Hired Emanuel to replace my floors and sub- flooring so that the whole house didn't seem to shake when anyone walked through. The result was perfect! His guys had to remove, save and put back the quarter round for the cabinets and they had to cut around existing cabinetry, which was the part that concerned me most. We needed to have our floors replaced on our 2nd floor due to major squeaking before our new baby was born. EMC gave prompt quotes, were very friendly and professional, and even found a less-expensive way to lay the flooring to make sure it was squeak-free but more affordable. Buyer Beware... Quoted price estimate before coming to look at work. During visit to inspect work, Emanuel shares a very practiced "this is prefinished flooring, so your price to refinish is going way up" speech. Price increases 30%ish. I contact another contractor who ends up lower than the original quote Emanuel provided and he casually mentioned that my flooring was prefinished during visit. The work is now complete, for less than Emc Floors original quote. If they try to bump you like they did me, I recommend speaking with some other contractors. They weaved into our existing Hardword floor and matched the stain of the existing floor and refinished the existing hardwood. When Emmanuel came to take a look at the stairs and give us a quote, he was on time and helped us by giving his professional opinion about what options we had and also how those options fit in with the style of our home. We recently moved to St. Charles and wanted to update the floors of our new place. We found EMC floors on Yelp and Emanuel had some good review. After contacting the company, Emanuel responded very quickly with a date for a home visit to see the current floor and take measurements. He provided a fair price for the work, and we set a date for the job to start. Based on the type of floor we wanted he suggested we purchase the wood ourselves. After finding the large amount of flooring inventory in stock at a local store we purchased the materials. Emanual provided details on how to store the flooring prior to the job so that the wood was acclimated to the home and was prepared for install, something I didn't even know was necessary. Everything went very smoothly. His crew was very professional, helped us move some larger furniture around the house to make space for the demo and installation, and always cleaned up after the day was done. I had Emanuel sand and refinish my floors in nice dark color throughout my whole 1st floor of a ~100 yr old condo unit in the city. He was also able to restore the old maple floors underneath the kitchen tile that had been covered up for decades probably. He did a very good job and he really takes care to do things right. He moved all of the furniture around, made sure everything was cleaned up each day and took care of the details. We just got our floors done by EMC floors and could not be happier with the result and the entire process. Detail-oriented and great customer service. We had them refinish existing hardwood floors and replace ceramic tile in the kitchen with new hardwood. Another contractor came out and told us it wasn't possible to redo the kitchen floors because the ceramic tile went under the cabinets and he would have to remove the cabinets and countertops (which would likely damage them so we might as well get a whole new kitchen). EMC did the job without removing the cabinets and it looks the the wood floor goes under the cabinets!! They did the job while were out of town. Moved all our furniture upstairs and then back in its place after the job was done. I wish all contractors were this good! read more

When I hired Emanuel to refinish my floors he said that offered a 5yr warranty on his workmanship. He said the warranty included imperfections he made and complete buffing should any small scratches occur to get my business. Now, he refuses to honor this warranty. I would not recommend anyone hire him and to me this business practice is unacceptable. Work ethic becomes an issue when hiring a flooring guy. Buyer beware. read more
