First of all, I genuinely hoped that I would be writing a positive review of this company as my first impressions and interactions with the owner, Bob, were very good, but alas, that is not why I find myself writing this review. To be quite frank, I cannot comment on the quality of their work since the job I had hired them to do was never completed. Originally, I had reached out to both E.L.M. and another company for a quote on trimming a tree in my backyard, and the other company gave me a better deal, but they never showed up, so I decided to go with E.L.M. and their more expensive quote in the hopes that their more professional communication, the abundance of positive reviews, and higher quote meant I would be overall happier with the experience. My original appointment was set for the morning of Monday, April 26th, but there was a bit of rain that morning. By 12:00 P.M. nobody had shown up and I had not heard from the company so I called the main office to get an update and was told that I would get a call back ASAP. Bob called me in under five minutes to let me know I was still on the schedule for the day, the rain had just put them a bit behind schedule, which is completely understandable. I asked when the crew would show up and he told me it should be any minute and they were probably grabbing lunch then heading over since our original appointment was for the morning. That explanation was entirely reasonable to me, and I was still pleased with the communication and professionalism exhibited by Bob and his company. But, at 4:00 P.M. the crew still had not shown up, and I was starting to get a bit angry. I called Bob and had to leave a voicemail asking what was going on and if my tree was still going to get trimmed. He called me back immediately to tell me that his foreman had somehow messed up the schedule and my tree was no longer on the list for the day, but they could squeeze me in on Tuesday. This did not work for me and my work schedule so I told him it would have to be the following Monday, May 3rd. This appointment was set up with a fairly large window for arrival (7:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.) and I was still unhappy, and it did not sit well with me that Bob had shifted the blame to his employee, so I called Bob one more time to let him know that I wanted a guarantee that we would be the first job of the day and ask for a discount since this entire situation was their fault. To my surprise, Bob agreed to give me a discount and told me I would have the updated quote and contract to sign in my email either that evening or the next morning. By the end of the next day, Tuesday, April 27th, I had not received the updated quote so I sent Bob a text asking for an update. He never responded. On Friday, April 30th I called Bob to get to the bottom of this situation. Bob picked up and was immediately aggressive when I gave him my name and asked for an update. He told me his only update was that I have an appointment for Monday, May 3rd between 7:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M., no mention of the discount I had been promised by him. Of course, I asked for an update on the discount situation, to which he responded that he never promised me a discount and he doesn't give discounts just for rescheduling. Needless to say, I was not happy, so I canceled my appointment and have decided to take my business elsewhere. I'm sure this company does lovely work based on the reviews here, but Bob has proven that small jobs fall through the cracks, and customer service is not exactly a priority to the company. My advice, perhaps rethink hiring this company if you only have one tree in need of trimming. Also, I'm sure Bob is going to reply to and report my review since that seems to be his pattern with all negative reviews here. read more

After having Bob come out to cut down the trees at my rental, I had him cut down two queen palms and trim up all my other ones. ( capital letters) has already reached out to apologize for something he had nothing to do with. Meanwhile the owner of elm (lower case) tree trimming who DID have the appointment with me and simply blew me off, hasn't called at all to apologize. Evidently they have so much business they don't need more so I'm in favor of helping with that. Steer clear of elm tree trimming (lower case) aka Jenson Brothers. They give quotes, make appointments then blow you off. Meanwhile E.L.M. Bob, Pedro and team did a great job with my tree cutting and trimming work. I had them out to my property in wine country to take care of tree work for two days. Did such a great job I had them back out to take care of a rental property. These guys run a well tuned factory / service. They show up exactly on time everyday. Yes Bob, I heard from Pedro within an hour of posting this review. It is shameful that it took that drastic a measure to get a response. Pedro did provide an updated estimate but by that time I had already contacted several other services for estimates. Most of which have come in at a lower cost. I replied to Pedro that I would review all estimates, the final of which is due on Monday. Once I have reviewed all estimates I will let you know my decision. Although Elm Tree does a great job with trimming trees and clean up afterwards, THEY ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HOLD OF OR TO GET A CALL BACK. IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET HOLD OF THEM. We don't understand why they keep sending us e-mails as they are obviously so busy they don't need any more business! They are getting a 2 for LACK OF COMMUNICATION OR DIFFICULT COMMUNICATION.
