I had no problem walking up to the building to use the women's washroom. The stall that I used was nicely maintained. No issues. Everything was clean. This rest stop has vending machines. If you need drinks or snacks, you're in luck. The selection is decent. The machines accept coins, cash, and credit cards. As I was walking back to my vehicle, a man was plowing the sidewalk. On this day, it would be the last time I saw anyone clearing snow at any rest stop north of St. Cloud. The snowstorm got worse as I cut through North Dakota. I had a great experience here. I went with stretching here, which is in Maple Grove. I am glad that I did. There were lots of parking spots in front of the rest area. I pulled into a spot and walked into the building. The women's washroom was clean. I realized that I had been here eons ago. It looked and felt the same. There were a few maps for me to look at. I liked the scenic byways map better than the you-are-here one. What stands out about this rest stop are the vending machines. There were five of them. You could get everything from snacks, to hot and cold beverages. I liked the variety. The hot beverages one was cool. It had hot chocolate. I wasn't in the mood for a hot drink, but I'd like to try it someday and see if it's any good. This rest stop has picnic tables and lots of trees. It would be the perfect spot to have a brief picnic in the summertime. If you've got a pet with you, it would be the perfect place for your furry family member to go for a walk or stretch. I walked up and entered two sets of doors. I saw a yellow sign posted up saying that the women's washroom was being cleaned. My heart sank. My poor bladder! Luckily, the man who had just put up that sign looked at me. "I'll wait for you. Go ahead!" he said with the most cheerful smile. "Thanks!" I said. The washroom stall that I used was clean. There was lots of liquid soap next to the sink that I was using. My bladder and I were happy. I ducked under the yellow sign to leave. I thanked the man. He wished me a happy Christmas. I did the same. Every rest stop in Minnesota has a brief customer satisfaction survey. You can text, call, surf, or scan the QR code. I like the entire setup. We talked about technology. It's supposed to make things easier, but sometimes it doesn't. It was nice chatting with a staffer at this rest area. Normally, I just drop by and leave a rest area, without any human interaction. Like practically upscale fancy (for a gas station), clean and well-lit, with a decent selection of REAL food (produce, milk, eggs, etc.) in addition to the typical junk fare. I was also impressed by the tap smoothie and protein shake dispensers alongside the coffee brews and soda fountain. Bakery items were actively being discounted when we arrived, and were extremely tempting flavors like pumpkin white chocolate chip. Perhaps needless to say, we walked out with more than hubbie's cup of coffee. X'D Making your shop look nice (while staying affordable) works y'all! Honestly this trend of gas stations that TRY is refreshing; it doesn't have to feel like you're slumming it or one step above peeing on the side of the road. Next time I need a quick something, I may in fact prioritize Kwik Trip over say Holiday or Speedway. Also the employees working here were friendly and efficient. So even the help really seemed a step above the rest when it comes to gas stations. My kudos to them!

My husband said he saw about five in the bathroom which I never noticed. The amount of ants that came out was beyond disgusting. We stayed in room 251 and you can see in the video how bad it really was. I understand it's a cheap hotel and a place to just sleep but this was unbelievable. I'm not sure if I want to give the place another try. We use to always stay here but quiet when they were asking so much for a deposit which you can see that review in the pictures below. We decided to give it a try again when they told use diamond members don't pay a deposit but now I'm not sure we will be going back after this incident.

I decided to take a break as I made my way to Winnipeg. I had no problem pulling into a parking spot. I used the women's washroom. There was a strong bleach smell. This rest stop is maintained extremely well. I liked learning about the Red River ox cart trails. It's nice when you can do a self-guided tour while you take a breather from driving. This rest area was a bit quirky when it came to the vending machines. If you are looking for a snack, the vending machine is inside the building. If you feel like a cold drink, it's located outside. I'm wondering if this outdoor machine works when it's freezing outside during a normal winter day. This year hasn't been normal weather-wise, so this beverage machine seemed to be okay when I was there. If you have a pet, there is an area for pets to stretch and play. It was a colder day when I was here. The trees and snow made this outdoor area picturesque. I'm sure that it's gorgeous during the summer. There was a picnic area that would be perfect to relax and enjoy lunch outside. I like that Minnesota rest stops invite you to submit feedback. The state has decent, nicely maintained rest stops. The rest area has a long sweeping turn which is something I appreciate as it truly helps to slow down the cars as they come off the highway at 75 mph. There is a "front" truck parking area and the car parking in the back is accessible for trucks as well. So keep an eye out for larger vehicles coming through and give them plenty of space.
