Somewhere in the middle section of Missouri the rest areas take a filthier turn with people who don't look like road travelers hanging in the parking lot and staring. In the Jackson Mi area on an overnight drive there were men running into a wooded area. I decided to shave and entered the lobby as a man was standing there with three women as they all smiled and said hello. Ok, that'll be ok. Soon as I got to the sink and taking out my shaving things the man comes up to the sink next to me...."here we go", I thought. He says.."..say you see those mighty fine ladies with me.. I could let you have a party with any that you want". This stop has a playground, a place for the dogs, spotless restroom, even in late afternoon, a wall of vending machines and just a scenic respite area. PB4UGO.

I stopped in to the Heath Creek Rest Area yesterday on the way to the Twin Cities. This place has what you need: - Easy access from and back to I-35. - Clean Rest Rooms - Drinking Water and Vending Machines - Nice Park-Like Atmosphere with Picnic Tables and Pet Walking Space. I did have one interesting experience inside of my 10-15 minutes here. Another car pulled up and one of the passengers was just behind me on the walk to the facilities. All of a sudden, he started asking me what I thought of Biden and how he was a big Trump supporter. As this was no place or time for such a discussion, I waved him off (twice) by saying that I don't talk politics in public. This just goes to show you that you never know who you'll run into at a rest stop, and it's best to always be situationally aware.

I had no problem walking up to the building to use the women's washroom. The stall that I used was nicely maintained. No issues. Everything was clean. This rest stop has vending machines. If you need drinks or snacks, you're in luck. The selection is decent. The machines accept coins, cash, and credit cards. As I was walking back to my vehicle, a man was plowing the sidewalk. On this day, it would be the last time I saw anyone clearing snow at any rest stop north of St. Cloud. The snowstorm got worse as I cut through North Dakota. I had a great experience here. It was good to stretch here before driving through the worst part of the snowstorm. (16)

I don't expect much out of gas stations (I don't think many people do), so we were both kinda floored by how NICE the interior of this gas station was. Like practically upscale fancy (for a gas station), clean and well-lit, with a decent selection of REAL food (produce, milk, eggs, etc.) in addition to the typical junk fare. I was also impressed by the tap smoothie and protein shake dispensers alongside the coffee brews and soda fountain. Bakery items were actively being discounted when we arrived, and were extremely tempting flavors like pumpkin white chocolate chip. Perhaps needless to say, we walked out with more than hubbie's cup of coffee. X'D Making your shop look nice (while staying affordable) works y'all! The nightmare started at check-in. I always use the pre-check-in feature to get my mobile key and head straight to my room. When I arrived, the manager on duty actually tried to argue with me, claiming that using the mobile key process was "illegal." After that absurd power trip, they made me wait forever for a room. Despite my request for a high floor near the elevator, they stuck me on the first floor. Then came the key fiasco. The physical key didn't work. The mobile key didn't work. I hiked back to the desk, the manager made a new key, and--shocker--that one didn't work either. His excuse? He told me the mobile key takes "10 minutes" to activate. I stay at Marriotts constantly; that is a blatant lie and a pathetic attempt to cover for their broken system. The property itself is a total letdown.
