It has been over 10 years since I became a certified PADI scuba diver at Blue Water Divers. Since then I have taken additional, advanced courses at their facility to further my scuba skill set. This is an excellent SCUBA training facility. I have sent several friends here to obtain their PADI open water certification and they all have become fans. Instructors are all very friendly and helpful. I consider myself lucky to have a dive shop like this so close to my home. The Facility: They have a heated dive pool on the premises for your initial pool training. If you're looking to get certified to have they offer several options to help accommodate your schedule, including the traditional Open Water Course: (two nights per week for three weeks - ~$225) and the Executive Open Water Course: one entire weekend (Saturday & Sunday ~$295). I took a scuba diving lesson at Blue Water Divers. I found a very cheap Groupon deal which I decided to accept. This venue is located right on Route 17 Southbound; it can possibly be difficult to park in the lot if it is full, but one may also park on some adjacent streets. My instructor was very friendly and knowledgeable. First, I was fitted with the right scuba attire and I watched a video on scuba diving. Afterwards, my instructor taught me the body language of scuba diving and I really felt very comfortable with her advice. For about ninety (90) minutes, I truly enjoyed swimming around the pool with the scuba gear and I definitely felt like I made much progress throughout my lesson. I even had my instructor take pictures of me with a waterproof cell phone case while I was underwater! I would certainly recommend this organization to others. read more

I really wanted to love this place but the service was disappointing. I registered my child online the end of March like I was told over the phone. After registering I never received a call. After a week I called and was told they are figuring out the schedule and would give me a call back. That was the first week of April. I called again mid April and was told the same thing. It is may and I never received a call or was given any information. Really sucks and I tried to be patient from the good reviews. read more

I registered my 4 year old son for swimming classes. Upon arrival they allowed my son to get in the water for less than one minute. He was so excited. Then they took him out asked me to hold him back as he had to wait for his turn for instruction. As a paying customer, I have to hold my son back while he's crying to get back in the water??? I am paying for him to be miserable and for myself struggling to calm him down??? The manager came through and explained that students do not really get 30 minutes of water time. Each instructor has up to 3 students who will each get 10 minutes of instruction. So while other students get instruction, my child has to sit out and wait. The interesting part is that my son was the only one who was asked to get out of the water. All the other children were able to stay. When I expressed my frustration, the manager explained that it's important that children learn to take turns. However, that did not apply to the other children in the pool who were not asked to wait or sit out. She then asked me to change my son back into his regular clothes so she can refund my money. Absolutely nothing is taken into account to ensure that each child and each family is satisfied with the experience. The service was nothing short of unacceptable. read more

DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY I enroll my 2 yr old grand child in the swimming program. It was mandatory to buy a swimming diaper they sell which they emphasized soooo very much, nevertheless, i never received it because it was never delivered so after complaining they refund me the money. Please DONT WASTE UR MONEY the trainer is almost never there and the other two employees are nice but they only thing they do is taking ur child from one side to the other, and thats if they take ur child cz is mainly u who takes ur child in the pool. Go to a friends pool or pay a pool membership it will be more beneficial to ur child. read more

I've gone to Blue Water Drivers for a multitude of different reasons. From renting a wetsuit or getting my passport photo, it has always been the simplest process. A big reason for this is because the staff has been so helpful. They have a good way of explaining things that lets you realize what you are looking for and what best fits your situation. This was the place that taught me how to scuba dive. I was a little apprehensive at first because the whole process seemed a bit complicated although it was anything but. The instructors are very patient and ease you into each new step you're finally ready to be dive certified. There's something so calming about hanging out underwater for an extended period of time. Longer than you could hold your breath. It almost reminds me of, "The Graduate." You can just the bubbles float to the surface and feel weightless. It's such a cool feeling. read more

This Shop is the best in the Northern New Jersey and New York And i have used this to get PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver Certified in 2015 and Instructor Mike Kresky was the best and it changed my life. Also have done my PADI SCUBA Refresher with this Shop from 2015-2017 as well with Divemasters David Brewer,John Oriocco, and Instructor Andy Schudent. In addition to doing my open water training dives for my PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver with this Shop at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem,PA I have done divemaster guided Dives at Dutch Springs with this Shop during the summer of 2016 and 2017 and had the opportunity to attend their pig roast event in June 2016 and still use them to this day for Dutch Springs Guided Dives,Travel Consultanting and Dive Equipment Rentals.Now I look forward to doing there Wreck Trips in New Jersey in the near future and go on their travel trips. I coordinated AND PAID FOR a dive off the Gypsy Blood for 25 SEP 16. I drove up to the boat (3 hour drive for me), and the boat captain told me he had cancelled the dive THE DAY BEFORE, and notified Blue Water. Blue Water never bothered to notify me or any of the other guys that were there who had also paid for the dive. I tried to contact Blue Water twice on the 26th and once on the 27th, and they don't even answer their phone. Shockingly bad customer care, and it's gonna get them a credit card dispute as well as bad reviews on every platform I can find.... read more

Great place to learn scuba. If you're just a beginner, the instructor will show you a video, answer any questions, and give you a heads up of what to expect. He will then bring the class to their swimming pool, fit you into your scuba rental gear, and show you the basics of scuba. It's a lot of fun, and with proper instruction, can be a great hobby. Of course, being a retailer, he may give you the mandatory sell-up shpiel, buy something if you'd like. I would recommend this place! read more

During both certifications we felt at ease with the lessons, and comfortable with the equipment. The trips out to the quarry were well organized and fun. Blue Water Divers is as good as it gets. I was looking to be scuba certified and had heard about this shop from a friend. I started with the intro to Scuba course in their on site pool and immediately knew that this was for me and I wanted to get certified. I purchased the executive weekend course for open water certification and shortly after injured my back and had to put my course on hold. The staff was very friend and accommodating working with me as I had to reschedule numerous times and not once did anyone give me a hard time. For the executive weekend course we had Marc as our instructor. He was very knowledgeable and worked well with the class to make sure that everyone understood each skill and was able to do it comfortably on their own. This past weekend I finally had my opportunity to do my open water certification dives at Dutch Springs with the Bill and Eddie. Bill and Eddie were very informative and supportive with the whole process and amazing to work. They also were extremely helpful with carrying my gear due to my medical limitations. I ended up buying my equipment from the shop and was pleasantly surprised when I looked online that what I paid at the shop was in alignment with online pricing if not an even better deal than I could find online. I liked the fact that I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell me on anything and were giving me their honest opinions on actual experience with the equipment I was looking at. Overall this whole process was great and I will be sticking with Blue Water Divers for all of my diving needs. read more

Blue Water Divers is an exceptional facility that is conducive to becoming any type of diver that you wish -- whether that is a "just-for'fun" diver or a dive master with multiple certifications. The staff is professional but jovial and helpful; they are always at the beck and call of the customers. Every time I go to BWD, I acquire the information I need and leave with a satisfied feeling that I am getting much more than my time and money's worth. The aura of BWD is close-knit; there are dive meetings on the first Wednesday of every month--titled "On the Bottom" meetings--that allow divers to congregate, converse, and share stories and information regarding different dive experiences. I have made many new friends and acquaintances through this facility and these meetings certainly help facilitate interpersonal connections. Lorraine, the owner, is a certified diver herself and also the vice president of travel coordination for dive trips. The expeditions are always impeccably planned and I feel that when Lorraine has coordinated a trip, I will be traveling in class -- no less than 4 or 5 star. On trips, the wrecks and dive sites are only the best; when we traveled to Cozumel, Mexico and Grotto Bay, Bermuda, I participated in cave dives, night dives, (of ship wrecks) and standard dives; I received the ultimate education for these dives prior to exposure, and when we went out, I felt fully comfortable. Safety is my #1 concern and it was a team effort on every dive. BWD's team made this possible and I would recommend them as nothing less than 5 star. At first I thought that everyone was nice. I went to go try on googles that had been purchased for me (the person who bought them for me had been told that I could bring them back and try them on in the pool they had to make sure they fit) and purchase a wetsuit because I'm going on a long trip to get my divemaster certification. First the guy tried to tell me I needed a full wetsuit when I requested a shortie but said something along the lines of "but you can get whatever you think you need" with a tone of annoyance. The wetsuit was almost 170$ (which seemed expensive to me) so I decided to look it up online and found that it was almost 30$ cheaper. I decided to ask if they would match the price to which he said he would give me around 20$ off. So when I said I would get them off amazon (mind you i had worked almost a year to save money for this trip and certification I wanted to save all the money I could) the guy got visibly annoyed and started to say things like I was rude for doing that and how could I since they let me try on the wetsuit and were letting me use their pool (which i hadn't gotten in yet and was also something that I was told I could do even if I wasn't going to purchase anything else there besides the googles that WERE purchased there). Anyway who ever the larger man working there was made me feel extremely unwelcome and I will definitely not be going back. I have reached out to a few NJ dive groups and let them know of my experience too. Anyway I'd just look around online before making purchases. read more

I have been visiting BWD since my local dive shop closed down back in 2015. While I initially found it initially cumbersome to get to BWD (I do not own a car) I now feel it is well worth the effort to make your way there. Let me list the reasons: First of all their expertise shines through. Rei helped me get a cold water BC because mine was inadequate for that sort of diving. She wasn't just selling me something- she made sure that the BC would be fit properly for my build and be configured appropriately for my needs. Not only that but she gave me a price that matched what I could have gotten online. There is no substitute for that sort of service; there is no substitute for the experience and integrity a real professional brings to the table. I first got Nitrox certified at DWD, then continued with First Responder training and recently got my Wreck certification with Keith - an instructor who is genuinely kind, attentive and professional. Somewhere in there I also did a refresher dive. The staff is always been kind and helpful and it is great to have the pool to test out new equipment. BWD is probably one of the best dive shops in the NE USA. read more
