Solid restaurant in the Polanco neighborhood. Their outdoor seating was comfortable and pleasant. Friendly service and lots of good offerings on the menu. Something notable was the ketchups offered with the meals. There were a trio available and one was a curry ketchup which I've never seen before. Delicious burger joint in a trendy area with plenty of other eating options nearby. It's small but complete on the inside. If you a gin fan, this is your new place. I ate at the bar on a Monday night. Not too crowded. Very attentive staff. There is maybe 9 tables inside and 5 outside on the sidewalk. Half of the staff spoke English. I started with the pork belly buns. The meat was a bit firm, but the marinade/sauce was delicious and the "bun" was very soft. Made for a good beginning combo. I ordered the Barnett burger, with Gouda cheese, bacon, and marinated red peppers. I added a fried egg on top and it was delicious. The fries were freshly cooked, hot and slightly crispy. Really, really solid burger for Mexico. I had the Bowie which I thought was delicious. My only complaint would be the Juliana de tortilla they added to the burger--basically crunchy tortilla strips. They didn't add to the taste and if anything added an unwelcome crunchy texture to some bites. Fries were tasty and I loved that they offered a variety of types of ketchup, all seemingly prepared by the restaurant: standard, seasonal, and spicy. Beer selection was also good. They have bacon wrapped fries! Highly recommended! Also, pretty good burgers. I've been there a couple times and ordered the Morrison (lamb patty, yogurt sauce, onions and tomato) and Barrett (beef patty, gouda, bacon, roasted red peppers). Both were excellent choices, although I'd definitely recommend ordering the meat cooked 1 step up from how you like it. i.e. my medium lamb burger was medium rare, super juicy and a bit bloody, while my medium well beef burger was perfectly medium, pink, and juicy. As for the drinks and ambiance, the place leans trendy and hipster, remniscent of a lot of high-end burger joints in large U.S. cities (as other reviewers have mentioned). They have a good selection of gin, some interesting cocktails, and a couple good craft beer options (I really enjoyed the Amalias Tezontle- red ale). They also apparently have boozy milkshakes, which I will have to try next time. read more

This is a burger place. If you come to Mexico City and really crave a burger this is the place. Burger had a good taste and came with many options. Had 4 types of sauces including ketchup. The fries were good. Onion rings were average. Drink menu was god as well. Ordered a jack and coke and it came with a glass with a shot of jack and a can if coke. It worked. Prices are about half what they would be in the states. Located in an amazing Neighborhood of Polanco with a lot of choices for restaurants. We had the bacon wrapped fries. They were good and a novel twist on things. They also have a heated patio for cold nights. read more

Probably the best hamburgers in Mexico City. I've been there a few times and have not been disappointed. My favorite is the Bowie Burger (all burgers are named after famous musicians). The restaurant is small and can get cramped. We were seated on the patio the last time I was there when it started to rain. Although the patio was covered, but we still got wet. Butcher & Sons is trying to be a trendy, high end burger joint like ones you would find in San Diego, San Francisco, New York, or any other major U.S. city going for that hip gastropub thing. Very nice decorations / ambience, so good on you design team who set the place up. Now on to the other stuff: Food: Caramelized onions. Swiss cheese. Foie Gras. All of this on a burger? Sounds like heaven on earth, right? Wrong. Greasy and flavorless, something that I thought would be impossible with this combination - I was expecting buttery, herby goodness. I also suspect that they are using a low (very low) quality foie gras because it was a tasteless paste falling apart on top of a greasy burger. I ate two bites and asked that it be taken away. Was not worth the calories, and summer is around the corner. Price: On par for this style of restaurant - I had a cocktail, truffle fries, and a burger + tip for $30 USD. One thing that put a very bad taste in my mouth is that the restaurant does not use the correct / current exchange rate - which is a big deal given their location in an area highly frequented by international (not just U.S.) visitors who may want to pay in U.S. dollars versus Mexican pesos. My bill came to 410 MXN pesos which is currently $26.90 USD. When the waiter gave me the bill, it of course listed the price in pesos, but it also listed the USD price as $45.10! Totally unacceptable. If you are paying with a card, it is no big deal because your bank will make the adjustment, however if you wanted to pay in cash with USD you would have been ripped off to the tune of $18.20 - not cool. I most certainly do not want to be a customer at a place that thinks its cool to rip people off. Customer Service: Not awful, not great. One thing that stuck out is that the waiter and manager asked how I liked my food, given the fact that I ate two bites. I told them why, and was still charged the full price / not offered anything else. I have been living in Mexico for the past two years (Tijuana, now Mexico City) and without a doubt a manager in Tijuana would have comped the meal or offered a dessert / drink - if not both. Final verdict, I won't be back. If dragged back by friends I would only go for cocktails - which are quite good. They are known for their gin cocktails, so stick to those. read more

The Bowie Burger is great, but not the best I ever had (doesn't match the "Catalana" burguer at "Boquería" in Guadalajara). Dinner here last night was so fun and the food was great! We ordered the barbecue hamburger and it was excellent and the best part we ordered the meat medium-rare and it came out correctly. Truffle fries were good...but we loved the onion rings. My favorite dish were the buffalo chicken wings...best I've had. Deserts were just ok.. Drinks good...service good....dinner and drinks for 4 of us was about $130 USD. Going back for sure! read more
