I moved to Sacramento a few years ago, but when I heard it was closing down, I had to give my own kid's their very own Sam's memories. Thank you Sam's, you'll always be my #1 hot dog spot.

They also offer shakes, but I only tried the hotdogs. Chili Cheese Dog (4 Stars) with onions and mustard. The Chili was mostly beans, but better than Caspers. You can tell they use beef, but it should be a lot more. The bun and dog are same as Caspers. The cheese is fresh grated cheddar cheese, better than Caspers. Polish Dog (4.5 Stars) with everything, which is the same as Caspers mustard, sliced onion, sliced tomatoes, sweet relish. The Polish is not Caspers Polish. They use a good quality Polish sausage, not sure what brand but something like Saag (Not a hotdog style Polish like Miller's). I view the Top Dog Polish (Berkeley) is still better, 5 Stars, so took off .5 Star. You can't beat the flat iron grill and French roll, to steamed and hotdog bun. Until next time... Next time try: Banana milkshake Polish with kraut, onion tomato, mustard Hot link

Caspers Hot Dogs is now Corkys! Same building, and from what I understand, new ownership. With a…read morefew new spots in the Richmond area, we decided to take a trip through Richmond to see what's new and changing. Corky's remains just as delicious in my opinion as Caspers. Super old-school, nostalgic dog house still featuring all the Caspers' classics. We ordered the cheese dog because I feel like that's a must. The cheese comes grated and cold, and is just the most perfect topping. The Corky's "with everything" basically means tomatoes and onions (you can get the onions sliced or diced), mustard and relish. I did the ketchup instead of the freshly-sliced tomatoes. We also tried the house-made chili topped with cheese (comes with white crackers). So comforting, and surprised I've never had this before today. The combo meals come with a drink and bag of chips ~ other dog options include hot link, chicken, all beef, and polish. I even saw a Pickle Dog on the menu :) There is a parking lot adjacent. Staff is so sweet and even came around the counter to give the kiddo a magic trick and hot dog candy. We heard there may be fun merch on the way and also a few new menu items coming soon too. Worthy of a stop-inside if hot diggity dogs are your kryptonite.

Really wanted to support the new owner & the old staff - same great food as always too. But......to hear & watch & hear the new owner behind the counter micro-managing & lecturing his hard working staff killed the old vibe. It really ain't all that complicated - they seemed to be managing just fine all those years before him. It was going on when we walked in the door & continued nonstop through our meal until the door shut behind us. I really like to support local businesses, but I'll never sit through that again.

They also serve other items like hoagies, sandwiches, teriyaki plates, and more. I can only speak for their Philaburger, which was one greasy delicious mess. Make sure you say yes to the cheese. Everything really meshed well especially the pastrami. Definitely worth a trip to try it out. I'm also really glad they gave extra napkins because this was messy to eat. 10/10 still. The folks running this place are also super nice. They saw me chasing after napkins that flew away and prepared more before I even asked. They also had a small table for the customers, which is nice because we got to fully enjoy the burgers. A lot of people came by to order while we were here.. seems like one of the locals' favorites (rightfully so)!

In the end I got the Bacon Cheeseburger and Garlic Fries with ranch sauce and a Root Beer. The burger had some weight to it. I knew I was gonna get my moneys worth. Garlic Fries could've used a bit more garlic but the texture and flavor was on point. Little on pricey side but well worth every penny! I would definitely eat here again. My new go-to spot when I'm in Richmond!

Pullin in my 2002 SI, the joint sent an arresting meaty aroma into the parking lot, a good sign..Dave ordered a classic 1/4 lb.cheeseburger minus the tomato? but with lettuce onions & pickle (I think). I made a wild & crazy choice....the Hot Pastrami Sandwich...that I've almost always exclusively ordered from Jewish delis (like Sauls in Berkeley or Langers in LA & Pastrami Queen in NYC) on light rye with fermented kosher pickles (except the one like those I had at Harry's Haufbrau in San Leandro) Any way ....what a surprise! Although not at all like the deli classics style, this generous pile of thinly sliced GRILLED smokey juicy meat with lettuce onions pickles tomato & just mustard on an oblong soft bun hit a homer! It was teriffic! As was David's cheesebuger even without the tomato?? (begged a bite) It's a neighborhood gem... too bad its a bit far but then again not as far as In N Out in Alameda or Pinole...will try the Philly Cheesestake next trip after I get released from the ER for cardiac arrest
