Caesar split and chef's choice tacos
Mike G.

First time trying Ember and stopped in on a Saturday around 5 PM. Remarkably they had happy hour specials going. $3.50 well drinks and $4 house wines and a number of items on the happy hour menu to eat and drink. The restaurant is large enough with good bar space and two dining sections. Overall it gives a nice quaint ambience with a big wood fired oven in view from the bar. I ordered an Old Forester well bourbon on the rocks and my wife ordered a glass of red wine. We followed up later with the second round. We enjoyed our drinks and chose to try a handful of items off the happy hour menu. We started with the brie, the chef's choice tacos, the oven roasted olives, and the Caesar salad. Everything had a wood fired flare. The oven roasted olives were a nice order meaty and oven hot. The Brie was wood fired melted with a side of house jam and what I would call a ciabatta roll. It was my favorite. Again very good. The chef choice tacos were beef and came as an order of 2 small but tasty tacos. We shared the Caesar salad which had a nice smoky flavor with a tasty dressing and overall good. Everything was fine and definitely above average and would probably order those again. There's a pretzel and chicharrones also on the HH menu We ordered a Meatzilla Fire bread off the main menu which was tasty thin pizza. A little thin crust for me but everything was fresh and good quality. $1 charge for parmasian cheese. I would likely come back again to try some of the mainstay entrées, like scallops, bone-in pork chop and ribeye steak which looked a little pricey but again sometimes you get what you pay for. Looking forward to our next trip. I would definitely stop by and try the happy hour for excellent drinks and some tasty shareables and remarkably inexpensive drinks. We generally don't order dessert but tried the Eula May which was a sour dough pound cake. It was excellent. I would rate this restaurant at a 4.5, however, it is much better than many of the places I've tried in Brunswick or Saint Simons Island. I'd make a final rating once I try again and taste the entrees. The Yelp average of 4.2 is way too low for this place. I chose to give it a 5.0 rather than a 4.0. Definitely worth trying.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ember! Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. After enjoying happy hour drinks ($4 for house wine), we opted for the wood-fire pizza, which did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious and so was the Eula Mae dessert (pound cake, fresh cream, and berries). 10 out of 10 experience!

Very nice - elegant - expensive - steak and seafood restaurant. We had the Hogs in a Quilt as the appetizer and they were amazing! The steak was very very good , definitely the best steak on the island and in the Brunswick area.

The great place to celebrate! We were able to celebrate my sister's 58th birthday here before we ended our weekend trip, and we are all happy we were able to get reservations. The ambience, decor and service, met our expectation for "fine dining" and the food provides a delicious experience sealing the deal. The poundcake is the best dessert- we all got a second order to go.

Ember is one of my favorite restaurants on St. Simons Island! The food and service are always great and the ambiance is perfect for a great evening out with friends or date night! I love that many of the menu items are locally sourced! You can choose from delicious pork, seafood, or beef dishes that are paired with tasty vegetables and sides. So many unique options that change with the seasons. I love going to Ember and trying different masterpieces the chef has created!

So so, so good. We got the snapper special with veggies, grits, asparagus and I got the beet salad. Great experience will be back.

Perfectly prepared redfish, over grits with roasted veggies. AMAZING, even as a to go order

Fast service and the food was great. It's a must go while on the island. The prices are good and you will not leave hungry!

The food was mediocre and the prices were high. The egg roll was the only good thing on the menu. Won't be coming back.

We just went a few times for happy hour. Great deals for wine and about 5 or 6 appetizers. Caesar salad, brie and tacos were all very good.

Good food. Loved that Brie. Don't normally eat pulled pork but that egg roll was amazing. Good drinks and service. Thank you.

Golden Isles Olive Oil - Salmon

Golden Isles Olive Oil

One of my favorite restaurants on the island! Excellent and very tasty food and drink options…read more Always a couple of excellent vegetarian or gluten free options. Cocktails are beautifully presented, esp recommend the lemon drop martini. It's in a converted Ponderosa Steak House location so that's a little weird, but they've upgraded it as well as possible. Store on left side of cafe also has nice gift options and outstanding choices of flavored olive oils and vinegars.

Tried Golden Isles Olive Oil on a Tuesday as my wife saw an online Tuesday wine tasting $5 cover…read moreand made a reservation on Open Table. We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.

It's a sports bar/restaurant adjacent to a number of shops. We were seated inside with a view of their outdoor dining and charming moss covered trees. The waitress was prompt and friendly. I was very thirsty after our flight and started with an Arnold Palmer (half tea half lemonade). Quite often these are watered down, but this one was robust. Nice menu with lots of good choices and a few unusual ones - like my husband's "hamburger without the bun" - a large hamburger atop a big mixed salad. He loved it. My grilled hamburger was ordered medium/medium rare and came out perfect. It came with grilled mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles on a fresh bun - juicy and tasty. But as good or better were the onion rings - perfectly crispy and delicious. I am not exaggerating but my husband and I both thought they were the best we've ever had - and we've been married 52 years!

The chicken quesadilla was delicious with a ton of meat, could have used some hot sauce to really bring it over the top. Service was great, place should have better reviews than what is shown. Definitely recommend!!
