Under new management, this place has definitely improved. Despite the extra charge if you pay by credit card, we've had good service and treats. Recently, our town's Girl Scouts troop had an ice cream cake decorating class at Dairy Queen where they each had their own 8-inch to decorate and take home. The staff members who helped out did a great job. The room where the class was held was sizable and clean, as well as their bathrooms. Replying to "customer service" -- my feedback onsite was that it was indeed Mother's Day and you were short-staffed even though we all knew the holiday was coming. Some people were waiting an hour. That is why you prepare to not be short-staffed, I explained. Instead of saying "yes, thanks, apologies," I was sarcastically insulted by the manager likely responsible for cutting corners. To be clear, I gave respectful and constructive feedback to someone who seemed above it (but not above taking everyone's money). The insult to injury is your insinuation that I wasn't patient despite my clear explanation of what transpired, and no acknowledgment of your manager's shortfall. Just a backhanded assessment that proves, just like in the store, you're not listening to your customers. People, go elsewhere. Crave Creamery is in New Milford, locally-owned, well run, and just about 7 mins away from this disaster. Coldstone Creamery in Westwood is 5 mins the other direction and tasty, plus knows how to respect their customers time and money. read more

PROS: This place is a family ran Dairy Queen and has been since 1963. They have always been nice to my friends and I when we go. They take your order either inside or out and serve food, while other Dairy Queens don't sell food. Their parking lot is of normal size for an ice cream place as well. CONS: I don't recall them having a bathroom and you aren't able to sit inside because the room isn't big enough to support more than one tiny table. Outside there aren't that many places to sit down at so you either have to be lucky and grab a table or lean against the wall. OVERALL: This is our go-to Dairy Queen and will always be for as long as it lasts. I wouldn't chill there, however, for a quick pick up this place is always good. read more

We ordered an ice cream cake for our Christmas celebration. Unfortunately we were quickly reminded why we don't frequent this Dairy Queen, even though it is the closest to our home. The cake proved to be of poor quality, not nearly the same product that we get at other local Dairy Queens. I guess you learn from your mistakes. It's Dairy Queen...I've been to dozens in different parts of the country and the ice cream is always the same...delicious and refreshing-especially on a hot day. It simply brings back memories. I love Blizzards..maybe it's cheesy to love Dairy Queen Blizzards, but I don't care...they're delicious. My daughter and I stopped here after buying a new softball bat at Closeoutbats in Westwood-she suckered me in...at least I let her THINK she suckered me in. The two young ladies working the counter were very helpful and full of smiles. Something I think is really cool about this location is they have a couple of displays that show Dairy Queen memorabilia through the years. Pretty neat to see some of the old cups and prizes. Anyway, the ice cream (I got a Chocolate X-treme and my daughter got the Oreo Cookie Blizzard) was a nice touch on a nice day with my daughter. I avoid coming here at all costs. Which is sad because growing up, this was the place to come after every game or event. Came recently because we wanted Dairy Queen and didn't want to hike to another location. This location in particular is not like it used to be. Employees never crack a smile, there is a credit card minimum, signs are posted justifying or supporting why they do things. Getting ice cream is more than just eating ice cream. Good DQ. The lines get crazy long, especially when it's a summer night. It's just annoying when you can clearly see that the three people who are working behind the counter are clearly not hustling to get the line out of here. They take there dandy time taking orders, making orders, & ringing people up. I understand that it may not be fun taking ice cream orders to a huge rush at 9pm at night but seriously do you have to move at snail speed? Other then that this DQ is decent...it's local enough that I go to it. I didn't hear good things about the owner but I can't comment on that because I have never met the owner. read more

Once again my husband went to this DQ even though we said we wouldn't. Should have driven by. Then charge a extra 70¢ order fee. He ordered 2 things 1 blizzard and 1 chocolate milkshake. The milkshake was like choc. milk. When my husband told the server he just added ice cream didn't blend it at all. So sad, never again we will go farther to Park Ridge or Northvale, worth the ride. They do not honor Dairy Queen standard on Blizzards, not free if you can't turn it upside down. I have been coming here for years, it's a little farther than the one in New Milford or Rochelme Park for me, but kids always like(d) it. kids are 9 and 7 now, so old enough to start understanding that while we do OK in life, we aren't millionaires, and getting sales at ShopRite, being aware of not wasting $$, is smart, not cheap. we go/went here, once a week as a treat. I bout 3 items today for about $14.50 and was informed if I use my debit card, there would be a 70 or 75 cent charge...... really?! almost a dollar charge, on a purchase over $10? this is a new one, even for me. girl was seeet, (teenager), not her fault.... but I am NOT paying for the owners new cc machine so they can take Apple Pay etc..... don't pass it on to me. at least they told me first, but i hope that 75 cents was worth it, you just lost two future, lifelong customers of age 7 & 9..... bc even they smelled BS. it's more principal than anything.... The only thing consistent over the 8 years I've come here (out of convenience) is the miserable owner. Dq is always fun for the kids to meet, but you know you're going to be disappointed when you go. The kids working there are usually nice and are not the problem. Blizzards are never blended correctly, toppings on the bottom, and pure ice cream on top. They often choose not to carry items like big brownies for the royal treats, and choose to instead cheap out by topping treats with bagged brownie bites. If dq corporate ever inspected with a Secret shopper, this place would be in trouble. I will drive the extra distance to park ridge next time. read more
