I was after getting a small project accomplished...a 9 x 11 master closet changed from carpet to wood look tile. My carpet is 18 years old and bunched up. But they apparently don't want my business because they asked me to send pics of what I had in mind because they wouldn't let me look at the selection for very long. They seemed as if they were too busy and put out to help a new customer since they were working on removing and returning the sampled inventory. This was a Monday and she said they'd be out to measure on Tuesday or the latest Wednesday and that was 4 weeks ago. I think it's they just don't want to do small jobs and weren't honest about it. But I always do small jobs to test the waters and evaluate their work first like I did with my granite countertops, before scheduling a much larger job. If they did great, I'd have gotten the rest of the carpet out of here. I cannot attest to their work because they don't want my business. Customer service has really taken a dive since Covid. Shame too, we like to use local small businesses.

First, FCI Plano overhauled our bathroom by retiling the floor, wall and shower. Ryan spent several hours with me on FaceTime selecting samples, developing pricing quotes and finalizing materials and plans at our house. We had several contractors quote us, and while FCI was a middle bid, they won us on their attention to detail and thoroughness. Once we pulled the trigger, all the work was done within a week. We didn't have a single hiccup - no extra costs, no last minute "upgrades" required, nothing. Just a gorgeous shower that all our family ogles over. We immediately trusted Ryan and his crew with our other flooring projects. They replaced the glued down engineered hardwoods with a prefinished, solid white oak that we loved. We also had them replace the carpet throughout the house and, when work commitments kept us from finishing the LVPs upstairs, they polished that off for us too. All done within a few weeks. The pictures speak for the quality - it all looks amazing in person - but the thing that really puts FCI Plano ahead of the rest is their honesty and hard work. Ryan was quick about questions, brought us options when (small) unexpected things arose and always told us the truth. We were able to text or call him anytime. I have really nice 'molding' type baseboard and nothing wrong with it so no reason to pull it out except it would be easier on the installers. They were going to glue down the laminate - NOPE! even I know that you don't glue down laminate, it's a floating floor system. And so I went to Smitty's, who were wonderful! the installers were perfectionists, it looks beautiful, and the job was cheaper than Lowe's wanted. I couldn't be more pleased. Our 83 year old home has original Saltillo Tiles which I don't think have ever been restored since…read morethey were installed. Due to the porosity of clay tile, it can very easily be ruined by the wrong type of cleaning and sealant application. It's a job for professionals. And folks who specialize in this type of tile are hard to find. I found Tyler and his company, Seal Systems through Yelp and called them for an estimate. I was pleased to learn this is ALL they do. They specialize in natural clay tile restoration. Tyler's dad even created a proprietary cleaning solution to address the potential issues of stripping off old sealer. On Day 1, they showed up and stripped the tile on their hands and knees. No machines, just two guys working their a$$es off. On Day 2, the sealant went down, four coats in total (I believe) were spread. (I prefer the high-gloss Saltillo). The tile looks gorgeous. The patina is still there but the whole room has a new life. I love the way it turned out - 100% exceeded my expectations (because old tile restoration can be hit or miss.) If you have clay tile that needs some TLC - hire these guys. They are professional, responsible, dependable, and know what the heck they're doing. Also - family owned business...that's a good thing.
