I just returned from a wonderful Lunch at Elixir where I met up with my dear and longtime friend, Patti A. This is actually my second time at Elixir as I was here back in February with a friend of mine who graduated with me from EHS (class of 1979 LOL Where did the time go??!) Because Diane N. and I had such a nice time when we had lunch here I suggested it to Patti who was not familiar with the place yet. Being fans of Tex Mex and a wide variety of food types I knew she would love Elixir. First, I must say they did a nice job with the renovation. The place has a clean, modern feel. They have some great Lunch Specials and the prices are just unbelievably reasonable. Patti and i split the Home Made Guacamolli (sp??) and each had a Lunch Special. The Guac was so good as were the chips. We each enjoyed our lunch and took home a Doggie Bag for later. Each of us had an Iced Tea. When the bill arrived we were so happy to see it was just $20.00. Manny the owner is very personable going to each table several times to make sure all is on point. Jenna our Server was very sweet.We learned that there are Wine and Cheese Pairings and other events coming up. All great things!--Patti said she could not wait to return with Rich. I said that I would not be surprised if they returned in the next week. Patti responded with something like "I was thinking this weekend!!" This place is a neighborhood Hot Spot. Went with my parents at the recommendation of their cardiologist. He must have known the menu contained healthy, yet delicious Tex-mex selections. We ordered the guacamole appetizer which was freshly made and ripe with seasonings. They supplemented with an extra bowl of chips to match the massive portion! So...very mixed experience here. We arrived around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night, and the dining area was completely dead, with maybe about 10-15 or so people at the bar. This was surprising to us, as yelp reviews make this place appear to be a trendy, popular bar. The theme overall seems to be a little confused. Maybe its more evident at the bar area, but the dining area feels like a diner with techno-lighting and beige/navy walls, which gives it kindof a home-y feel. I will say, it was clean, and well-lit. Our waitress had a body-odor issue, which was completely off-putting and gross. She seemed to be rushing us, asking us what we wanted to drink before we even sat down. I don't know if they were just expecting bar patrons at that point and they wanted to clean up our table, but it was a little awkward, especially because we were practically the only ones there! The food was pretty good though - we got the sampler (which was tasty) and all of the meat on both mine and my partner's dish was cooked very well. Generally, we probably won't be back. For the food alone, we would consider it, but the overall experience wasn't worth a second visit. read more

I live just minutes from this place and i'm so happy that they opened. The staff is awesome, every time I go we have nothing but great things to say. Their menu is really affordable but their servings are plentiful. Fun place to go to to grab a bite and a drink with friends or have a good dinner. Definitely recommend. Excellent Tex-Mex spot! Was a bit confused when I first walked in as the ambiance is very different from any other Tex-Mex place ive ever been too but don't let it fool you! I've been there twice and both times that service has been great! The staff is attentive and prompt. I tried the loaded nachos with no meat (I'm vegetarian)! Yum!!!!! As for my meal Ive tried the vegetarian tostadas and the bean burrito - both full of flavors and delicious! My friends all tried different dishes and no one complained! To finish we tried a chocolate cake which was perfection! If you are a chocolate lover do not miss out on the molten lava cake!!!! I came in with so much hope..Tex Mex is my food of choice! Went on a Thursday evening (around 6pm) with my husband. Parking lot is TINY and was already full when we arrived. When we went in the place wasn't very full and most of the activity was at the bar. Although there is a hostess station no one was there. The waiter finally saw us and sat us in the dining section. He was pretty attentive during the rest of the evening which was the only redeeming factor of this experiencing. My beer came in a warm glass which is not what I expect at a bar and grill. We ordered the sampler for an appetizer. The chicken taquitos were great, the chips were quality and delicious, the pork bites were weird although tasty, the guacamole tasted store bought, and the queso was chalky. We should have ended there. My husband got the Chorizo Burger and I ordered the Goat Cheese Salad for our entree. The burger nearly made my husband gag, and let me tell you he will eat almost anything. Without the chipotle mayo I don't know if he would have even taken another bite! It wasn't actually a burger but a (gross) piece of chorizo cut in half and placed on a bun. I never knew that there could be a flavorless chorizo until this experience... Almost half the "burger" was left on the plate. The presentation of the salad was very appealing. There were plenty of mounds of goat cheese in the salad (10points) and the baby greens were fresh. The roasted peppers clearly came directly from the fridge and were very cold, there were TONS of mushrooms which I ended up taking out because they comprised the majority of the salad, the vinaigrette was painfully acidic and so strong in smell it reached my husband across the table. The roasted corn was the best addition and the hardest to find :( All in all I don't feel I would return or even suggest this place to anyone. Our meal was about $50 with tip and wasn't worth half of that. You're better off driving down Rt. 1 South and going to On the Border to experience Tex Mex. read more
