Began with Scuba Guru when (last-minute) I decided I wanted to get certified before going on vacation. Called many shops in the area, but only Scuba Guru responded to my last-minute request (and they responded on a Sunday). They made it clear that what I wanted was doable, and they provided me with specific instructions of what needed to be done and by when. In the end, they were able to completely accommodate me, and provided me with a diving experience and education that gave me the confidence (and certification) I needed to make my vacation a great trip. After my initial experience and vacation I decided that I wanted to further my diving abilities, and of course returned to Scuba Guru to get advanced training and certifications. Be careful that you understand what you're signing up for. This is an accelerated course, not with a dive store or resort, rather an independent instructor. You'll be expected to complete skills testing in a matter of hours and if you don't do well or aren't feeling comfortable you won't get special attention, you won't be given/offered options or time to work on the anxiety or panic. Instead you'll be told you can pay more money to join another classes and take the place of a full paying student, which still won't help you work on gaining comfort and confidence. Additionally, you want to make sure your equipment fits and should try on EVERYTHING and ask questions (we aren't the professionals that are experienced and know). After panicking and having anxiety about the pool experience with Scuba Guru, I wasn't going to give up on myself and my desire to dive, so I consulted with other dive shops only to realize that the curriculum for the pool skills testing was accelerated, the mask I was given didn't fit, wasn't sized properly and the fins were super stiff and too long. Everything I received from Scuba Guru or that he directed me to purchase had to be returned (to store purchased from) or repurchased and I was not offered any type of refund. I did not go on the trip to do the open water portion I paid for, no refund offered. I understand I signed documents stating no refund however I want others to know what happened to me and hope that if you're looking to do scuba you NEVER have the HORRIBLE experience I had!!!! Best part is now I've found an amazing place to learn to dive with and can't wait to become a Padi Master Scuba Diver! read more

From my initial inquiry to various steps in the process, my questions were answered quickly. Follow up. No details are left to chance. Frequent follow up communications let nothing slip through the cracks. Convenience. Everything is provided for a one-time charge. PADI e-learning is used, and helps with the knowledge requirements. Limited class size ensures everyone gets the attention they need. During the actual course Mike ensures everyone understands the concepts, moves on only after he checks for understanding and students demonstrate the process. Time saver. The SCUBA GURU team conducts intensely comfortable sessions and doesn't string things out. The SCUBA GURU website is also an excellent source of information. You can get most of your questions answered from reviewing the site before making your call. My boyfriend and I recently completed our academic and confined water dives with Scuba Guru for our Open Water Certification. We were on a time crunch because we wanted to have the first half our the certification completed before leaving on vacation the last week of August. Not only was Scubaguru the only dive center who could accommodate our schedules, but they have the best set up when teaching their classes, which have a 1:4 instructor to student ratio. They were great in following up and ordering our gear so it would be delivered on time. Both the water and confined water classes were very hands on and allowed for personalized one-on-one feedback. When reviewing the academics portion, the instructor made sure to clarify any topics or questions that a student did not understand. Their method and modules of combining all of the confined water dives along with the academics into one day is brilliant and very effective. Prior to this class I did not have an interest in pursuing any other certification besides my Open Water. After this experience, I cannot wait to continue my certifications and continue to build my scuba diving skills with Scubaguru! read more

My husband and I were working with a short time frame to get the confined water session pool and academics done before our trip and we accomplished just that. With a small student to instructor ratio we were able to get a more intimate learning experience and feel very comfortable getting in the water. I recently got my scuba certification done with Scuba Guru. Right from the get go you could see the passion and love of scuba that the instructor has. He wants to take your interest in scuba and get you into the water and learning. During the pool session, he was calm and patient to make learning the scuba skills easier especially when anxiety starts to creep in. On the first day of our check out dives, we had awful weather and he was considerate of our comfort the entire day encouraging us to do things to keep warm. He also gave us a choice in how many dives to do that day versus on day 2 when the weather was supposed to be better. He would frequently say "I want to make sure you're happy" and it was something that really came through in how he treated everyone. The check out dives went well and he even treated us to some surprises in our last dive. Finally, I also just want to note the kindness and compassion he showed to my girlfriend who faced some personal struggles getting into the water. Overall, getting my certification done with Scuba Guru was all I could of asked for and I can recommend him without hesitation. I also want to give a shout out to the two divemasters who assisted in the check out dives, as they added to the overall great experience with their help, kindness and encouragement. My wife completed her Classroom and Confined dive with Scuba Guru and I completed full PADI Open Water Certification. We could not be more pleased. The Scuba Guru team was professional, helpful, and understood the training mechanisms required in order to instill the skills required to become comfortable breathing underwater for the first time. Patience by the Scuba Guru team was instrumental. We were allowed to go at our own pace and if we needed to stop and catch our breath, the Scuba Guru team was there to calm us and help us relax to continue our dive training. Safety was first and paramount and the Scuba Guru team spent one on one time with us when needed to ensure our comfort and proper performance of the trained skill. Well guess what, they all charge the same, have the same boring schedules and the person answering the phone usually isn't the person who trains you. Do yourself a favor and JUST CALL SCUBA GURU!!! It truly was the best experience. I knew from the second Mike called me back, I would go with him. My wife and I completed our open water certification less than a month ago and it was the best decision to use this school.
