I've been going to gyms for roughly 68 years (when I was 8 years old I would go with my dad to the…read moreLA, downtown YMCA). Over the years, I've been to numerous gyms. This one is by far the best. It's well maintained and VERY clean; both out on the floor and in the locker room. The other members are well educated, friendly, and courteous when lifting weights/doing cardio's. Rarely do you hear grunts, groans and dropping weights. The front counter staff are friendly; both coming and going. The trainers are professional and know what they're doing. I like this facility. How often do I go; 7/7 (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas)

I've been an Equinox member since 2018 and felt it was a a wonderful community until Equinox made a…read morehuge mistake letting their best cycling instructor Zach go. His cycling classes were a major reason I stayed: he didn't just lead spin--he coached cycling, using watts, cadence, training zones and VO max efforts to create challenging, purposeful workouts while making members feel supported and part of a community. He also held himself accountable by doing the workouts alongside us, inspiring everyone with his own training, dedication, and competition experience. Many members considered him a friend because he genuinely cared about and helped build a community around his classes. It's unfortunate that management could let the voices of a few have such a significant impact on the community and an instructor who positively affected so many others. The replacement classes have made the difference clear--it feels more like aerobics on a bike than serious cycling training. Equinox has lost an exceptional instructor and may lose members who trained around his classes. I sincerely hope management brings Zach back. For now, I can no longer recommend La Costa as a place that genuinely cares about its community.

I love both practicing and teaching yoga and dance. I am also a long time friend of Nick. We…read morepracticed and trained in various styles of yoga over for a couple weeks while I was visiting California. Nicks new home studio surrounded by his fruit gardens and cactus farm is clean and inviting, and we enjoyed sunny yoga practice by the pool whenever weather allowed. I joined a couple of his yoga 23 small group sessions on Saturday mornings. I have never tried a dynamic movement style of yoga and really enjoyed this challenging practice. We also worked individually in private sessions throughout the week. I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years and became a yoga teacher three years ago. I have worked with instructors from various backgrounds and teaching styles, and learned more about how to adjust and correct my posture in poses. Nick could quickly and easily identify both my problem areas and strengths, and gave me customized training, poses, and variations to improve and expand my practice. We also began working on inversions and aerial yoga. Nick was patient and encouraging, and helped me begin working in these areas which I have been afraid to try for years. He gave me detailed instructions to be able to succeed as a beginner, and made me feel super safe in these new poses. Nick was extremely professional and respectful throughout our training. Also as a yoga instructor myself, I appreciated his ability to both efficiently run short and group sessions and go as in-depth as I wanted into the physiology and philosophy behind the practice.

He was able to teach me ways that can help me get better in shape without putting any strain on my knee. He was also able to teach me some strength training to help me with strengthening my body to hopefully prevent injuries from happening so easily in the future. I definitely highly recommend him for any physical needs you have as he's very knowledgeable, patient, and good at what he does.
