This is my second time here. First time, my family and I left happy and very full. The service was really friendly and quick. It was a lot busier that time. We came for a late lunch today, so it's pretty chill and calm. Excited to see that they have lox, which I didn't see last time. They also have breakfast all day, which made my dad very happy. Today's service was really friendly. Our server was Sarah; super nice, very attentive, and super efficient. The was another server with reindeer antlers, who was super friendly and energetic, too. My only issue was that my lox plate had two pieces of salmon. Lox is my go to brunch order and every other place I've ever had it at has always included a more generous amount of it. It did satisfy my craving, though. Still, please add more lox to the plate. read more

Came around 630 pm. Right off the bat got hit in the mouth with a glass by worker. Accident but it really hurt and next day had burse. Ordered lemon rice soup which tasted amazing but was not hot came with good enough roll which was microwaved too bad. Had the chicken wings and were fried to perfection and had great flavor and popping hot. Had the spaghetti and meatballs which had great flavor but were microwaved and the meatballs turned into rubber and got hard also to bad. All in all I was starving so ate. Cost 40 dollars which was fine but I think they could have cut that in half at least for being hit in the mouth apon arrive I could have chip my tooth. 5/10 but would try again I think needs work read more

I was in town visiting and I use to come all the time when I was in high school. The inside just feels very empty and I think it would help this place a lot to upgrade the tables and chairs. The booth we sat in had green duck tape all over it to cover the holes. I think the quality has gone down quite a bit. The food was hot and came out quickly but it was very bland. No one really loved anything they got. Our waitress was very nice and was quick to refill our coffee. Overall, it's fine for breakfast but nothing that wows you. read more

I brought my autistic daughter to this restaurant. They were not willing to sit us at a bigger table where we could strap in her booster seat. Mind you, there were no bigger parties waiting at the restaurant. I was told "That table is for parties of 6 so we can't do that for you." We had 4. The lady with black hair, long eye lashes, and tattoos even approached us saying "Sooo what is the issue?" With a huge attitude. I will not be coming back here with my autistic daughter. Food is terribly cooked. I ordered the country fried steak for breakfast and it's honestly the absolute worst food I've ever tasted. The country fried steak is over cooked and burnt. The hash browns are crispy and overcooked. And over medium eggs? This place can NEVER get it right. They are ALWAYS cooked over easy. And don't get me started about the rude staff. Heard good things and I have been branching out for a new breakfast spot. Ordered Country Ham and Eggs, Came with hashbrowns, bread. Prices were great, portions were ok, not the order 2 eggs get 4 places in the north of Lake county do because they have to keep up with Sophia's because their portions are huge. Place was clean, wait staff was ok. Unfortunately this is yet another local place that doesn't know what country ham is and mis-labels what is just regular ham as country ham. WIki defines it as: Country hams are salt-cured for one to three months. If you haven't had one, stop in any Cracker barrel, or Waffle House and try it. Now the ham they served was fine but not what I ordered. They also call hashbrowns American fries which is odd. read more

My favorite go-to breakfast place in town! I haven't tried many things on the menu, but everything I've had was delicious! My favorites are the blueberry cream cheese crêpes and the chicken florentine soup (every other Tuesdays). The lemon rice soup is also my favorite in the area! Lemony but not overly lemony. Nice atmosphere, quick and efficient service, wonderful staff. All the servers I've had (Marija, Sarah, Marabel and Yolanda) were amazing and attentive. The hostess (don't know her name... she had reddish hair) was amazing as well, she greeted us and promptly accommodated to our group. The bussers were quick to clean off tables and prepare them for the next guests. The parking lot is always full around breakfast time, which I'd take as a great sign! I'm not docking stars for this but I would like to say I wish they cared more about how the staff dressed. Supper unprofessional to see a worker running around in a tank top with her belly showing. This place is a traditional restaurant that offers nothing spectacular or unusual. My lunch mate ordered breakfast (which you can do all day) and the eggs came back over hard instead of over easy. I am so excited to finally get to review this place on yelp. My family have been coming here for years after our dentist appts down the street and it's one of our favorite breakfast spots in NWI. The breakfast omelets are HUGE so my mom and I always split one since it comes with hash browns and toast as well. Hands down my most fave has been the Michigan apple with cheddar cheese omelet but the last week we had the Hawaiian omelet and it did not disappoint other. I know pineapple sounds kind of strange with eggs, but it was to die for. Definitely recommend if you're in the need of a good omelet. read more

Eli's Golden Apple is a restaurant and pancake house that has an extensive menu. I had a very good breakfast this morning consisting of my usual French toast, eggs and bacon. The waitress was very friendly and really seemed to cheer everyone up in our section. The restaurant was crowded for breakfast, usually a good sign. My breakfast companion had a skillet breakfast with pancakes that was very good. They do have lunch and dinner also. I'll have to go back to try out one of those sometime soon. My breakfast was a little over $7. I didn't think it was too bad but would have liked some hashbrowns included for the price. read more

I've been here before. Food is an amazing but it's the only breakfast pray place in Crownpoint. Went there today and was told I couldn't sit down because I had a small coffee from Starbucks. The manager followed me out to show me a sign I disagreed and she told me she doesn't need my business. OK maybe you don't because you work on a salary but I bet the owners want my business I bet that $30 I was going to spend isn't worth $1.50 up for a cup of coffee. I live in NWI, and have been to many breakfast places. My wonderful grandmother suggested we try Eli's. When we first got there we had about a 30 minute wait. Waiting does not bother us so that was not an issue at all. But we noticed that the building looked slightly congested, and as there were 6 of us we wondered how that would work. We ended up being very close to the people sitting around us. To the point you're nervous to move your chair back slightly. Once we were first seated we had to wait several minutes for our server to even see us. She did not acknowledge us. She simply asked what are you guys going to drink. As someone who has worked in service before, I felt as if that was very unprofessional, and quite rude. From there she forgot several things such as syrup, butter, and coffee. Though I'm sure some of it has to do with them seemingly being understaffed indicated by the help wanted sign on the door. I saw two maybe three waitresses for the entire restaurant and one hostess. After ordering our food the wait was not long for the food. I thought maybe things would get better given we didn't have to wait long for the food. I was wrong. My grandma's omelette was runny. As soon as she cut it in half the egg spilled out. I might be incorrect, but last time I checked omelettes we're not supposed to be runny? The waitress took back her omelette to have them redo it. However they did not redo it. It looked like they threw her omelette in the microwave when she brought it back. It was the same plate with the same previous food that had been touched. Her omelette was still runny. Her toast was burnt as well. I got the monte criste french toast. I was excited as it had strawberries and cream cheese hoping to give it flavor. My food was very bland. The other four with us also felt as if their food was just ok. Overall I was very disappointed. Service and food are mediocre at BEST. Save your money, and time. Go somewhere else. read more

So, the food was alright, the alcoholic drink was superb. But my problem was this: The managers at the time. It was my sister's wedding and we had time between the ceremony and reception so 18 of us showed up, we hadn't called and expected to wait. No problem there. However, the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived and the managers were very irate with us. They refused to move tables or anything and made us wait for people to finish their meals. By the time we were seated the restaurant was full. The manager was SO irate that we even overheard her complaining about us to another employee. She was a woman with red-ish hair. She explained that we had to sit together because we could only have one waitress. A person from our party said "were all paying separate" to which the manager replied "oh, well then you don't need to all sit together then." I'm glad we stayed because the waitress we had was incredibly delightful, fun, and wonderful. She really saved the experience for us. But I believe management is key to a worthy restaurant and her attitude nearly caused us to just leave and go elsewhere. I ordered their signature burger which I do highly recommend! read more
