I fell at work and dislocated my shoulder. I applied for workers' compensation insurance, but there was no GM there, so I went to see a doctor the next day. I paid $250 in copay without insurance. I went for treatment, but the doctor couldn't put my shoulder back in place, Dr say need surgery. It was late, so I had to go to the next day. I was given various explanations at 8am. I waited in the hospital for a long time. But after 11am, the receptionist told me say $1500 need pay first. My husband was overseas and would be returning in three days, so I was unable to consult with him and couldn't pay the full amount immediately, so we decided to cancel the surgery.
I decided to give up on treatment at this hospital and go to Duke EM next Tuesday for a second opinion. It was two long days and a waste of $250.
There was no quick fix, no solution. read more
