On our last night in Mexico City we driver to change things up from traditional tacos and eat at a steak house. The place is very nicely Decorated with a classy feel. While the food was great, the waiter ruined the whole experienced. He over charged us and they didn't know how to refund me. After a lengthy back and forth they figured it out and pulled it off. Look at what you're paying for before you run your card. We had similar problems at a ton of places.

Late dinner in Mexico City, very mediocre. Everything looked really good, but most dishes were under seasoned. The short rib was braised for 24 hours, but didn't taste beefy. The suckling pig tacos were super tender, but again no "porky" goodness, just really tender meat. Shrimp ceviche was fishy, needed more acid to cook down. Desserts were the same. Cheese cake was more gelatinous, less cream chee-sey. There were many chili sauces to accompany every dish, maybe I didn't use enough. Guess I expected each dish to stand on its own flavors. Service was really good and turned this 2.5 star review into a 3 star. We'll try again tomorrow in Monterrey.

Before I came here, I had no idea how big nine hundred grams of meat was. Surprise: it's a lot! The wait staff were pleasant and helpful, and the food was fantastic. We had our meal on the very top floor of the building. Drinks were strong; the wine picked by the wine sommelier was great and reasonably priced. The whole experience was wonderful. When I am in town, you can always count on me to return for the excellent food and service. We loved it!

Where do I even start!!!! We were here in early July and the experience was amazing!!! Our server I believe his name was Isais or Efrain and he was the best! Our bussers name was Andres I believe and he was very attentive. The vibes in this place are great and the food well its extremely good. Do yourself a favor and definitely go here when in Mexico City. You won't regret it! 10/10 will definitely be back!

I will say that the food and (most) of the service was excellent. One of our more delicious restaurant meals while in CDMX. Everything was delicious. Great ambiance and prices for the amount and quality are good. You receive complimentary chips, bean dip and salsas to start and to end you receive complimentary ice-cream on a cone. I would have given this place a solid 5 star review if it weren't for what I call some shady add ons to alcoholic beverages. When our waiter saw that my husband and I were both done with our beverages, there was another immediately on the way. We did not ask for it, but it was actually ok because we were each going to order a second round. What I have a problem with is if we didn't not want a second round and having the alcohol being placed on our table. All they needed to do was ask.

On our first night in Mexico City we had dinner with close friends after a phenomenal day at Teotihuacan. This is a fancy steak restaurant with the dining level on the second floor. The decorum is modern with dark wood paneling and dim lighting. The music is loud so make sure you are seated close or you'll end up needing to scream. Wait staff are very attentive however so you won't need to yell to get service. For starters they brought out some tortillas with a set of 6 sauces of varying degrees of intensity, which were very good, and after dinner was over and paid we got a shot glass with sweet cream and a sprig of churos. The emphasis is to make sure customers are treated well and leave with something sweet on their minds. I was impressed with the beef tray that was displayed before we ordered our main course which had a tomahawk stake, and a huge porterhouse, and several other cuts that included a petite filet. For our main course I shared a 25 oz rib-eye steak with Julio that was served on a block of heated pink Himalayan salt. It was on the salty side but very cool as I've seen but never had it served on salt before. The quality of the cut was decent too. We also added Asparagus to complete the order. Probably one of the main attractions for this place is that all drinks are two for the price of one. I ordered a margarita and didn't have to ask for my second, which arrived as soon as the first one was finished. Similarly, I had a shot of 43 and the second shot was poured in a similar fashion. Nice! We had one mishap with the waiter who dropped one of our orders on my friends wife's lap. Thankfully, it was a half piece of grilled artichoke that fell off the hot plate as the plate was being put on the table. Had this been hot liquid it might have been a different result. We had a great time and definitely would come again!

Whether for a special occasion or a get together. Great place to go eat, the food was delicious and the service was great.

This place is absolutely amazing!!! The service was great, and I love the interior decorations. The beef tacos were so tasty. And the steak was very well done. Love the snack most!! The drinks were quite refreshing. I wish I could eat more--there were a bunch of dishes that I want to try. I feel like the place is not that easy to find, perhaps it's because its entrance is on the second floor and you have to take the elevator to access. The elevator is kinda "hidden" so be really careful when you see the Starbucks--they are very close to each other. will definitely go to this restaurant again if I visit Mexico again in the future!!

The place is really nice, but I actually prefer Sonora Grill, not prime. The quality of food is better and I like the more extensive menu. This is a nice place with good food and service.

The windows don't close. We were freezing.

I wanted to make it a point to seek out some authentic oaxacan mole, so I chose this spot that was recommended by eater.com and the Michelin guide. Had the black mole with duck breast, which was served with rice and a plantain. It was so good as the flavors were so complex and they paired really well with the perfectly cooked duck, the rice, and my fruity cocktail. On that note, I ordered one of their speciality cocktails with passionfruit and it was so good. I actually enjoyed my cocktail, made with fresh fruit, here more than the world renowned bar down the street. Also got salsa made tableside and an appetizer of pork taquitos (which, in this context, were tiny tacos). Both were flavor bombs. Overall, we are glad that we stopped by to get a sampling of very flavorful food from this restaurant and I'd definitely come back!

The space itself is lovely -- a well-designed hall with elegantly set tables, fresh flowers, and a charming courtyard with greenery that adds to the atmosphere. It feels upscale and calm, and when we visited, it was not crowded, which made it even more peaceful. However, the service and food did not quite match the setting. The staff were not particularly welcoming, and communication was a bit challenging as most did not speak much English. While manageable, it did affect the overall experience. They began with a bread basket (bread and croissants), which unfortunately did not feel fresh or warm -- something you would expect at a place with this level of presentation. We ordered a couple of dishes along with a fruit bowl: * The fruit lacked the freshness and ripeness you typically find in Mexico, even at casual local spots. * The main dishes were average in flavor -- nothing stood out, and they felt somewhat generic rather than reflective of local cuisine.

The interior is pretty plain, with some Oaxacan art on the walls, apparently available for purchase. We were served tortilla chips with samples of 3 moles (Negro, Coloradito and I think the 3rd was Mancha Manteles) and 2 salsas. As my wife and I primarily went to Barro Negro to sample moles, it was great that we could taste them before committing to a full entree. They were all very good and very different. If you think all moles are 'a Mexican chocolate sauce,' then you'll be surprised at the different varieties. The salsas were all very good and on the spicy side. For entree, I ordered the Mole Coloradito and my wife got the Mole Negro. Both were served with a chicken leg/thigh quarter covered in a very generous pool of mole, along with a small amount of rice and beans. For me, it was the right amount of mole (a lot!) and rice and beans (a small portion of each). The Coloradito is a sweeter mole, very smooth and rich. It was excellent. The Negro is smoky, almost burnt tasting. I happened to know that the cooking process includes burning chile seeds and adding them to the mixture. To me, it was kind of ashy and not to my taste. My wife said that she really liked it and the flavor mellows as you eat more. At any rate, if you're familiar with Mole Poblano, which is also very dark, the Oaxacan black mole is a totally different dish. As it was late, we chose not to get any dessert. The service was attentive and quick, not surprising given that the restaurant we empty. We enjoyed our food very much and highly recommend Barro Negro for sampling Oaxacan moles.
