Cost over $80 before tip just the two of us, and we only had waters. Our waiter really only seemed interested in our table when we flagged him down to pay. I decided to take my husband on a date without the kids since we were traveling to Nashville. I picked this place because of the menu. It was much better than expected. The pork chop was divine, the Brussels sprouts were amazing even for my husband who does not normally eat them. I loved the shrimp and grits and don't get me started on dessert!! Personally, I never would've ordered roasted cauliflower, but the waitress recommended it and none of us could stop eating it. The pickled deviled eggs and really good. For the entree, I had the pork chops with some sort of bourbon soaked peaches on top, this was a dish to write home about. I originally saw Ellington's on Instagram and wanted to give it a try, so my roommate and I stopped by last night to check it out! There weren't a lot of people there, but it was later in the evening on a Tuesday. We came for a drink on the patio, so we sat out there and enjoyed views of the city and their lovely atmosphere! We weren't super hungry, so we split a burger and it was so delicious and the ingredients were so fresh! Best burger either of us have had in a long time. I'd love to come back sometime for dinner to enjoy the other menu offerings. Overall, I think Ellington's is on the right track! I could definitely see this becoming a hot spot with their great food, atmosphere and views. read more

The restaurant is on the 4th floor of the Fairlane Hotel- but easy to access. The staff are excellent; very welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is great and the view of the outside seating is neat. The decor is very modern and classy. A new establishment, so all furniture is very nice and comfortable. We started our meal with a Ellington salad and the lettuce and dressing was very fresh and tasteful. The portion was large enough to share. My wife had the ribeye, which was prepared perfectly- her side was the fingerling potatoes ( they were a little bland). I had the chef's special of seared halibut with roasted asparagus and carrots with a corn purée which was outstanding. This is a must restaurant if you enjoy trying new places. It's a gem and should find its place in the explosive Nashville food scene. read more

Nashville has grown so much and i never thought i would be going to so many hotel restaurants. But i had to try this one since I'm all about trying the new and upcoming spots. Right in the mids of downtown nashville and they offer complimentary valet which is nice. As you enter the hotel everyone is so nice and helpful. The doorman walked us right to the elevator and led us to the restaurant on the 4th floor. Once we entered the restaurant we was greeted by the hostess and asked to be seated out in the patio. It was a beautiful night to sit outside and enjoy the view and our food and drinks. Our hostess she basically turned into our waitress and she was very attentive. She gave us some recommendations as well. I wasn't too hungry at the moment and i just went with a sig cocktail and a dozen raw oysters to share. I wasn't impressed with Ellington's for the price. The restaurant has a cool vibe with a short elevator ride to the entrance and an 30's cocktail bar feel. My experience sitting at the bar was a little uncomfortable as the bartenders were talking about each other and one of the bartenders was referring to a customer as "sweetie" which she didn't appear to enjoy. The food wasn't bad but was certainly overpriced. The wedge salad was fairly good (and seems to be a crowd favorite) but the side roasted mushrooms were less than desirable. As with any indoor dining experience these days, we read up on Ellington's COVID policies and felt safe to eat here. We were pleased that upon arrival they took our temps and staff had masks on. However, they gave us old school leather menus!! The drinks menu was on a single use paper but none of us felt comfortable touching this binder - who knows when it was wiped last. There was no QR code to scan and check out the menu either...we were very put off by this. The service was also fairly slow. The staff were sweet and took the proper precautions when removing plates from the table. We honestly won't visit Ellington's again until the pandemic is over. read more

As a multi-decade Nashvillian and downtown resident, I really hesitate to review this place, lest it be overrun by the hordes of woo-girls (h/t Stephen Hale) and bachelor bros who currently occupy our fair city like Vichy Paris. But the truth is that this place is amazing; and I can only write the truth. The food -- cheese curds, a cauliflower dish that's like eating an effing steak, a watermelon-feta dish that's as light and delicious as a Mykonos sky (okay, honestly, I don't know what that is), and really amazing meats, not least of which being the pork chop and shrimp and grits, are just amazing. The beverages are expertly mixed and delivered with love by Neal, Chris, McKenna and Kelly. There's an ample, tasteful booze selection and creative cocktails served in gorgeous, classic glasses. And here's the best part: you can dine outside, above the city but totally within it, on the terrace. Great servers like Abbey ensure large parties and small feel like they're taken care of, even when secluded on the terrace. The aesthetic of getting here is one of my favorite parts. You enter through a gorgeously decorated lobby and head up to the fourth floor, which is reminiscent of a private, cosmopolitan club in 1970s Chicago. They've done good things here. It would be a shame if only the people staying in this hotel enjoy it. So come. Drink. Eat. Enjoy. Unless you're going to want them to play Wagon Wheel. Unless it's Bob Dylan's version. read more

It is, as some have said, somewhat retro, but very classy. We made a reservation and the hostess was very pleasant both on the phone and in-person. I had been here before for cocktails during Covid and it was great. Sadly over Easter weekend I took my parents and we had a terrible experience. Our reservation was at 7:30pm and we didn't get served our dinner until after 9:30pm. The food was not prepared well at all, we didn't end up even eating most of it. There was obviously something going wrong in the kitchen because no one in the entire restaurant had food from 8-9:30pm and there was no explanation given to anyone. I understand if things happen or if you have a staffing issue or something, but at least manage customer expectations when they do. A little heads up would have been nice because we were not planning on that being our only activity of the night and then not even being able to eat the food was a real disappointment. read more

This is the Fairlane Hotel restaurant, and I have to say first and foremost - this is in my opinion the absolute best place to stay in Nashville. Good area, walking distance to Broadway and the Bridgestone, gorgeous hotel with fantastic service. I could go on and on, but this is the restaurant review so I'll restrain myself until I get to the hotel review. We had 6 pm reservations, but got into Nashville early and were starving, so we took a chance and went down around 5. They were very kind about accommodating us early and we chose to sit on the terrace which is really awesome and I highly recommend it. The service outside was perfect as well, which sometimes isn't the case at all restaurants. We had the highly recommended cauliflower appetizer and we all drooled over it. Even one of our party who is definitely not a cauliflower fan devoured it. It's a must try. We also had the pickled deviled eggs - loooooooved them. We had wedge salads, and these are huge so good to share. They were awesome. I had salmon, one person had the pork chops with peaches, another the roast chicken, and another the filet. Everything was absolutely perfect. We also got the Brussels sprouts which were to die for. Craft cocktails, local beers, and wine was all on point. We are coming back in April, and we will definitely be back to the Fairlane and Ellington's. This was spot on and no one had a single complaint. Go here!!! You'll be happy you tried it. read more

SLOW SERVICE. We were waiting the whole time: waiting for drinks, waiting to order, waiting for our food to arrive, waiting for the server to return with our check... There were only a couple other tables besides our party of 6, so it didn't seem busy. Then we got our car back and realized a bunch of items were stolen while we were dining. The valet company will not take any accountability despite our car being left unlocked, and the hotel staff was less than accommodating while we spent an hour waiting for the police to arrive. Overall, definitely not worth the hassle. I would have much rather picked a different restaurant downtown that actually cares about the security of your vehicle while you're dining and can complete the dining experience in less than 3 hours. read more

Food was one of the worst i've had in a long time. For being a little pricey and downtown you would expect more. Burgers crumbled as soon as you picked them up, over cooked, and stale bread as well. Server didn't understand that a burger should not have to be eaten with a fork.. shrimp and salad were nothing special. Salad was actually overly salty. This was a pleasant surprise in the hub of new trendy hotels in downtown Nashville. I instantly loved the hotel when we entered, the cool midcentury vibe is a welcome reprieve from the industrial and often cold decor of new Nashville. The lobby is comfortable and welcoming. We went into the beautiful elevator and took it to the restaurant floor. Upon stepping off the elevator, we were welcomed by a bar I felt belonged in an episode of mad men. It was awesome! The bartenders were friendly and helpful. The environment was perfect for sitting back and enjoying a drink. It felt like we took a step back in time. The drinks were wonderful! My friend ordered the shrimp appetizer which he said was fantastic. They have a beautiful outdoor area, which I would love to return to take advantage of. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a unique place to have a drink or enjoy a meal. I look forward to returning myself soon to eat! read more

This restaurant is way over hyped! We decided to go for Mother's Day brunch where they had a set menu. This menu did not coordinate together at all. Ended up with french onion soup, frittata, and red velvet ice cream. Pretty strange combo if you ask me. We ended up waiting an hour and 15 minutes for our main course bc of how bad the service was. When we finally got the bill, it was $175 for 4 people. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. We left hungrier than we arrived and ended up having to stop at a drive thru. Definitely a disappointing Mother's Day for my mom. :( read more

My sons and I spent New Years Eve in Nashville and I wanted to enjoy an epic steak dinner with them. I found Ellington's online and liked it immediately. I wasn't aware of the streamlined holiday, 4 course dinner menu and almost cancelled the reservation thinking it wouldn't be filling enough. I was wrong entirely and am so glad I didn't cancel. We arrived and were kindly ushered to the elevator as the restaurant is on the 4th floor. The greeting from the hostess was warm and genuine and that really sets the tone of the evening as far as I'm concerned. The restaurant is nicely appointed and we were seated at a very nice location. Our server Kelley was fabulous and her smile was icing on the cake. She was super attentive and had a great personality. Thank you Kelley. The food was amazing and more than plentiful. We started with cheese curds and meatballs. Do yourself a favor and get the cheese curds. The taste and texture was sheer bliss. The Bibb salads we choose were very fresh and layered with great alternating tastes and textures...crisp lettuce, fresh berries, smooth pecorino cheese and pistachio chips. A light Vinaigrette drizzle ties it lol together. We all three had the Ribeye steaks. I will just say it was the best prepared cut of beef I have ever had. The portion was more than generous. The last course was a piece of chocolate cake that was so generous, my adults sons couldn't finish it. Age and experience ruled the day and I left no trace of my slice. We were finished with the meal but in no way made to feel that we had to be on our way. As my sons are stationed at Fort Campbell, I know I will be back to visit. Loved this place. Was in Nashville for a couple of days and decided to go to this place off of yelp. We ordered a few drinks - all of which were good. Started off with the cauliflower which was really good. I had the squid ink pasta which was pretty good. But the star of the show were the lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly!! We had the upside down cake for dessert and it was phenomenal! Will definitely be back whenever we come back! Yikes was this a wolf wrapped in an eye wateringly expensive Gucci cocktail dress. First impression of this restaurant was impeccable in terms of decor and ambiance because you really feel like you're walking into a James Bond movie due to slick mid-century modern furniture, light fixtures, and warm/alluring colors palette: 5 starts all around for design alone. Then comes service. Host, manager, and waitor all had joyful tones when introducing themselves and taking our order. Very polite individuals. Fall From Grace- When the waitor failed to mention any dinner specials and went right on to drink offerings the feeling of ' red flag' immediately set in. The drinks were fantastic- on menu and off menu items used top self liquor to make you less sober to soften the blow of potion size and lack luster flavor of food. What they offered as chicken and dumplings had a base comparable to what lies at the bottom of an off brand Campbell's chicken noodle soup can. The 'dumplings' were labeled as 'gnocchi'... they were neither. what I saw were seemingly over soaked grains of rice not large enough for a small child to snack on. The bone-in chicken thigh was flavorless. No other words. My partner ordered their charcuterie board as an appetizer and then Caesar salad as entree. The cheese meat and fruit pairings are the same restaurant to restaurant thus alone are not impressive. When ordering the waitor made sure to mention the Caesar was an entree and was served an side salad portion. No presentation at all. No anchovy flavor to dressing, large lumps of cheese at bottom of bowl, and no croutons when the menu listed it as an included item. After placing the food our waiters attitude seemed to change to one of being stand offish and didn't take time to refill our water of ask if we wanted another drink. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of a hotel and will lure you with its detailed and pleasantly warming interior only to swiftly open the trap door labeled "sucker". read more
