I haven't been diving in 20 years, and I wanted to do the PADI ReActivate program and inquire about Open Water Certification for my family. My first impression was that the staff was somewhat standoffish and cold. Other shops in the area weren't as flexible with the ReActivate dates, so I decided to book with Elite, and I'm very glad I did. I did the online review and then met Sarah at the shop for the in-person review and equipment checkout. Then we went to the YMCA for the pool session. The ReActivate program is to review the essential skills learned in the Open Water program. There was one other diver with Sarah and me; he was checking out new equipment, and so we worked together as buddies. Sarah was clear with instructions and very patient. She made it clear that we had the pool available all night and that we could take our time. Even so, I was having trouble. I was feeling anxious and, over time, was getting cold and shivering. Sarah continued to be very patient, encouraging me to take a break and warm up in the sauna and take my time. Eventually, she gave me the option of stopping for the night, and told me I could come back another night to finish up, no extra charge. I came back a few weeks later and worked with Keith. Again, very patient, very kind, very supportive. I worked through my stupid brain issues and got comfortable back in the water, ready for a trip this Christmas. It's clear that Elite cares deeply about making sure people learn and are comfortable in the water. With the exception of my first impressions, All the staff were supportive and friendly. Our experience with Elite Divers has been great . I went to them to enroll my teen son and the way they handled everything was excellent. I found everyone to be welcoming and highly professional. We did the pool classes in Jan with Joe at the YMCA in Morristown which was great . We then enrolled with Jay for the check out dive at Dutch springs a week back. Jay, Bill , Suzie and the entire team were really amazing . They were patient and made sure my son understood all the safety procedures and his gear and stressed the importance of safety above everything else. They understood we were newbies and made it a fun and enjoyable experience and helped my son out greatly. The important thing is they made us both feel at home and our experience could not have been better . I would highly recommend this team ( Jay, Bill and Suzie) to anyone that wants to get into diving. Regarding the store, you have to meet Fleming to understand why he is amazing ( Love his accent) . You need people like him who are passionate and can share their experiences without any pressure . The education he gave my son and myself in understanding scuba gear was worth its weight in gold. I found everyone to be welcoming and highly professional. When you enter a store like this as a novice things can be overwhelming, these folks made me feel completely at ease, and walked me through all the steps to get my certification refreshed. When it came to the actual course end pool time the dive master who ran the class, Joe, was top notch. He evaluated me and we worked on the skills I needed to perform in a way that mad me feel that I truly was ready to be underwater again. I was referred to elite divers by my pool guy. I had a suspected leak behind my light and it just wasn't practical for a snorkel repair, enter elite divers. Everything about this group is top notch. My wife and I happened to stop in one evening before a trip to the Bahamas to pick up some new snorkeling gear. Our first impressions were very good. We spoke with John and and he set us up with the gear we needed. A little over a year from that first visit I went ahead and pursued my Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Certifications with Elite Divers. I have been a repeat customer since and will continue to advance my diving with Elite Divers. The shop carries a large variety of equipment based on your diving needs. They have an in-house service center as well as an air bar for air and custom tank fills. I will continue to use Elite Divers as they have a very knowledgable staff and top notch instructors with a great selection of equipment. Back in August I ventured into this shop because of recommendations from my father. Best decision! I took my open water with Joe Reardon and Jay. If you are looking to truly learn to dive and have a great time doing it then I recommend those two! They helped me with answering all my questions and concerns and definitely made me feel comfortable in the water. I took my AOW with them as well and got the same experience. They are truly one of a kind! I have also traveled to Cozumel with them. What a trip they put on! Dennis told me all the prices and how much I should expect to spend. We got a great dive master on the trip and our own private boat. I will definitely be attending more trips with them. I recently went on another dive trip and saw some very inexperienced divers who claimed to have hundreds of dives under them. I can definitely appreciate my training under elite. I have been complimented on my diving abilities countless numbers of times and it makes me feel good that I learned the proper way! You won't be disappointed with elite! Elite Diving is the most shade dive shop around. Starting off with be over priced and poor customer service. Owner Dennis is a scam artists and scammed me out of 300$. To many good dive shops out there nit worth taking an chances with this one. read more

Elite Divers is one of the best, if not THE best dive shop in New Jersey. The staff is top notch, and so are the instructors. If you need help picking out gear from the shop, just ask for Dennis or Matt and they will help you out. For the dives, I had Jay Cannavo as my instructor and loved every second of it. He is patient and extremely knowledgeable about diving, plus he is an ex Army Ranger so he's a complete badass. I attribute my newly learned diving skills to him 100%. If you simply listen to what he says, you will be a great diver in no time. If you are hesitant at all about learning to scuba dive, just go to the shop and ask for Jay and you will not regret it at all. My son and I have completed our Open Water Certification with Elite Divers back in August. They are a first class establishment and the staff are knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The handful of instructors I have worked with directly, including the owner Dennis, take a positive and supportive approach but most of all they make the learning experience fun and personable. As a parent sharing this experience with my son, safety has been paramount in my selection. Elite Divers certainly takes every measure to ensure our safety and give us a level of comfort during every phase. I am a PADI Instructor and have dove all over the world and I must say Elite Divers was by far my worst diving experience ever. In fact there isn't a close second. I prearranged to rent takes with specific fills. First, their prices were way above market but because they were recommended by the charter service and I was out of town I agreed to pay their outrageous prices. They wouldn't accept credit card just check which I thought was strange but later discovered why. They gave me the wrong size tanks and their mixes were 3-5% off. When I complained they refused to help me remediate the situation or provide any kind of refund. I am guessing with this kind of customer service they will be out of business soon. I wouldn't trust my safety to one of their fills ever. read more
