Porter was another happy accident while enjoying CDMX. We were walking around the Polanco area when all of a sudden it started to rain. Porter has a nice overhang which covers the entire sidewalk in front of it. We were just going to get a drink while waiting for the rain to stop, but that changed with the order of tacos and grilled octopus. WOW! Had to be the best grilled octopus we had while in Mexico and probably the best ever, anywhere. The garlic sauce it comes with is dip worthy so ask for some extra bread to soak it all up. Drinks are also really good too and the prices for what you're getting super fair. read more

An incredible wine list lives here and so does a great energy and fun staff. The music played here is wonderful from a he Scorpions, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Twisted Sister to Madonna all so fun. The wine list ranges from Mexican to Argentinian to Spain and all must be tried to enjoy. We suggest sharing the 500g items or ordering two 250g Steak plates - however, before you leave here one must have their amazingly contructed mashed potatoes. They are a combination of cubed potatoes with creamed potatoes and mashed potatoes and the most flavorful version of this dish I have ever had. Much Gracias, Porter! Stopped into Porter on a whim and had a great time. The menu is filled with traditional Mexico City dishes like Tuna Tostadas, while also having many American items like burgers and fries. The cocktails were fabulous, especially the Espresso Martinis. The ambiance was great, more on the upscale side of things with great modern decor throughout and a beautiful bar. Service was quite good and attentive throughout the whole meal. My buddy and I came here for a light bite, would definitely head back to try more of the menu upon my next visit. read more

I went to Porter last night as a cautious attempt to get a good steak.. I had read reviews and was worried by one that said the steak was over cooked... Nevertheless I decided to give it a shot as I thought México City.. Impossible for bad steak... Roasted Artichokes were great, spicey margarita was great. After that not so great. Ordered the New York rare medium rare. It came well done. Sent it back. They made it again and it was v tepid in the middle which tells me the chef has not mastered the art of cooking a steak quickly to cook the outside to a nice sear with a blackened edge whilst the inside is rare to medium and juicy and hot. The inside was barely warm and pretty tasteless. The arugula salad has so much dressing, the salad was the addition rather than the other way around. The most expensive meal in n CDMX and the worst. I had no heart to tell the Maitre D as he was so nice. So disappointed. read more

We had a wonderful time celebrating my mother-in-laws birthday here tonight. We had a large group and arrived early enough in the Polanco neighborhood to find room at Porter's for all of us. The staff was accomodating and made us feel welcome. One of managers of the restaurant even approved making a special cocktail for us tonight that I had the recipe for (Tuscan Sidecar). Great service, meat is on the menu and generally fantastic food. They even have thermal scan if you have a temp. They have a private dining room but they will only serve up to four people due to Covid rules. Sure enough an inspector showed up. They have it all under control. Everything we ordered was on point. Cannot say I've had a better meal in Mexico City. Don't miss it but they close at ten so the days of staying open all night are over. Get there early. We got there at seven and still felt we should have been there earlier. Then go out and check out the whole street it's fantastic. read more

This review is only for the bar/dance area. The music is a very strange and poorly curated American music. It feels as if it doesn't care what kind of music it is so long as it's American. The crowd was more "mature"--air quotes because the whole the crowd was older, they were acting like drunk college kids.--the drinks were decent and service was quick but the vibe was just lacking all around. A little further up the street you'll find a much better selection of music that sets a sexy, chill and sophisticated vibe. Definitely pass on this joint. We didn't try the food so if that's your purpose for visiting please disregard my review. read more

If you're visiting Mexico City, please don't pay twice what you can for amazing food to eat mediocre food here. The only good thing is the bread and sauce that comes before the meal. For a group of 10, our order was messed up for 3 members of our party. Additionally, the food itself was just not good. The only item we ordered as a party that we enjoyed was the grilled salmon. We did NOT like the shrimp tacos, crab taco, ribeye, prime rib, tuna steak, or steak tacos. They also overcharged us by 2 steaks, which we had to dispute with the manager. One party member ordered a well-done steak, which was brought medium rare. When he mentioned this, the waiter said "I can make it well done in the microwave." It's hard to believe that's actually something that can be said in a relatively expensive steak restaurant. The music in the restaurant is also suuuper loud and makes conversation hard. We asked to turn it down, but the manager told us that it had to be loud enough for the tables on the sidewalk (outside the restaurant, where there are two rows of tables) to hear. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. This city is full of incredible, CHEAP food and great venues. Don't come here. read more

This place is amazing! We just had dinner and drinks there in the pouring rain. The food and drinks were very good. I asked for an umbrella for my wife to walk home with and a server walked us half a mile back to the hotel (Hyatt) with a table umbrella!!! Food was fine, nothing special just average steak and seafood. But SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. Long story short, I asked them to wrap the octopus dish up for to go because I barely touched the dish. When I got home, I found just half of the food that I actually left and a few pieces of unidentified bones (probably pork) together. But why????????? I guess they threw away by mistake and took them out of trash when I asked them again if they have my food ready to go. I don't know what have happened there, but it was just not pleasing. read more

In Mexico you run into the issue that they call "robalo" Seabass. It's a white, flakey fish, but it is no Seabass. Porter is the first restaurant I've found to serve actual Seabass.... And it was incredible! Menu was robust, as was wine list. Minus one star because I could swear my grey goose tasted watered down (though my scotch didn't so maybe the shaker just had melted ice in it?) and it's a beautiful patio, though expect A LOT of beggers. This is pretty prevalent in Mexico City it seems, but management could do a better job of deterring. Not exactly cheap, but great spot for a nice dinner or a special occasion. read more
