5 stars at a Best Western you say? You betcha! Is it a 5…read morestar hotel? No. Did they still earn a 5 star review for expectations vs reality. Absolutely. On entry, you're welcomed by a fireplace & comfy seating area, as well as friendly desk staff. Check-in was easy & we were given water & snacks, the run down on everything offered & they even offered a wake up call (didn't know that was still done). The decor is fresh and eye-pleasing. There were no odd odors & the room was clean. The dreaded time to pop food/drinks into the never quite cold, might get food poisoning fridge was now here... but, wait, what's this... a COLD fridge with a freezer. Booyah! Next is the challenge of sleeping, while the beds are usually comfy enough, this chain notoriously has no sound proofing & we wake regularly to doos slamming, people taking in the halls & the upstairs room where there always seems to be some sort of Olympic tumbling practice between 1-4am. In we go - comfy bed, check. Asleep within minutes, check. Wake up to noise, yup... our alarm... wait, what?! We slept through the night. No noise, no crazy temp swings... win! Down to breakfast- we usually skip this, but today we needed to get on the road fast. Assuming d/t covid precautions, breakfast is served by staff - today was fried eggs with choice of bread, along with standard continental selection. They aren't stingy &, while not cooked to order, the eggs are real eggs. Think a visit to grandma's house... they were pretty sure we needed more food & pushed, but in a friendly way. "You only had one egg, they aren't very big. You want another? Maybe some cereal? At least take a muffin!" We loved this gal! To the room for coffee thanks to the cold fridge, my milk was still safe for human consumption & the coffee offered in room was also real & there was plenty of it. Yes, drinkable hotel coffee. An actual cold fridge in a clean room with a comfy bed, accurate climate control, sound-proofing & they have great staff - bonus for a fast breakfast & coffee - meaning we were on the road straight away & good to go tol lunch. Yeah, this one is a win.

The Grand Stay is a smallish midwestern chain and there happened to be on in town so I grabbed a room for a few nights Small but nice lobby greets you as you walk in and the attentive fellow behind the desk got me squared away with a room in short order. I was up on the third floor so hopped the elevators and headed up. Elevator arrived and operated in the normal amount of time - so all good. Room was nicely appointed and clean. Bathroom was good sized, well lit and functional. Hot water was hot. There is a large indoor pool available, but I did not have the time to do anything there. They offer a free breakfast in the morning but to be honest, it was very basic. Coffee was decent however. The building is situated on the edge of a strip mall and there is an Italian sports bar there if you feel the need to grab something to eat and watch the game. Parking lot was a bit small and cramped, but got the job done. Overall a solid 3-star hotel and I would stay here again if in the area.

We come here a few times a year and have had birthday parties for our daughters there. It's priced fairly as well! We spent nearly 6 weeks there with our 3 daughters, dog and cat as we waited for our new home to be finished. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We felt like we were family by the time we left! They provide a bigger than normal continental breakfast with waffles, variety of donuts and mini muffins along with a hot meal option from eggs to bacon and sausage to biscuits and gravy. Definitely nice to have some options. The cleaning staff are very nice and always willing to help! Definitely recommend this hotel if you have to stay for an extended period of time or just a night!! Thanks for a great experience!

They had complimentary cookies and coffee in the lobby and free hot breakfast in the morning (make your own waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage as well as muffins, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc). The pool and hot tub were open late and was open for adults only from 10pm to 12am! Our standard king room had a king bed, full size and mini fridge, microwave, chair and desk. There was plenty of free parking spots available in the lot and many nearby businesses. I really liked the ability to text for a very easy checkout process.

I guess because there was a mini fridge and microwave in a cabinet. When I saw only 6 to 7 hangers in the cutout closet, I called the front desk to request a few more and I was abruptly told "no"! On Sunday night, after being gone all day and evening, we came back to a room that hadn't been touched by housekeeping. Wet towels were still on the floor (there are no towel racks in the mini bathroom with one sink), the waste baskets were full and the bed was unmade. I went to the front desk to complain and the night manager looked on the schedule and said our room was not on the housekeeping schedule. She suggested we talk to the manager, Carrie, in the morning. When we spoke to Carrie, she informed us they only clean the rooms every 3 days! Not only that, she blamed us for not knowing because we booked through a "third party" like Expedia and if we booked directly with them, they they would've informed us of their housekeeping policy. She was extremely arrogant and rude. I was furious and ready to change hotels, but decided to stay when she agreed our room would be cleaned every day. The next night we came back to our room to find that our hotel key cards didn't work, so we were locked out. There was some mixup in their records and they gave us a new key card. I would not recommend this hotel. Going back to housekeeping, if they were trying to conserve on water (which they never used as an excuse), I could understand not washing the sheets every day unless requested and maybe reusing the towels if there was a towel rack to hang them on. BUT, they could still have housekeeping come in and make the bed, empty wastebaskets, and clean the bathroom. And, upon check in, they should inform you of their no-cleaning policy.

We got vouchers for free meals for kids first morning we had the Eggs Benedict with their breakfast potatoes which were delicious and they gave me extra hollandaise sauce but it wasn't needed. We ordered pizza from the pub n grub in the water park it was huge and very good, only took 20 minutes too. They have a lot on their food menu in park including adult beverages. The water parkway great, surprised with all the bad reviews, there was always warm towels from the drier for use. Hot tub was huge and plenty of tables and floats for going down the slide and lazey river. Lifeguards seemed attentive and reasonable only blew their whistles when they had to. Water was perfect temperature other parks we have been to it was too cold. No complaints at all with anything. Everyone we dealt with was very kind and helpful, they even offer underground heated parking which was great since we were in the middle of a snow storm. Will for sure go back! only complaint was part of the time there was only 1 working elevator, and our couch could use replacing in the room. Everything A+

We had a very expensive suite, and I did not get my money's worth. The room was dark, fridge was not clean, and I found girls' swim bottoms (2 pair) in one drawer in a dresser and food in the nightstand. Obviously, room had not been properly cleaned. Another recent stay brought constant noise all through the night from the people above us; I called the front desk a few times and nothing was done. Will not stay at the hotel again; water park, probably - hotel, no.
