It's fully paved and has a few winding bridges, one that goes above a lake. You could easily spend several hours here because the park is so large! The people on the trail were really friendly. I loved seeing all the wildlife along the trail too. We spotted several caterpillars and saw ducks and different birds in the distance. The fall colors were very beautiful and the trail was wide and relatively empty for a Sunday mid-day. I absolutely loved it. Would definitely come here again in the future !

They also didn't have any restrooms available during my visit, (I think they were being remodeled) so there was a huge line for the porta potty on site. Not the most convenient thing so go to the restroom before you come here. The falls are beautiful, and there's a short hike down the stairs to get a view of the lower falls, but you have to crawl over a short rock wall to get closer to the falls. It's not a huge waterfall, but it's pretty. There's a short hiking trail along the stream that goes around the park. It's flat but I don't recommend it for wheelchair users. Maybe strollers can make it, but go at your own risk as I'm not sure how you could access the trail from the top. I'm sure there's a way, I just didn't explore the entire trail to find an accessible route and I had to take stairs to go down and back up.

Park had plenty of paid parking, even had a cafe and a restaurant. Bathrooms were plentiful and clean. A big turnaround for Uber drop offs and pick ups. Lots of lime bikes everywhere to rent one to ride around.

They have a safe and secure process in the morning for entering camp outside the facility. What really sets this apart is the variety of activities they have for kids of all ages. Never, ever, have my kids actually been exciting about going to "daycare" until we brought them here. The only disappointing feature is that they currently close in the winter. We will definitely bring them back once they reopen. So glad we found this place!

He couldn't sleep that night because he was too excited to get back to camp. Haha! Every single day he had things to share with us and he said he had the best day. He learned a lot of new things and had many options everyday of what he could do. We were in Mpls for only two weeks this summer and he was really sad when he was having his last day. Not what you'd expect from the name I know, but this is no ordinary park - it's better. From the moment I walked in I was struck by the natural beauty of the park. If you love the outdoors this is the place for you with plenty of hiking and exploring to be had. The staff do a great job of keeping the park clean and up to date. One of the highlights of my visit was the bike trail. I brought my bike and it was a great decision. The trail is well maintained and has great views of the surrounding area. Plus the park is close to several other trails so it's a great place to start a longer ride. I'm already planning on coming back to use this park as my starting point for future bike adventures. Overall I highly recommend Fort Snelling State Park to anyone looking for a beautiful outdoor experience. Whether you're a seasoned hiker, casual biker or just someone who loves the great outdoors this park has something for everyone. We visited in a small travel trailer and had one of the pull thru sites, #52. It seemed to be one of the few with no shade and will request a different site next week when we return. However, it's convenient to everything and not a bad site, just others we like better after seeing the layout. They deliver your firewood to your site for you. A small bundle at the store is $7 or you can upgrade to $10 for twice as much and it's delivered right to your site. We stayed 2 nights while visiting relatives in the area and my boys (twins age 11) loved it! The mini golf ($2/player) is clean and well maintained, though the cups are higher than the greens on a few holes leaving us frustrated on a few shots.. shuffleboard was a hit (free) and the game room with air hockey ($.75/game) was where they spent most of their time. The game goes until someone scores 7 points. The other games were $.50 each. The pool was clean and had many chairs, though on the weekend it had more people than we wanted to hang with so we didn't do the pool. Wifi is available but very slow. I don't agree that it's not a destination spot as we've been to many campgrounds that definitely are NOT.. this KOA has the nicest and caring group of people working there as well as immaculate grounds, that I would recommend it highly. Obviously there are a multitude of things to do in the area and this is a great base camp for that. My only issue with all KOA's in general is that my boys cannot pop up a tent outside our tiny trailer with plenty of space and grass. That is a KOA rule so I can't pick on this place too bad about it. We are returning again next week for 3 nights and my boys are excited to stay again

There are probably more tables than parking spaces. Another regional park that provides all the amenities expected including huge sun umbrellas along the sandy beach. More than one restroom and changing facility, grilling areas kids playground. Of course I found some walking paths which is about all I care to use. No problems if you don't like difficult trails, most are paved and the unpaved are still easy. Take your hike and head back to the table.

Sauna (pop up) on Thursdays and Sundays...this was the jump start I needed to just buy a pass. I've gone to the park now 4x's in over 2 weeks. I did the sauna once, took my kiddo to the beautiful brand new huge playground twice and then did a little hike solo. The park is huge. There are lots of spots to camp, they have their own beach (in the summer), beautiful lakes, lots of hiking trails, etc. I look forward to coming back not only to this park but others that are part of the pass. No time like the present to get outdoors and explore!
