad, and a lamb stew. Damira was such a great teacher, demonstrating techniques before having us actively participate in the prep, cooking, and serving of each dish. She timed everything perfectly so that we had breaks and ate basically the entire afternoon, while continuing to engage us in stories of her home and culture. When we sat down for the final meal, the delicious food was somehow made even better from the meaningful connection we all shared while cooking it. The four and a half hour class flew by and while I didn't want to leave, I was very happy when we were each sent home with enough leftovers to last another two meals.

Not only did we have 40 people to feed, there were about 15 food allergies for the chef to work around. It was a tall order. But an order fit for Miette!!! We had 3 stations to work/cook in, we shifted every so often while others spoke and enjoyed wine (BYOB). Miette suggested the wine shipped a day earlier so they could chill the whites. (amazing) The food was amazing, and for those who had dietary restrictions, the chef was 5 steps ahead and already prepared and alternative! We had an amazing time, learned a lot, and requested recipes! it was an intimate space for 40, but we were able to cook, lounge, and drink very comfortably. As soon as we walked in, it smelled amazing! The size of the location was perfect because we were always engaged. (with cooking or each other) Sally was my point of contact - she was 100% professional, patient, great communicator, and worked with us and the chef seamlessly. I cannot brag enough on Miette. What also speaks volumes is when I was looking for a cooking class, ANOTHER class suggested that I look into Miette. (their space was not big enough). But I was already communicating with Sally because she is so fast with communication. The other class responded days after my inquiry. Miette was already on my books to work with!

If you would have told me that I would be doing a cooking class this summer on Instagram, I would not have believed you. Now, I would recommend bookmarking the summer series, Baking With Our Buds. If you miss an "episode", you could still follow the recipes that are posted on their Instagram. Crepes have always seemed exacting to me. Danielle and Lily were the perfect team to learn how to cook a family recipe that we all successfully muddled through together. Loved how the chefs on the "call" gave helpful baking tips along the way. Helpful Hints- Whisk the eggs, milk and water, then add the melted butter Whisk the flour, sugar and a pinch of sea salt Slowly add the dry ingredients by 1/3 increments to the wet ingredients and continue to whisk Add the beer, watch it bubble and the wait an hour for the magic to happen The batter will be thin Butter your pan Use a ladle to pour the batter onto a hot skillet Have fun with sweet or savory fillings. We did a combination of both. Mushrooms, broccoli, arugula and havarti or arugula, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and a fried egg were the favorite savory options. Nutella and banana or grilled peaches, blueberries and ricotta with powdered sugar were the dessert top choices in our home kitchen. Would be great with Brie and apples or a smoked salmon combination as well. The combinations are endless. Merci to Danielle and Lily at Michel et Augustin for a delicious, healthy summer meal. Can't wait to bake with you again and good luck with the nationwide launch of your cookies into the Whole Foods Markets. Bon Appetit!
