My wife took her car here on the recommendation of my mother and my brother. My wife dropped off her car and they required her to bring the insurance check. They never gave her an estimate. When the car was finished and I saw it in our driveway I immediately saw a dent that wasn't repaired, the window was out of wack and did not sit right and the power lock (had nothing to do with the repair) no longer worked. Recently the door molding on the door the repaired fell off. I realized it was the original molding, never replaced and was attached with weather stripping adhesive. I made the repair on the door molding myself and had the other issues addressed by someone else. Perhaps it was my fault for allowing my wife to take care of all this but she went there on the recommendation from my mother. I'll never bring any of my cars here again. This is the type of place where you take you car and never have to worry about problems. They were amazingly nice as well as helpful. Knew what to do with the insurance. Knew how long they were going to keep my car. Got the parts needed right away. Explained what I needed and suggested things as well. Cleaned my car and made it look like brand new. These guys fixed scratches that I didn't even know were there. I can't say enough great things about Elite Autobody. If you really want a place that is honest and sincere I heavily advise trying here first. Highly recommend! I ripped the plastic part of my front wheel well off and went to Elite. Both Paul and Louis were amazing! So nice and helpful and even did the repair while I waited. I have a 2014 E550 Mercedes Benz 4matic! Paul Laregina the owner and painter I wanted the whole bumper painted no blend cause they don't last and nobody will guaranty a blend! So the worker Louise came out, we talked earlier and I told him about someone that wanted to do the blend, and told him I don't want it done, because of what I mentioned above! So what happens Paul gives me a price of 300-375 for the blend but I told him I didn't want it, so guess what he did it anyway, he blend it figured I might like it and it would be quick! Well I caught him cause I use to have a shop and right out the door I told him, why did you do the blend and he said how did you know, cause there was road grime from the street so I know you didn't pull the bumper, and your blend which was terrible cause you had dimples in the clear! I have Glacier White which is a hard paint to do! So he said I took a chance, can you believe this, this is a terrible shop! They are so unprofessional and irresponsible don't end there, I told him he better pull the bumper off and send me pictures and he did, but it don't end there! He does all the work puts it back on I give it a quick look over which I should off really eye balled it, but when I got back to my garage I looked at it and there way over spray build up of clear at the bottom near the vents! So I go back to the shop a Louise was there cause Paul is never there don't answer his phone neither number, and both voice mailboxes are alway full that another problem! So Louise seems what I was talking about and said bring it back Monday and I could block it out 10 minutes and buff it I said kool! So at this time I was still trying to get in touch with Paul! So I forgot to ask Louise for touch up paint, but he didn't have any bottles for me, but I see Paul there and I asked, did you listen to any of my calls or text he said know! So I told him what was happing and Louise checked it out and said easy fix, but I guess he couldn't stand the fact I was back because of his again bad job! He said Im gonna give you your money back and you could go somewhere else! You have to be out of your mind to go their, there's only two people there Louise the worker who disassembles and assemblies the parts and Paul Laregina owner and the painter! This place is a JOKE work is backed up it's ridiculous !!!! You better get his personal number which I had and never answers that either and if I could give a score of zero 0 I would!!!!!! Had a brand new ford edge get sideswiped. The car looked like it was beyond repair. Brought it to Elite on the advice of a friend that owns a lincoln dealership. When the car was ready I was blown away. The pearl paint was the exact factory match. All panels lined up perfectly. There was no sign that body work was performed. Believe me I am a stickler and look for swirls, shadows from bondo application and fish eyes and dirt in paint jobs. This was a factory looking job, first rate in every way. The owner (Paul) is a fair and honest businessman. If you have to meet Paul by "accident" believe me, you can relax and know your car/truck is in good hands. Don't take your car anywhere else but here. Paul the owner is one class act guy. My wife had something deflect from the highway into the front of her 2013 nissan rogue. The front grill was chipped and she lost the nissan emblem. I bought a new grill and emblem it was easy to put on a few clips ( I thought). I couldn't get the grill off because of two clips that were hard to get at to remove. I stopped over saw Paul he came out to look at it and he put the new grill and emblem on it while I waited. I said how much do I owe you he said nothing, I offered to pay him he said no that's ok, I offered numerous times but he wouldn't take anything.Its hard to find a person who will do that for you, that's why I am writing this review so everybody knows what a genuine person Paul the owner is. Mr. Paul La Regina, the owner of Elite Auto Body on East Centre Street in Nutley has got to be one of the most sincere, empathetic, fair and honest businessman in the area. I interrupted the guy during lunch and I didn't realize!! He was nice enough to come out and give me an estimate any way even though it was his lunch break. He was a very honest &friendly man and told me I really didn't need to spend money on my car. He Gave me some tips and I was on my way. I've been to three other places before his prices ranging from five hundred to two thousand and not one person told me I shouldn't fix this issue because it'll resolve on it own. Would not recommend. Stopped by and talked to the mechanic, got a quote and an appointment to bring the car in to be worked on. On the day of the appointment, my son brought the car in and was told they couldn't work on it. When I called, the secretary told me to take the car somewhere else they where too busy to work on it! I am truly shocked to see any decent reviews for this business. I was recommended to "Paulie" by an old high school friend of his so I trusted he would do right by me, as that is exactly what was promised. Nothing could be further from the reality of what happened. My accident occurred in New York and I made arrangements for Elite to send a tow truck to Ardsley to retrieve my vehicle. Although I was promised vehicle transportation within 24 hours, it was nearly a full week before my car arrived to the Nutley shop. Over $1,200.00 later for storage and the tow, I was told by Elite that they looked over the car and the parts were on order. Since the repair would take approximately one week more (by the time they got the parts) they wanted to hook me up for an Enterprise rental (clearly they have an interest in referring business). They seemed annoyed when I declined a rental and they tried to push it on me and told me several times that my insurance would pay for it. I still declined as I had a lot of travel scheduled and had no need. Two weeks later (3 weeks after the accident) I went to the shop to inquire as to why I had not been notified to pick up the car and I was told that they were waiting for me to give them the green light to order the parts. This was completely bizarre and made no sense. It was clear the mistake was theirs so they promised (again) to have my car done in one week. One excuse after another, I finally retrieved my car six (6) weeks after the accident and there were problems with the repair. They fixed the misaligned hood after I pointed it out to one of the mechanics but they charged me $535.00 MORE than they had promised AND I found out from my insurance company that they actually owe me money because they used after-market parts instead of the dealer parts for which my insurance paid top dollar. I tried to see Paulie to discuss the myriad issues that transpired but he is a coward - he will not face me and has a different excuse any time I try to reach him. By the way, I do not typically complain about anything. The disrespectful and totally irresponsible way this business handled my car and me, as a fellow human being, have caused me to go against my very nature and file this negative review. I highly recommend using ANY OTHER body shop than Elite. read more
