He was always able to answer any crazy questions we had. Gave us ideas about how things should go. And was incredibly easy to work with. It was the perfect setting, we were able to have our ceremony outside with the beautiful fall leaves as our backdrop, the cocktail hour was on there amazing deck overlooking the scenic golf course. And the reception was in a beautiful room just off of the deck allowing easy access to fresh air. They have bar service and delicious food choices. The whole thing was way easier then I ever imagined.

Abby worked with us through the entire process, giving us suggestions for everything we didn't know about. She is so knowledgeable about everything we could have possibly needed. When we would come to her with a crazy idea we had, instead of telling us all the reasons why it couldn't happen, she talked about the different ways we could accomplish it! In the time leading up to the wedding, Abby was constantly checking in with us making sure we had everything we needed for our special day. When the wedding day came, everything was perfect. Everything was set up exactly how Abby and I had discussed. We had a brunch themed wedding and the food was absolutely delicious! The waitstaff and bartenders were exceptional. They anticipated the needs we were having but were never in the way. The weather was gorgeous! Abby suggested opening a door to the deck area so guests could be outside and inside. It was one of the best decisions we made for the night. Our guests were able to enjoy the first 72-degree spring day we were having in Minnesota with the beautiful views of the golf course in the background. The whole reception went off without a hitch! Our wedding day was perfect. My husband and I stopped looking at other venues options the second we found Burl Oaks. If you are looking for a place to have your wedding or event, stop. You've found it! I would highly recommend Burl Oaks to all my friends and family!

Windsong Farm Golf Club - The long prairie grass makes for a lovely setting but a tough shot!

We knew that the layout would prove to be challenging, so we split into two-man scramble teams to try to keep things moving. It had rained the prior evening, so carts were not allowed even though the course appeared to have drained quite well. The upside is that pulling our bags behind us gave us a modicum of warmth on a borderline playing day. As it should be for a 5-star review, I encountered no significant issues -- frustrating golf challenges certainly, but no issues that dampened my experience (besides the gusting wind on the long Par 3 16th over water, but what a great challenge!). First of all, there are a lot of bunkers on this course (over 70 from what I could count on Google Maps). Most of these are deep-sided with long grass curling around the edges. Drive your ball into one of the fairway bunkers and you'll likely have to come out sideways. The sand is very fine, and even though it was a bit wet during our round, it was very consistent and a lot easier to extricate oneself than the hardpan on some of the munis in the area (don't ask why we were hitting from the sand when we were playing a 2-man scramble!). Secondly, the long prairie grass that lines most fairways was turning stunning shades of tan, purple and red. Really pretty and relaxing as long as you didn't hit into it (in which case don't even try to find your ball). Thirdly, despite the lack of trees and limited over-water carries, you'd better hit a long straight ball if you hope to even bogey some of the longer par 4's. As a bogey golfer, I felt very good if I could scramble to bogey from the Sand tees, and if I had been playing my own ball those would have been the exception scores. Outside of the 16th, Par 3 holes were fairly easy. I actually played the long Par 5's quite well for some reason, but there is a lot of trouble to be found. We had a great outing and really appreciated the opportunity. Interaction with course staff was limited to a short conversation in the small-ish but nicely appointed Pro Shop. Members will have to provide reviews on other aspects of the club, but I would certainly consider joining if I played enough golf in retirement to justify membership. So, how did we score you ask? 5-over on the Front and 6-over on the Back as the wind picked up and our senior bodies tired. Not too bad for not knowing the course or having any sort of rangefinder. If there's a next time I will play my own ball to see how I do!

In September of 21, we locked in our date and paid a $5,500 deposit for a late November holiday party. Two days prior to the party. the event was canceled due to the governor's mandate. We told them to just hang on to the deposit and we selected a date for 2021 (December 4). Early in September we reached out to the club to see how many we were allowed to have given the room size and any restrictions that may be in place. At that time we were told that the club would be undergoing renovations to the ball rooms during the time of our part so they would not be able to conduct our event. Rather than block out a period and NOT take reservations during that period, they made a decision to just cancel existing reservations. It seems that since Club Corp took them over they really are not a client/guest focused venue. This left me scrambling to find another venue with very short notice for the time of year. Needless to say I was extremely disgusted with the turn of events and I told them to return my deposit money and to cancel my membership since if they are only too happy to leave my high and dry I have no intention of doing further business with them. This next part shows how patheticly arrogant they have become: They told me that I can't cancel my membership until April because that is when my membership agreement expires. They are of they opinion that I have to abide by my agreement with them but they do not have to abide by their agreement with me. The best they would let me do was downgrade my membership to a dinner only membership. Pretty isulting since I will never step foot in the place again. I am sure they are aware of the chaos they have created for me with very little notice for a large event. The club has ownership and management that clearly does not care.
