DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago Wood Dale - Elk Grove - Guest room

Lodging [Wood Dale IL]…read more This was our home for 3 nights... slightly away from busy Chicago. We arrived pretty late, it was already past midnight (12:15a) but grateful for the friendly and helpful customer service because we were exhausted from all day travel. We were given complimentary bottled water and their signature freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Check-in was fast with no issues. We had no complaints with our room. Beds were comfy and we woke up with no bed bug bites. Bathroom was a little tight inside but water pressure from the shower was good. No clogged drains. Basic amenities: free WiFi, flatscreen, small fridge (except no microwave). Complimentary self-parking. This is a smoke-free hotel. Breakfast buffet available for $18.95. We tried it one morning. Not worth it... go elsewhere for a better breakfast. Review #3809

The DoubleTree Chicago-Wood Dale-Elk Grove is about a 20-minute drive from O'Hare Airport, making…read moreit a convenient option for layovers or quick stays. It's not connected to the CTA or Metra, so you'll need a car, and the hotel sits in more of an industrial area without restaurants in easy walking distance. Being on the west side of O'Hare, you will hear plane traffic. During the day it's noticeable, but at night it wasn't loud enough to wake me. The hotel itself is older and shows its age with dated hallways, carpets, and elevators, but what it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in value and service. Rates are often much lower than other Hilton options near the airport, and every staff member I interacted with -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the bar staff -- was genuinely friendly. The property features a fitness center and a surprisingly large indoor pool (one of the longest I've seen at a Hilton), though there's no hot tub. The restaurant serves typical pub-style food -- I've tried the burgers, sweet potato fries, and quesadillas, all of which were decent and convenient when you don't feel like driving out. Overall, this was my 3rd or 4th stay here, and while the hotel is definitely dated, it's convenient, affordable, and reliable if you just need a place to stay before or after a flight.

The hotel features a bar and large lobby area for welcoming groups and gathering and there are plenty of convenient restrooms throughout the property. In addition to the 18 hole golf course, there is a glow in the dark putting area, perfect for a fun evening activity. The food was absolutely delicious for every meal during our 5 day stay and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The property is located reasonably close to O'Hare and is easily accessible from the expressway. I would definitely recommend the Eaglewood Resort for large group events.

I flew overnight and they immediately got me a room. The service at the desk was direct but ultimately he was happy to help although he initially seemed icy. The walk to the room in the north tower was a hike!!!! Like give yourself 15-20 minutes to get to the conference center long. Several ramps up on the way to the room and down hill on the way back. The room itself was a good size. They are sorry if weird shaped. Like a trivial pursuit game pie piece. But because of that it was large. My view was of the golf course and it was relaxing and gorgeous. There is a nice balcony deck and it was a great size! The carpet was literally worn in areas and the wall paper was peeling in areas. But the bed was comfortable. The desk was older but LARGE which i loved. There is an arm chair with a chaise foot stool. Truly the room is great sized. Just older in decor and wear and tear. There was no service no matter how many days you're there unless you ask for it. I didn't need it. There were two bottles of water and a coffee maker but no cream. There is a mini fridge in the nightstand. All lotion and soaps (including shampoo and conditioner) are mounted on the wall in the shower. The shower is old and dripped all night but works great. The toilet is very low to the ground which was hard for me being as tall as I am. Overall with some updating i would love this place. The conference center was nice and the food was good. The conference center bathrooms were huge. Again with some updating I would stay here again.... or for a conference.

During the weekend that I stayed, they had a dance competition, thus is was noisy. Additionally, looks like the rooms are going through some renovations, thus you can hear some construction noises, be mindful of that. Hotel is 4 out of 5 stars. 400 Park Bistro - had an opportunity to try their breakfast buffet. The offering was decent, eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, along with toast area, fruits, cereals, drinks etc. They replaced the biscuits with pancakes on the second day. Unfortunately, the pancake, biscuits and waffles were cold. Not sure if they turned on the heater or not, but they shouldn't have served those. I would give 1.5 out of 5 stars for the food from the buffet and I hope it was just one off on those two days that I had it.

I requested 3 times and we never got them. 2 of the 4 elevators were down the entire weekend! When you are here for a dance event and everyone gets out at the same time, it's a real problem. Got my exercise from the stairs. We had a late check out but our room key didn't work and with the elevators down that was an issue too. The food and service in the restaurant was awesome though!
