Michael is as good as it gets. I had severe damage to my laptop hard drive and after the first place I took it to was unable to any of my data off of it a friend told me Michael at Emerald City Computer Works could get it. I didn't have high hopes because it was in such bad shape but gave it a shot and sure enough in one day Michael called and told me got all 260 GB of data off my nearly destroyed hard drive. This is a great business. You know that feeling of the floor falling out from under you when your hard drive crashes and you get the dreaded Blue Screen of Oblivion. Michael had my MacBook up and running in a very short time, calmed me down, explained how to take better care of my Mac (never, *ever* leave your laptop on hibernate or sleep, it wears down the disk), and brought it back to life for a very reasonable price. Take your computer here, and you'll be treated with great courtesy; they'll listen to your questions, explain every step of the repair process, and work very, very hard to restore your computer to its original state. I see from their website that they also do computer builds, networking and graphic design -- I am sure that they do the same fine job, with the same attention to customer service and detail, that they did with my Mac. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Worth a trip to Coronado (they're in the California plaza building, at the corner of 10th and B). I would definitely take a computer here for any sort of refurbishment, or if I wanted a custom build. read more

It's probably rare to give an excellent review when the repair you sought was not accomplished. When my MacBook Pro had a rolling display that I attributed to a poor connection or faulty cable, Michael assessed it and informed me that it was much more serious and would require major surgery. FINALLY !!!! An honest and straight forward place to get my computer fixed and data recovered. Apple said nothing could be done fix my laptop and I had to buy a new one.
