It's run by College of DuPage students (as far as I can tell), and they were so cheerful and good-natured!

I recently spent a week at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downers Grove Chicago, from Sunday through…read moreFriday, to attend a workshop in the Chicago area. Unfortunately, my arrival at the hotel was a bit rocky due to a delay of more than four hours in my flight, and I did not arrive at the hotel until approximately 1:30 am. Fortunately, I was able to quickly complete the checkin process, and my room was available upon arrival, which was a huge win after what had been a very long travel day! The remainder of my stay was fantastic. The hotel was extremely quiet during the entire week of my stay, and that helped get a lot of rest after the long days I experienced at the workshop. My room had a fantastic layout, with a separate sitting area that contained furniture, a small refrigerator, and an office desk, perfect for doing some work in the evenings and early mornings! The bedroom had window door style that allowed you to have your own private space, and there was also direct access to the bathroom from the bedroom. Complimentary breakfasts were served at the hotel each morning, which was a big plus for me during a very busy week! There were many different items to choose from, including scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, bread which you could toast, bagels, and a waffle machine. I enjoyed having many choices, and it was nice to be able to quickly pick something to take with me as I headed out for the day. The breakfast area was large, and there was always plenty of space to sit and eat. One of the most enjoyable things about the week was on Wednesday when the hotel held a complimentary happy hour for its guests. They provided a wide range of foods to enjoy, including salads, soups, and desserts such as brownies! This was wonderful for the hotel to host and it gave me a wonderful opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat for dinner on Wednesday! One of the other highlights of the stay that I thought was particularly beneficial was the shuttle service. The hotel offered transportation to and from the workshop location each day, which made getting around very easy and worry free! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downers Grove Chicago. The quiet rooms, the comfortable design of the room, the excellent quality of the breakfast, and all of the thoughtful extras, such as the happy hour and the shuttle service, made the entire experience truly amazing! I will be returning to the same hotel anytime I have business in the Chicago or Lombard areas again!

As many people know, I rarely drop a one star review. But there were so many things regarding the…read morecleanliness of this establishment, I couldn't ignore it. First of all, there was hair in the bathroom. On the shower ceiling, on the backsplash in the sink area, & even grosser was the pubic hair at the rim of tub! The baseboards were dusty and the sides of shelving underneath the tub had dust as well. The tub itself had peeling paint and spots of mold on the shower walls. A ceiling tile looked like there was some water damage on it and it wasn't replaced. The bathroom sink was slow to drain. In the living room, there was a red stain on the carpet in front of the sofa. The lamp shade had some sort of water damage on it (not sure how that happened). WiFi is slow and the remote control works best if you're right in front of the TV. Per the sign in the room, housekeeping comes every other day. We checked in on a Thursday and they didn't come until Saturday I used the gym several times and one of the ellipticals wasn't working (no sign). The weight chairs had cracks in the leather. One of the weight pins was missing, so a large screw was in its place. There's no place to hang the one mat that you can use for stretching, so it's just tossed somewhere on the floor. The machines are dusty and the disinfectant wipes in the weight machine area was dry so I had to go to the cardio room to get some wipes. The only highlight is that the lobby smelled nice and there was spa water, coffee and tea near the receptionist desk. Breakfast was the typical type of breakfast you would see, nothing to talk about. I wouldn't stay here again. Lots of police activity at this hotel as well, they visited twice during my three night trip!

The front desk staff were consistently friendly and helpful, even with at least three weddings taking place that weekend. Despite how busy the hotel was, staff had no trouble directing us where we needed to go. Parking was easy and straightforward. My only challenge was related to allergies. I'm allergic to down, and this property uses down bedding throughout. Even when I requested polyfill pillows, it didn't fully solve the problem since the down remains in the room. If the hotel offered a fully down-free room option, it would make a big difference for guests with similar sensitivities. Aside from that, it was a comfortable and pleasant stay, earning a solid four stars.

This hotel has been the "centerpiece" of Naperville for a long time on Diehl Road near the highway…read more Before becoming the Marriott, the hotel was a holiday Inn Select. Marriott purchased the building in December 2010 and renovated it when purchased. Being a former resident of Naperville, I frequent this hotel for various events-- weddings, birthday parts, religious events, etc. With that said, this is the first time I have stayed at this hotel. The lobby looks the same as I recall. There are some slight modifications: the addition of a Starbucks, the check in counter moved, and some decor differences. The lobby is not really inviting: it's a mass open space that is dark and littered with a lot of furniture. The lobby could use some updating again to make it a cozy sleeky environment that you want to grab a drink in. So how are the rooms? Being an ambassador with Marriott we were treated to an upgrade. The room was very big with a seating areas as you walked in. Plus we were provided a welcome gift that consist of a small bottle of alcohol, chocolate pretzels and a note. It was a nice welcome gift. The bed was super comfy with the blankets-- part of the marriott collection. The room had everything one could need for business purpose-- good side desk, ample seating and storage areas. The bathroom was a good size as well- the shower had good water pressure and was hot. The room good use a good update to make it a bit more modern. The room seemed outdated but was clean. We were offered free breakfast-- first of all the breakfast areas needs some updating. Like the lobby and bedroom, no work has been done on this hotel since the initial renovation from Marriott. So again, the space was dark, the chairs were damage and just not an inviting seating. The food was ok, nothing was beyond average. Our table setting had two dirty items- my juice glass had lipstick and the creamer had something floating in it-- yuck. The server addressed it right away. The staff was very attentive in the restaurant-- thank you for your service. I would not pay to eat here, but given the meal was free-- it was good enough. As for parking-- the hotel has a very large convenient parking lot. The hotel is a good location to access the highway or to get to downtown Naperville.

The overnight rooms are spacious and I loved being on the top floor with a view. Be aware, there is a daily parking charge which was surprising since there was not a parking garage. Both the breakfast and evening reception were good. The line at the omelette station could have used a second cook to shorten the wait time. However, my omelette was good. This location will definitely put on my return list

Walk more inside and the breakfast area and pool are there (had no time to check out the pool though). Some steps but has a ramp for accessibility. Can see the atrium from walkways outside of rooms. Room has old furnishings, dark wood. Hotel itself mostly looks old. Bathroom had dirty caulking and cracks. Slow drain. 3 sinks total in the room, which was helpful. Quick response to requests from housekeeping. Evening welcome event included- nightly I believe but didn't get to attend. Hot breakfast too. A wristband (for each person) and a dining card have to be presented (these were given to us during check-in). Smooth on our first morning; questioned more about the card and bands our 2nd morning. Omelettes were made-to-order and cooked just right. Best part of breakfast for me. In another area, employees man the hot food. Other sections were self-serve.

As I was laying in bed I noticed something from my peripheral crawling in my pillow and saw the bed bug!!!!!!!!!!! I jumped out of the bed and my fiancé killed it. After we killed the evidence we inspected the pillow cases and noticed dried up blood. We went downstairs and showed the front desk and asked for a room switch. I think this hotel is filthy to have a large amount of complaints when it comes to bed bugs! I wanted to type up an honest review and I discovered pictures from other people who fell victim to their bed bug infestation. I don't think this hotel should be bookable for anyone until they get a proper extermination of the entire property and a better cleaning crew! Everyone that pays to stay here should have been reimbursed and the hotel should be honest because we can carry these bed bugs into our homes and start an infestation there because of this hotel. Unacceptable, lying to customers knowing there was an outbreak of bedbugs! The last review with pictures was from 3 years ago and it's still a problem they are covering up.
