    Hummus, Squash Blossoms & Burrata
    Matt H.

Unfortunately not great. We came in for dinner due to hearing great things and it being a gorgeous space. Service was good and attentive but unfortunetly thats where the good kind of ended. We planned on staying for a full dinner but after ordering the hummus, burrata and squash blossoms we were so underwhelmed we immedatley left. The food wasnt bad in terms of it tasting bad it just tasted like nothing, each dish we got was virtually flavorless. The bottle of wine we got was great but outside of that the food was truly not good. We wanted to love Lardo and I am sure it is great due to all the great reviews however our experience wasn't such. I would give them another shot next time I am in CDMX but my advice would be to avoid the appetizers at least.

We loved Lardo, a nice stroll from our Parque Mexico flat. This is the type of place you can find in any city and it will always draw a crowd due to the comfortable yet bougie devour and menu with endless appealing choices. Service was excellent and it was fun to watch each table enjoying themselves. All different languages being spoken. The menu... wow.. and the pastries, we skipped but really considered for a moment. We split a corn cake that was excellent and an egg bowl with calabaza(squash blossoms) and spinach. Delicious coffee, my mint green tea has pinoli nuts in the pot. Best to go early and during the week, as with so many places. But you still might wait. After, we walked over to Chapultepec Park and enjoyed the day there.

I guess it's know for breakfast but we had the best dinner there last night. We were at first bummed we had to sit at the bar (party of five) but it turned out to be the best seats in the house. I started with a wonderful glass of Montepulciano. Then I ordered the black rice and crab croquettes. So delicious. I shared the heirloom tomato salad and it was absolutely perfect. I then had the eggplant parmesan. Wow so good. We shared two desserts....carrot cake and sticky toffee pudding. We were so full but we watched the dessert being made in front of us the whole night and we couldn't resist. Yum! Shout out to Florencio for being so wonderful and contributing to our favorite meal in Mexico City!

Our plans revolved around Mexican food but we found Lardo to be one of the only early breakfast options close to us. We got a table easily shortly after 8 am -- but I think there's often a wait during more "normal" hours. The restaurant is very well decorated and pretty large for the area. We got a corner table with a view out the French doors. Even the bathroom is cute and well appointed! There was a pretty extensive drink menu from coffees and juices to more unusual juice mixes. They also have alternative milk options. I got a mocha and it was delicious and rich without being overly sweet. Several in our party had egg options and raved about them. As they're known for pastries, I ordered a fig croissant and a cardamom bun. There were so many options! The fig croissant was a nice croissant with a fig jam along the bottom layer, but the cardamom bun was the star. I regret that I can't get more! We didn't come back for other meals as we wanted to try a lot of places, but I'd happily eat here multiple times a week.

The food here was reviving. I ordered the poached egg dish that came on a bed of bread chunks, spinach and Asiago cheese. We had about a 40 min wait for a group of 8. The server was gracious and patient with our group. We also really enjoyed the fresh juices.

This is one of the top 3 meals I've had in my life. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever had. Their scrambled eggs are velvety smooth and paired with crunchy yet springy sourdough and tender bacon. Additionally, their pastries are crafted to perfection. The sweetness of the croissant was spot on and it was flaky and buttery as could be. Genuinely, this place develops a depth of flavor I've never experienced before and it's perfectly representative of what a CDMX cafe/brunch experience should be. In addition to the high quality food, the service is incredibly kind, accommodating, and quick. Though it was busy, we were seated and served swiftly without feeling rushed. The entire dining experience felt relaxing and energizing at the same time. The restaurant vibes are calm yet bustling and the ambience is spacious and beautiful decorated with fauna. I want to have breakfast here every day. You cannot miss an opportunity to try Lardo if you're in CDMX. GO HERE 1000%

Guava roll and leek and goat cheese bun

After seeing so many TikToks about this place, my sister really wanted to try it out for herself. It can be moderately difficult to get a reservation, so I definitely recommend scheduling one at least a few days in advance. However, my party of four arrived around 12 pm to try to walk in, and we only waited about 20 minutes before being seated. Once we sat down, we realized the menu was breakfast-based instead of their usual dinner menu. The breakfast options were a bit ordinary, but we still found things that appealed to us. My sister and I started with some pastries, including the guava roll and the leek and goat cheese bun. The guava was perfectly sweet, and the leek and goat cheese filling was savory and addicting, especially for someone like me who naturally prefers savory foods. The pastry dough itself was great too, super flaky and fluffy at the same time. The drinks, on the other hand, were nothing special. I ordered the grapefruit juice, and I highly recommend that no one ever order it. It was incredibly bitter and genuinely unpleasant to drink. The carrot, jicama, and ginger juice tasted like one of those wellness shots you'd get from a health bar in California. The coconut macadamia and cardamom drink tasted like holiday almond milk, which I actually kind of enjoyed, especially since it's the holiday season. I originally wanted to try the buttermilk and sweet potato hotcakes, but they had already run out, so I settled for the green chilaquiles with a fried egg instead. I was disappointed when it came without the burrata that the menu promised, and overall it was a pretty standard chilaquiles dish. The cactus pieces didn't do anything for me, but I did appreciate the addition of avocado since I'm a huge avocado lover. While I do think this restaurant has potential, I wouldn't recommend for anyone to visit when their breakfast/lunch menu is active since it is pretty standard with options that could be found at other typical brunch restaurants. If I could, I would come back again to try their dinner venue since I've heard so many good things about it.

One of the best brunch places near Roma Norte in Mexico City A lot of good options and their egg dishes are excellent He started off with their natural juices, green juice, the coconut juice and the orange juice, and also the fruit oat and yogurt pudding And then we tried some heuvos rancheros and fried egg dishes, which were all really good Their shakshuka is really good and their guava bread is excellent Coffees are really good too It's rated very high and so there is a lot of folks on the weekend which could lead to a 20 to 30 minute wait They also make sure that they give you refreshments outside or when you're waiting so you could order a little bit ahead of time A lot of seating inside ,near the bar and outside as well Service was good

Don't skip on the pizza here! Very impressed by the pizza, especially the spicy salami pizza. I love the thin crust dough, and the fact that the pizza portion is small which mean you get to enjoy more dishes! The rabbit pasta was not memorable and probably worth skipping. Burrata appetizer was good, tho it lacked a bit of salt to bring out the flavors. Croquette appetizer was delicious. The sticky toffee dessert was our favorite. Not a big fan of the soursop and plum dessert unfortunately as the flavors didn't work well together. Would come back again just for the pizza.

Great Whole Foods that are cooked right at the counter if your sitting at the bar. The location is great sitting amongst the trees and plenty of open lighting. The mocha was good, I also ordered the huevos poached espinaca, flor de calabaza y salsa de queso. Such a great healthy dish and not too heavy. Service from staff was polite and helpful with ordering!

I went here for breakfast during my visit to Mexico City. What an amazing experience the food is so worth the visit and the atmosphere and employees are excellent. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for good food and a nice place to hang out with friends and family. 10 out of 10!

Different perspectives on Pain Perdu, Tartines, Ouefs en Cocotte, and Croque Monsieurs are to be found on nearly every corner in La Condesa & La Roma. Catalina is part of this newer outbreak of French cookeries, offering its own take on dishes from la belle France. Stepping into Catalina is a mixture of different cultures, experiences and ambiances. The seating outside follows the norm of La Roma, of happy, well-off types sipping coffee, wine, or beer, depending on the hour; the inside with its own unique scene: a Parisian look with a bright interior and elegant table settings on marble countertops; the decor following a New York aesthetic, a couple of pictures of Penn Station hanging on a bright white wall that round out a Brooklyn-like vibe; the owner sitting in the back, watching with vigilant eyes, inspecting every aspect of service. The meal, in the morning, starts with baked goods, which are made in a neighboring bakery. The conchas are flavorful albeit an odd texture, the croissants and pain aux amandes full of flakiness and buttery goodness. The breakfast menu is short but appetizing. The open faced sandwiches are one of the most delicious offerings, Pan Campesino is topped off with scrambled eggs, shaved cheeses, and seasonal mushrooms. The frittata is also a good option, served in an iron skillet with a couple of slices of artisanal bread. The often photographed Pan Francés is indeed a pretty sight. Served with a poached egg, scallions, maple syrup, and a thick slice of bacon, it is meant to portray a play of sweetness and saltiness, and although personally I am not convinced about the flavor combinations, most people crave fried chicken and waffles, so I will leave it up to those who enjoy these kind of things. It seems that gastronomes everywhere cannot get enough French food, and even though I believe Mexicans should be proud of their own cuisine and should endeavor more and more to explore the vastness and depth of Mexican gastronomy, having a piece of sweet French toast readily available is a good option to have.

But we heard the buzz about Monsieur Croque in Roma Norte, and we figured we'd test the hype. Our move? We arrived just after opening and walked right to a table, which is the only way to do it here. Don't let the size fool you--it's a small-to-medium spot, but it's a constant revolving door. People flow in, they eat, they flow out, and the line outside starts forming fast. Clearly, this place is the anchor for brunch in the neighborhood. We went with a holy trinity of items, and every one of them was operating on a level I wasn't ready for. - The Croissant'wich: The pastry was buttery and held its structure, and the filling wasn't just stuffed in--it was seriously seasoned. It was savory, rich, and exactly what you want from a brunch sandwich. - The Avocado Toast: I've had more than enough bland avo toast to last a lifetime. This one is different. The bread was robust, the toppings were generous, and the overall flavor profile was precise. They know how to use salt and pepper (and whatever else they're sprinkling on there) without overdoing it. - The French Toast: It was fluffy, tender, and achieved that rare balance where it was sweet without being syrupy or heavy (they actually use a berry compote rather than syrup). It's the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes for a second. If you're in Roma Norte and need a solid breakfast/brunch that's beyond the usual fare, hit up Monsieur Croque. Go early, grab a coffee, and get ready for a serious meal. The vibe is chill, the service is tight, and the food is pretty tasty. 4/5 stars. If you're into healthy flavours, you'll like it. With no additives, the flavours depend on what's added so it's not a crazy flavour. Two of us had the avocado toasts - one bacon and one salmon. The bacon had an obscene amount of bacon on it. We shared around the table. And the salmon was more conservative. I think there was a whole avocado on the toast. Toast was a little too toasted for me, was more like a crouton and the salmon avocado toasts lacked a spice to it. It needed some chili flakes to finish the dish or a sharp cheese. The French toast was like a sweet, eggy brioche. Delicious. No complaints. Don't get it if you don't like sweet things. The coffee and tea drinks we had were good but not the best I've had.
