We hired IDC from the fabulous reviews from other customers. They exceeded all of our expectations. We redid a few rooms of flooring (including one bathroom), changed out a lot of the trim, and upgraded the stairs from carpet to hardwood. Peter is probably one of the most professional contractors I've ever hired. He confirmed the start of the project the day before, showed up on time every day of our 3-4 day project, finished at a decent hour (so we could have our evenings to ourselves), and kept me informed about the progress of the project every step of the way. Everything was contracted and professionally handled in terms of invoicing. He made suggestions for how to improve the appearance of our home in certain places and gave us up-front pricing about every additional change we could add on if we wanted (we took all of his suggestions and so glad we did!). He paid such great attention to detail, fixing so many errors throughout the house that previously were there...things I didn't even know needed fixing! So many of our doors were not sealed correctly and the flooring was all a mess, they fixed it all for us. This was a big project for us - we saved for a whole year for this project - I am so happy we chose to work with IDC. This project was a great example where we needed someone who was reliable and took great care in their work. Peter and his team did just that. We had a tight deadline to complete the work before we moved into our new home and he delivered in speed and quality! We had him complete a sanding and refinishing of our home and install new oak hardwood flooring in the upstairs hallway. IDC also replaced our stair treads to match the whole stairway to be the same wood species. And he helped us exchange the stair balusters from wood to iron. His attention to detail did not go unnoticed. For example he leveled flooring and patched areas that needed it. We went with Dark Walnut stain for the floors water-based with 3 coats. 2020 review: We used IDC Flooring 2 years ago when we wanted the hardwood floors in our house refinished (see 2018 review below). They were fabulous to work with! We just remodeled our kitchen and needed some new hardwood floors put in where the wall was taken out. Peter came to install the new boards, stain them, and buffed the entire first floor. I contacted Peter/IDC flooring to finish installing LVP in my home. I was on time crunch to be done in 10 days or less. He came for an estimate the next day after contacting him. His estimate was fairly priced not too high, not too low. He always arrived at the house on time and worked very quickly hardly taking any break. He was very friendly and polite and his work is top notch. I've been burned in the past with other contractors but even one small aesthetic thing I wanted to change after the job was done and Peter was happy to come and change it for me. That means a lot to me because I know it's difficult to come back to a job a few days after completion to make a small change but he was very friendly about it and happy to help. Peter did a great job on our floor in Wicker Park. We were on a tight timeline as we wanted to get the floors done on our new home before moving in and we only had a week and a half to do it. IDC Flooring did a superb job in our condo remodel. It was a big job -- the whole apartment including living room, kitchen, bedrooms and a laundry room. There were complications along the way including a very large and heavy bookcase. This was a major thing, and Peter solved all issues in an ingenious and craftsmanlike manner. I receive a quote, set the time, and wow they worked fast and did a great job! I had water mitigation done by JC Restoration (not good overpriced and rude) which left the bottom of my cabinets ruined bc they just tore them apart. Peter did an excellent job with our floors. They tied in new oak flooring in a bedroom with the existing oak flooring in the rest of the house. Then they sanded it all down and finished everything. I couldn't believe how nice the floors turned out! Peter was on time or a few minutes early each day and always kept me updated via text messages. It was really easy to work with him. They finished our floors in record time which was greatly appreciated because we only had a short period of time before movers were bringing all of our stuff. Peter and his partner really paid attention to the details. They refinished a piece of trim to match the floors which was unexpected and appreciated. They did a great job cutting in the flush mount floor vents. They cleaned everything up very well when they were done. My painters and movers added a few scuff marks and scratches shortly after the floors were finished. I was able to schedule Peter again and they buffed/finished the floors one more time to make the floors perfect again. I love the floors and really enjoyed working with Peter.
