We did the date night trapeze class and definitely had a blast. Our instructors for both the balancing and trapeze segments were fun and helpful. It's such a welcoming environment and I'm glad we decided to check it out. My only complaint was that for the date night package I wish we had more time on the trapeze as each of us only got 3 times on there and the rest of the program was dominated by acroyoga-esque couples balancing positions.

I took the Beginner Aerial Hoop class with 2 friends to celebrate my birthday. This was out of our comfort zone but the instructor, Julie?Julia?, did a great job teaching us one move at a time. We all surprised ourselves with the moves we learned and no one fell off! I highly recommend this if you want to celebrate a special occasion different than the usual dinner & drinks. Really unique and memorable experience! Ps. Check with the front desk for a bday promo if you are taking a class ON your exact birthday! Be sure to wear long yoga pants for hoop class... the skin on your legs will thank you

Location is great, instructors are great, front desk staff are nice and helpful. I've never been to any of the shows but I've heard they are cool also. Space is clean and cool looking. Safety is emphasized. Only negative is the 48 hour cancelation policy. What if something happens within 24 hours before the class? You can't get your credit back within that period. It used to be 24 hours but they changed it.

We went to the student show which was a lot of fun for a first look into aerial arts. The place was packed and energy was great. I would love to try some of their classes!

Incredibly supportive staff, friendly environment, super safe set up - exactly what you need when you're doing something scary like this. They all made it a breeze! Such a fun class, will definitely be back if I'm in Seattle again!

197 reviews and 5 stars??? DARN RIGHT! I got to experience this place during a company Christmas party and it was so ORIGINAL and definitely entertaining. When you walk in there are racks to hang your coats (no coat check so remember which coat is yours), and then a wide open space that leads up to a stage in the back of the room. The trapeze net is overhead and seating can be arranged around the perimeter of the net under the 2nd story walkway which is also a great place to observe the show. There is also a modest sized bar area with ample space for lines to form and high top table confirmations (set up varies by event). The event started with a show on the main stage with a few women doing Ribbon Trapeze to music. This is a great time to walk around and socialize. Then the main event starts-prepare to be impressed! The performers are from all over the world and are truly talented. I would recommend this place for a wedding, office party or even team building! (Think lessons). One note though, parking is difficult so either commute in on public transportation or plan on walking. Great addition to Seattle.

WOW. What an experience at Emerald City Trapeze!! This was quite possibly the most thrilling and satisfying thing I've ever done. The instructional team contributes to this almost entirely - they made me feel so comfortable here despite all my nerves, and really helped me build my confidence in addition to these new skills. They're welcoming, they're friendly - and they really know what they're doing. This is what really made this studio and experience truly unforgettable. For the majority of my life, I've had a fear of heights and open spaces, and sometimes get vertigo in certain non-enclosed spaces. Just the thought of free-falling shakes me to my core. I've always wanted to do something to over come it, but I never did - and so I booked this class, to give me a push in the right direction. Our main instructor talked us through the first 20 minutes or so of class. He had us step up to a hanging bar that was near the ground, and had us hang by our knees to get a feel for what it would be like to hang up there. He talked to us about, safety, and then talked us through what you would be doing once you got up there. Then suddenly, as he's telling me about how to make sure I was secure on the ladder harness, he suddenly says to me: "And, go ahead and head up!" Me immediately: "WHAT?! ALREADY??" I thought for sure I'd spend a little bit more time on the ground. I mean, the session was for TWO HOURS. How could I possibly spend only 20 minutes on the ground?? Somehow, between the three instructors out, they had managed to convince me that I could do it. At the top, I almost backed out of it, but in the end, I jumped - but mostly because I didn't really have any other choice. The first swing, they say, is for fear - after that, you know what to expect and your nerves are gone. I don't think my nerves ever truly went away. I climbed that ladder over, and over, and over again despite this though, and... true to their word, each swing started to feel a little easier. The fear and nerves are still there - but they've been reduced significantly, all because of the amazing instructional team here. They remind you throughout the class that they have full control of everything - you're never actually free falling (well, until you're ready to be - but those are quite advanced students), and there are safeties built on top of the safeties, redundancies almost, they say, to make sure that you're never in danger. Each fall looked terrifying as I watched my friend, but by the time I was up there, I really did feel safe. I trust them entirely at this point - not so much my own body's reaction to the potential 'danger', but them, in full. While I didn't successfully complete a catch like several of the other reviewers did, I have a video of me getting pretty close, and that is good enough for me. I ended up buying their "catch and return" deal upon leaving, determined to go back and successfully complete that catch.

I am NOT athletic by any means. Nor do I work out. BUT - I'm friggin GREAT at the trapeze. Who knew?! Well... maybe not great. But I sure felt cool! I've driven past this spot numerous times since it opened in SODO last fall. Feeling intimidated by the building's massive space, I decided to wait until now to finally take a class. The people who work here are well trained, polite, and professional. At no point did I feel out of shape, insecure, or silly about being so-the-opposite of all of them. In fact, you're supposed to show up in spandex or form fitting clothes. WHOOPS! I didn't have any tights on so I was loaned a pair of pants for my lesson. Thanks! The lesson kicked the crap outta me. My hands were getting sore, my abs, my legs, and it was amazing. Never have I loved getting bruises so much in my life. Flying on a trapeze is perhaps the most exhilarating thing I've ever done. In fact, one of the instructors looked me square in the eye before my first turn and said, "you're gonna get hooked." I sure did!

I have no athletic ability whatsoever and I still felt awesome in the Aerial silks class.

What an AMAZING time!!!…read more First of all, I cannot believe there is (1) Review for this place. This is a MUST DO for anyone that loves the arts. This is like Cirque du Soleil but way better, because the actors/actresses interact with you. If you sit in the front row or close to the stage, like we were, you will definitely be chatting with them throughout the show. Also this is a top notch production, check-in was easy, coat check too and shortly after arriving we were shown our table. Service is what you would expect from a five star restaurant, their timing was on point. They even walk around hunched over during the show not to interrupt your viewing of the show. (Not a job for us old people). We arrived one hour early, got a seat and a few drinks and then the show started and last a fast 2.5 hours. We arrived at our tables to find a small snack, then the show, and then three breaks for soup, main entree and then dessert. The performance stops when you are eating, but the actors/actresses still roam around the dining hall. Food was really good, but overall had mixed results from our table of eight. A friend said "you don't come here for the food", but I disagree I thought everything was tasty, especially the salmon. Oh yeah, then they have a really good band, which was always changing up the tunes based on the skit! I have been here before, but its been a few years. Also, its not cheap but for the amount of money it is completely worth it. I am going to make this at least a twice a year thing from now on and a must when I have guests arriving from out of town. AWESOME JOB GUYS!!!

Seating is comfortable for a long show, with good sightlines from where I sat. I also enjoyed the outdoor areas -- nice spots to hang out before the performance and a pleasant pre-show atmosphere. The touring production of The Phantom of the Opera at Paramount Theatre was absolutely fantastic…read more The cast was incredible, and the production itself deserved a much better audience environment than what the theater allowed. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst theater etiquette experiences I've ever had. During the first act, a man seated behind us repeatedly sang along during the performance. When I politely asked him to stop, the person next to him sarcastically pointed at the stage and said, "The show is over there," while the behavior continued. Around us, multiple people talked throughout songs and scenes, and later in the evening I even saw someone openly filming the show on an iPhone. I eventually had to leave my seats (Main Floor 2, Row G) and speak to management because the disruptions were so bad I couldn't focus on the performance. The only solution offered was seats in the very back of the orchestra. By that point, the experience was already frustrating enough that it took a while to calm down and enjoy the show again. What's most disappointing is that this is the SECOND time I've experienced terrible audience behavior at this theater. I previously saw Back to the Future here and dealt with nonstop talking during that performance too. I attend theater regularly in Southern California at Segerstrom Center for the Arts and also frequently see shows in New York City. Ushers there actively monitor audience behavior and quickly shut down disruptions. At the Paramount, it felt completely unmanaged. For the prices being charged -- around $350 for my tickets through Ticketmaster -- audience members should not have to deal with talking, singing, and filming throughout a Broadway performance. Amazing production. Extremely disappointing theater management and audience control.

Ok this place is super cool. It feels very covert, like you need to know a guy who knows a guy with a password to get in. You can also enter through the bar (I think). We initially went through the side door to get our tickets scanned in and then went in and out of the bar between acts to grab a drink. We weren't able to bring drinks into the actual theater, but not a huge deal. If anything, keeps the venue cleaner. There aren't any seats, just tiered standing platforms. Honestly, even with it being packed, I felt like we had a pretty good view of ~80% of the stage. The one thing I will say is that with everyone standing, you would think there'd be more movement/dancing. But alas, this is still Seattle and most people were bopping their heads to the music while I just wanted to swing around and feel it in my soul.

There is available street parking however it can be tricky and limited due to the narrow streets. The theater shares an entrance with a jazz bar which provides a comfortable seating area to enjoy a drink while waiting for a show. We came to see the Rocky Horror Burlesque Pastie Show and was impressed at the capacity of this small theater. Beyond the hallway, patrons are immediately welcomed to second bar and a sea of padded chairs. The theater was packed with Rocky Horror Picture fans with some proudly wearing costumes of their favorite characters. The show started a little later than advertised however we were kept entertained during the slight delay. The seats were comfortable and we had an unobstructed view of the stage. This was our first time seeing a Rocky Horror Show in burlesque and we didn't know what to expect. Audience participation was encouraged and specific names (which I will not repeat) were yelled out when either Brad or Janet took the stage. Overall, a wonderful group adventure night full of sing-a-longs, heckling, and cocktails. Drink prices and show tickets were cheap compared to other venues.

It may be easier to get in if you are one of the brave souls who is willing to share their most vulnerable selves, but I am much more willing to pay the 15$ to watch others suffer, although I did debate volunteering to do chairs for free admission. Many months later I finally found a day I could go and convinced a friend to join me. We ended up arriving late and while we were super close had some items blocking our view of the stage. The pictures that go along with the readings are amazing, as is the sign language interpretation. It seemed like many readers may be frequents, but there were some newbies as well. I really enjoyed the commentary that accompanied the evening. Its also reassuring to know that their is a time limit in case its not a reader whose story enthralls you.
