As always, they were professional, polite, and able to get us on the schedule quickly. (One of the outlets that was not working is the one that provides electricity to our tankless water heater). We are first time homeowners and admittedly unfamiliar with all things electric (hence the call to an electrician when we could not determine why several outlets were not working). We had tried the breakers but did not know/think to look for a tripped GFI switch. In less than 10 minutes, Alcorn head located the trip to GFI and push the button. We were then sent an invoice for $150.00 To say we were shocked was an understatement we absolutely appreciate that time is money and have no problem paying for peoples time and professional services.... but in this instance to maintain $150 callout fee when the work required was simply to locate and reset a GFI switch left a very bad taste in our mouths. Even a reduced fee would have been more decent in our opinion. As I mentioned, this is not in any way a reflection on the quality of work and professionalism that Alcorn provides. They have done substantial jobs for us in the past and we have been nothing but pleased. Unfortunately this last encounter has left us searching for a new electrician for future jobs. Alcorn appears to have many positive reviews- all deserved. I am certain this won't impact their business, nor should it. We were just caught off guard by the charge and after asking others in the community their opinion- all were in agreement so we opted to share our experience.

The technician came out and said the whole system needed to be checked, then claimed that three alarms were required instead of two -- without notifying me, the landlord. Later, the owner called and admitted there was a communication issue. Then he called again, saying that to install two more, I would need to pay another $150 trip charge, plus the cost of the two additional units. This experience showed very poor communication. They even told my tenants that more smoke alarms needed to be replaced, which was not true. When I visited the property myself, I confirmed the home was built in 2017, and most of the smoke alarms are still under the 10-year manufacturer warranty, so they do not need replacement. The story kept changing, and it felt like they were more interested in adding unnecessary charges than standing by their word. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I mentioned I thought 4-5 outlets needed repair, and was quoted $400. When the electrician came, the outlets were functional, my tenant just didn't know they were tied to light switches. He spent 25 minutes on-site and only did light wiring on two outlets, but still charged $350 because "that's what was quoted." No materials used, just labor. He did give a $50 discount, but $350 for 25 minutes is the most I've ever paid for basic electrical work. When I pushed back, he said "Google placement is expensive." If you use this company, insist on a basic service call first. Don't agree to pricing until someone actually sees the problem.
