Not only was the quality of the contractor's work excellent, but Tammy and the contractor also patiently provided me with thoughtful pointers on my own novice DIY projects in progress- painting, reflooring a room, tearing up carpet. She took time to understand my "vision" for fixing up the place, and showed a genuine curiosity and appreciation for how the work was shaping up. After searching for a couple of months and being frustrated by no callbacks and outrageous quotes I contacted VRC Management and couldn't be happier that I did. Jozef and his team were extremely attentive throughout the entire process, completed the work in a very reasonable time frame, and had competitive rates. Jozef even walked me through a couple of additional items that made a huge difference in the remodel including painting the cabinets instead of replacing (I don't know how they did it but they turned out perfectly), moving a cabinet for better sight lines, making a waterfall edge to update the counter, and putting a light in the newly installed stand up shower in the bathroom. All of the work is extremely high quality including some of the best tile work I have seen (and there was a lot of it). We are on the third floor of a walk up condo, and we have a private rooftop deck. We started…read moregetting leaks in the ceiling in two places in our kitchen, and called about a half a dozen places in and around the city to come out and assess. The proposals were all over the place. Some companies said it couldn't be done without ripping off the rooftop deck and repairing everything. Some companies said it wasn't the roof at all, it was condensation inside the house? Jeff at Rollin Contracting was way more honest and practical in his assessment. He pointed out where he suspected the two leaks were coming from, but said that you never really know until you rip up the roof and move the air conditioner and take a look. He told us that roof repair was tricky, that the guys who said we might have to replace the whole roof could be right. But he wouldn't start with that, he would start with the less expensive approach. Granted, there was the risk that if it didn't work, we would have wasted that money when they re-did the whole roof, but we decided to gamble on a $2000 repair rather than jump into the $12,000 repair of the whole roof. Rollin Contracting was the only one who was honest and open and gave us options. He was also the one who was most confident in where he thought the leaks were coming from. It has now been one month since they repaired both potential sources of the leak, and neither of the leaks have come back. And in case you haven't been paying attention, we've gotten absolutely drenched this May. Meaning there is no doubt in my mind that they successfully fixed the leaks. The contractors that came to do the work were great, they didn't even enter the house. I offered to let them come inside to get to the rooftop, and they said they preferred to just go up and over to keep our house clean. While taking up the wooden boards on the rooftop deck to do the roof repair, they accidentally broke one of the boards. They went to Home Depot and replaced the board that day. Not a big deal, and super quick to fix it. Also, at the last minute (after we had signed the contract), I realized that I had forgotten to ask them about the fireplace, which also occasionally drips water during bad storms. I asked Jeff if he would have his guys look at the chimney to see if they could identify the source of the potential leak and to let me know what his recommendations were to have that fixed as well. He went ahead and had his guys caulk it while they were up there without even charging us. I know that's probably not a huge expense, but it was still a nice gesture to just throw that in. So across the board it was a great experience. Would definitely work with these guys again and recommend them with confidence.

Please think twice before hiring this contractor - it will not be worth it if there are any uncertainties re: your project and they will say anything to get your job. We hired Jeff to perform some deck work for our three flat. Jeff quoted us $6K to replace certain posts and railings. One year later, additional work was clearly required because railings were loose and Jeff performed an additional $3K worth of work. At no time to Jeff represent himself as anything other than qualified to perform the work. Turns out he never even got a permit for the work. We were cited by the city for non-compliance shortly after his second round of work. He complied with fixing some of the issues identified. When he met with the inspector to review the work and confirm compliance, he essentially yelled, screamed, stormed off and refused to fix any of the additional work. We are now left with a deck that still needs work, $12K later. Jeff continues not to respond to emails/requests for him to finish his work. Jeff misrepresented his ability to do deck work according to city law and code. His unprofessionalism in resolving the issue that he created (he should have just said his people didnt do deck work maybe instead of doing a poor job and then getting upset when someone challenged him to do the work properly) was so disappointing. Do not work with this contractor.

I received a quick response and George came out to take a look at everything we wanted to do and provided an estimate later in the week. Once I had a chance to review all my estimates I contacted AGH and gave them the green light. They were able to start work on my projects within a week. Here are the projects I had them work on: -Custom built cabinet/pantry in my kitchen -Custom backsplash above my kitchen counter/sink -Remove/install new cabinet by my stove -Recaulk bathroom window in my shower From start to finish it took them about a week. Pretty reasonable given the amount of work I had done. They also stayed within the original budget that was quoted. They were also very clean and the workers that were in and out of my condo were very polite. I will definitely call them again for my next projects. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the communication could have been better coordinated. It seems they have different contacts for all aspects: estimates, payments, and actual work. This is my only knock on AGH, but overall I am very happy with all the work performed in my condo!

I never questioned materials or cost until the end I asked for an itemized bill for materials used and they became very defensive and told me in all their years of work they have never had to prove their purchases. During the project, once they instilled the floors in the kitchen, when I went to check it was very uneven. I could feel a massive area that dipped and I knew this was going to be an issue long term. Robert insisted that they would not redo this area and that this is just common with condo buildings. The flooring in my kitchen cracked not even a month into living there. My living room space has multiple scratches and holes everywhere. This is not normal for spending over $14,000 on flooring and labor. Moving on to wainscotting. When we agreed they would do the walls, he told me painting would be included and he would go over it twice. His team painted the walls for the first time and I Hated the color it was so yellow when everything was finished. I called and kindly asked him if he could go over it with a paint that we BOUGHT completely. He said yes. Kindly I thought we understood that we would not be charged since they had to go over it a second time anyway! AND WE BOUGHT the material of paint. But instead he blindly billed me another $600 without ever clarifying. Lastly, his team ripped off all my closet doors to get flooring into the closets. They did not take into account or gave a shit that they completely ripped open the holes in my ceiling to the point where all my closet doors have been hanging on by a thread all year after their project and now has come down and I need to find a way to re drill holes in different areas to get new doors up. The project from start to finish was a complete scam. The customer service was piss poor. I'm truly disappointed. Being a young girl in Chicago planning for my wedding trusting a company to remodel my room and dishing out OVER $20,000 that I wasn't expecting all for me to have to piss out more money to fix everything that went wrong is so disheartening.
