Excellent service and the food was amazing! Their hamburgers are delicious! The open salad bar is a good touch.

Handshake Speakeasy is worth the hype! I managed to snag a Friday night reservation in the basement…read moreroom. The interior was dimly lit and moody, and the staff would yell a welcome every time patrons entered the space. They also did the same once people started leaving. For my first drink, I chose the Mexi-Thai. Handshake is known for their clarified cocktails and I was shocked by how complex the flavors were in this clear beverage. It was almost savory with makrut lime coconut, tomato, and basil oil. For my second drink, I chose the Banana Split. This one was much sweeter with rum, banana, and a blend of sherries. It came topped with a chocolate lego filled with banana ganache, which was insanely decadent and tasty. Our reservation was limited to 90 minutes, which was enough time for me. Overall, loved this spot!

Hard to see why this has been getting top speakeasy when I feel I've been to better... Pretty easy…read moreto find - it's in a hotel and there is sure to be a super long line waiting, so make sure you check in with one of the waitstaff especially if you haven't booked a reservation. Although our group did not book ahead, we got there right as they opened and only had to wait about 30 min to get seated - but it was also a Monday so maybe that had something to do with it... Aside from the entrance being anticlimactic compared to the bars I have been to, I think the drinks were quite delicious. I got the Earl Grey and the Once Upon in Oaxaca. The first one was honestly my favorite. It was such a refreshing drink that was a really fun take on Earl Grey tea. I really liked the lemongrass straw as well. Drinking out of the straw vs drinking the drink directly made a huge difference in flavor, which I thought was particularly unique. The Once Upon in Oaxaca was slightly smoky and definitely a more liquor forward drink. Perfect for a second cocktail. I would have liked it to be just a tad more smoky with a thicker mouthfeel. Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience, but there are definitely some other bars I'd recommend over this one...

Maybe Lardo is better for breakfast, but we didn't feel it was fully worth the hype for lunch. We'd…read moremade a reservation in advance for Saturday at 2PM. The interior was brightly lit with a large beautiful bar, and had the vibe of a French cafe. We were brought out some complimentary (pita-like) bread, which was nice, but would have been better with something like olive oil to dip it in. My friend and I ordered 3 items to share - the Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms, Eggplant Parmesan, and Barbacoa. Portions were on the smaller side, but this was the perfect food quantity for us. The Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms were fine but a little bland. I liked the Eggplant Parmesan and Barbacoa, but neither really blew my mind. For everything I'd heard about Lardo, I felt like our experience was good but not amazing. Would check it out for breakfast to compare!

We arrived a little early for our Monday night reservation and had to wait outside since they were busy. The ambiance inside is intimate- definitely a date-night vibe with tables very close together. We ordered the pizza, stuffed squash blossoms, kebab taco, and truffle gnocchi. The stuffed squash blossoms ended up being the most flavorful dish of the night- and that's not saying much, because most of the flavor came from the tomato sauce. The pizza was good, but nothing special. It was satisfying in a "carbs will save me" kind of way. We ordered the kebab taco cooked medium, but mine came out medium rare. If this were a steak, I wouldn't have minded, but ground beef at that temperature carries a food safety risk. After reading multiple reviews about people getting sick here, I wasn't comfortable taking that chance. I asked for it to be recooked, and the waitress was kind and brought out a fresh plate. It was decent, but again, nothing special. The truffle gnocchi was where things really went downhill. When it hit the table, it smelled like mildew. I know truffle can be strong and earthy, but this didn't seem right. I forced myself to take one bite so I wasn't judging off smell alone, but it tasted exactly how it smelled. My friend and I didn't even eat 1/8 of the dish, and it was the most expensive item we ordered. Low key felt like our waitress should've asked why we didn't eat the dish nor ask for it to be boxed but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The dessert, however, was the best thing I had all night. Truly divine. Now I can't tell if it was actually top-tier or if I was just so hungry and desperate for something good that it felt that way in the moment- but either way, it was the one bright spot. Overall, it just didn't live up to the hype which made it sting even more.
