Eli's Night Shift is open for breakfast and lunch now. I reported the new hours and posted it as a tip May 1st 2024. I intended to return but got Covid in May so I wasn't up to the walk to 79th. Fast forward to recently when the bagel place I went to didn't have seats. I knew the employees at Eli's were nice. I asked if I could sit at a table if I bought a coffee. The employee was very gracious and said yes. He said hot or iced Decaf Americano was the same price, $4.36 with tax. I gave him a tip and considered myself lucky. It's a relaxing atmosphere and since the weather was beautiful I was very comfortable. I'm definitely returning for the delicious cold brew coffee. I hope the nice young man will be there to make it for me! I'm recommending you visit this Eli's location any time of day or night.

I've always passed by this bar and thought I'd give it a try. I thought it was pretty average... we got ~$20 cocktails each and they didn't taste very strong but rather a little watery and not what I was really expecting. It was OK. Also the service was not very good, had to flag down the waiter a bunch of times unfortunately. Maybe I'd come back at night if I'm in the area but not rushing to go back...

I had a great meal at Eli's Night Shift last night! First and foremost, though, I want to point out that this restaurant and bar currently has a Grade Pending restaurant grade which is concerning. I really hope they get this resolved soon. Ordered: Flying zombo ($14): this drink was fruity and sweet. It was made with vodka, aperol, strawberry, basil (I couldn't taste it), lime and soda. It wasn't terribly strong and had a nice flavor. Chicken sandwich ($19): I really enjoyed this sandwich. The crunchy fried chicken breast was perfectly cooked. It was topped with delicious pickles and cole slaw and was served with salty (but not too salty) French fries. The sandwich was a good size but it wasn't huge. With the fries I found it to be a good portion. Eli's Night Shift is a nice neighborhood spot! I know the ingredients are fresh as it's related to the high-end food market a block away. Once they get their A rating, I'll be back!

I've visited this place twice within the last year and a half. To me, it has always had great potential. The environment is great, almost like an open market. I love how it is open to the street. However, seems very overpriced for the environment that it is. Drinks are overpriced like elsewhere in the area, not surprising. Food left A LOT to be desired. We got the night shift nachos with chicken for $17. The chicken tasted like it was pre-cooked chicken from the grocery store. Extremely disappointing especially for the price. Other dishes ordered were not as bad, but still quality was unacceptable for the price. Not sure that I'll be back, which is unfortunate because the environment does have a lot of potential.

Last night we were looking for a place to have a quick bite and a drink...my daughter suggested this place because it is new in her neighborhood and has gotten great reviews, so off we went! Well...I'm afraid to say how much we loved it because next time I'm in town I may not get a seat at the bar and we had fantastic service - unbelievably amazing steak tartare with toast points - and DOLLAR OYSTERS!?!?!?!? Wow. just WOW. I live in Florida and we can't find dollar oysters anywhere, let alone ones with fantastic mignonette sauce and small, beautifully shucked slippery little suckers like these! I was in heaven. WHY, oh WHY did we stop with just 2 dozen?? I am completely bummed because I'm writing this review from a seat at LaGuardia airport and just dreaming of those mouth-watering oysters! There's always next Monday...I need to make sure they're open because I'm there! (PLEASE save me a barstool and pour me a drink!)

Best pizza I ever had. Plus delicious kale salad and roasted broccoli. Great customer service. If you are in the area, must try.

I've been wanting to come here for years and had a great experience. Their COVID set-up is very good and I like how you can be mostly outdoors while still catching a sports game on their large projector screen. The restaurant has a laid back European ambiance. Their burgers and hand cut fries are excellent and they have a great selection of local craft beers as well as wine. The staff was attentive.

Side by side comparison of small and large cup for iced coffee proves I was listening despite the B- in high school geometry.

High end coffee shop selling at premium prices. Iced coffee is a rip-off. Same volume at 50% higher price. Is it physics or geometry that a taller, more narrow cone will hold the same volume as shorter, wider cone?

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! I've been thinking about this meal ever since I left the restaurant. You don't want to skip this place.

It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.

It's definitely a cozy and popular café--mostly cozy because of the size. Seating is limited, but the interior design is clean, minimal, and uncluttered, which makes the space feel calm and welcoming despite the steady stream of customers coming in and out while we were there. Food-wise, everything impressed us. I ordered the pistachio croissant, while my companions got the gochujang hot chicken sandwich and the breakfast sandwich. The chicken sandwich was especially memorable--unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My pistachio croissant was also great; personally, I might have preferred a little less pistachio cream or a more textured filling like almond paste, but that's purely a preference. It was still excellent. The service really stood out. They were quick, friendly, and incredibly accommodating--one of my companions accidentally dropped their sandwich, and the staff replaced it free of charge without hesitation. That kind of kindness goes a long way. The price point is amazing for the quality of food you're getting, and we felt completely comfortable lingering for several hours. Throughout our stay, there was a consistent flow of customers, which says a lot. Me and my girl was looking for a coffee shop that was laptop friendly and closed late since we came after work. I was a bit disappointed that they did not serve any alcoholic beverages as I saw a lot of good reviews on that portion. We came, we sat down on a Saturday night. There was only one person at the front and it seemed she was also managing the serving part so it did get pretty hectic at some point. We decided to order the Budae Jigae (Hot Pot), there is no way to alter the spicy level so for those who love spicy spicy, this is for you. Me and my friend was really disturbed by the fact that we were treated some type of way. Maybe it's because we weren't Korean or? Service was slow asf. It took a really long time for them to serve me my iced strawberry matcha drink. And even longer for the food. It was also hard to tag her down, and she seemed pretty annoyed that we had to ask her for multiple items. We were a party of 2 and she only gave us one set of items. I went again by myself the next day to see if it was better service and it was pretty packed. There was actually 3-4 people at the front but even then it was so hard to get someone to take my order, ask for napkins, for the check, etc. While there was no time limit on Saturday, there was a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes on Sunday. would I go again? Staff then handed me the glassware & a free sampler bowl of their soon-to-launch either lemongrass chicken/pork rice bowl after accepting payment. Portion was definitely more on the generous side to say the least. Devoured the sampler bowl in 15 mins because I was hungry & aside from keeping the rain not getting into the food. Staff called out your name when it was ready for pickup. Love starting my day off with the strong flavor of Vietnamese coffee! By far, this might actually be the best tasting Vietnamese coffee I have had in all my years. And, I'm usually not a coffee person either. Didn't taste watered down and/or heavily sweetened at all.
