The place has a solid locally owned Ma and Pa vibe. Ordered a Cuban Sandwich and a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. A coworker and I split them and had half of each. What a great little find! A buddy of mine and I were passing through town, and decided to stop at the rather horrible UFO Museum. Then we went looking for some lunch. Luckily for us, the first place we went had a 30 minute wait, because we stumbled onto Eli's, and it was GREAT! You can tell when a place does good Italian food (which we didn't have) because you can smell the sauce and the garlic. You know it's going to be right. I had a tuna sub grinder; really well seasoned. The bread was delicious, the portion was beyond huge. My buddy had a different sandwich, but he was raving about his as well. The guys were all very friendly, and it was sad that the place down the block and across the street had a wait and we were the only ones here. I took a photo and swore I'd get some review up here reflecting the quality and value of this place, so perhaps more people will find it. We had checked Yelp for a place to eat- really just looking for something local. Eli's was close. Reviews had a couple of complaints that seemed more grumpy about details on hours, etc. than food. Exterior is not anything special and might deter some people from going in because it is dated and could use a facelift. Walked inside and was very pleasantly surprised. Clean, very welcoming staff and it smelled like a small town bakery. The menu is extensive. We had Stromboli's and Calzones, ordered wings and fried pickles just to check them out. All of the food was fresh and generous portioned. I felt like the value was very good. We came back the next morning for breakfast and got a selection of doughnuts and kolaches. All very good. I recommend this place for anyone, but especially families. We are five with three teenagers- all picky in their own ways, but this is one of the few places where everyone was happy and left full. We will stop here every time we pass through Roswell. No need to go anywhere else. We asked the owner about the discrepancy with the hours online and actual hours. He said he is just not web savvy, so has not been able to fix it yet. Easy fix- I suggest calling before you go, just to make sure. read more

Cherry fritters are really good when fresh, but not always fresh. Sometimes, if you do drive thru, you'll be given apple fritters instead- and those aren't good. Real food, only other thing I've had here was a chicken parm sandwich and it was quite bad and the reason I'll only get cherry fritters from here. The chicken was a spongy, cheap chicken patty cut into strips with acidic sauce that came straight from a can with noone tasting it and going 'this is off' with a sprinkle of cheese melted on the top. The only reason I am giving Eli's 4 stars is because sometimes they aren't the quickest about getting their food out. There are times I've had to wait quite awhile for my food BUT the food is always delicious. Their sweet treats are also just as amazing. Different cakes/cheesecakes/cupcakes/donuts/etc you name it are there every day AND their cake decorator does such a great job with their cakes. This place is a not so hidden gem! I just moved to Roswell and live around the corner so I pass it frequently. I finally stopped in the other night and it is AMAZING. I wasn't going to write a review but after having the pizza, it needs to be written. I checked out this establishment for a quick slice of pizza, a quick snack. First of all the establishment is a bakery/pizzeria/restaurant they make a lot of different things. So that gives you an example that they don't have one signature thing they make. They took around 40 min. waiting for Eli Meat Lovers pizza, they took so long I decided just to take it to go so I wouldn't have eat in that dirty place. As I sat there for 40 min I saw flys all over the place, flying onto the pastry's where the glass displays didn't have a back to keep them fresh or protected. They also grabbed my doughnut with their bare hands, no tissue or gloves. The roof had multiple leak marks, I wish I had taken photos. Anyway the pizza came out finally, sauce was lacking the "brisket" was burnt and it tasted terrible. I would not recommend this place at all. We came in from a long trip on the road and asked the owner of the RV park where we could get a great meal that would deliver as our vehicle was being worked on and we couldn't travel. The first place they told us to call was Big D's. The second was this place. I should have called Big D's. We called to place an order for 3 Brooklyn Bridge sandwiches (7.50 a piece), french fries (2.99), fried pickles (4.75), Eli's Nacho Grande (7.25) and an order of Bistro Frita's (3.50). Totaled 52.28 which we charged to our credit card. They didn't take our name or the slip number of the motorhome where we were located so my husband called back and gave it to the girl that answered. They're located 2.4 miles away. We thought they must be extremely busy as they quoted us an hour for delivery. I was willing to wait as they were recommended and with an hour wait surely they were delivering all over town to satisfied customers.. Of course I "assumed" this and you know what they say when you assume. When the driver arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes later he told us that they didn't give him the address of the slip and he had to figure it out. We felt sorry for him but other than a hundred dollar bill all we had to give him was a five dollar bill. He skedaddled off before we could check the order. What we got (I took pictures due to the "owner" being quite rude on my call back) was nothing less than garbage. The sandwiches were stone cold, sloppily made and hard as a brick. Not one of us could even get through the edge crust of the bread (btw the bread is LOADED with garlic), which could be a good thing as its the only tasty thing you get. The meat was all over the place and dry. Hardly any sauerkraut and some nasty cheese thing that again I am assuming was supposed to be the Russian Dressing. It was hard and the consistency of movie theatre cheese that had sat for a while. The sandwich was flat and dry and basically was overly dried bacon on garlic bread. I opened my box of Eli's Nacho Grande expecting to see something resembling nachos. NOPE! WRONG! Huge chunks of lettuce and whole sized (not cut up) thinly sliced mushy tomatoes. I told my husband to get me a knife and I would see what I could do. While he did that I poked around and couldn't see anything other than thick store-bought corn chips and lettuce. I cut the tomatoes and chunks of lettuce up a bit and kept digging. I found 1 buried jalapeno and more corn chips. I could see some greasy reddish meat and some cheese sauce. Turned out to be burnt canned chilli. If you have ever ordered fried pickles ANYWHERE in the U.S then you know what they are supposed to look like. Small curled up thin pickles is what was in the box, so I tasted one. Old nasty grease overrode the taste of the pickle. The french fries also tasted of old grease. I picked up 1 of the Bistro Frita's that appeared to have fared better than the rest of the meal and attempted to bite into it. I couldn't bite through it. It seemed as if it wasn't made of bread. I attempted to tear it and my husband looked at me curiously as it loudly snapped apart like saltwater taffy. So I called them back and a guy answered that seemed put out that the phone was ringing and immediately asked me to hold. To which I flatly stated "No. I want to talk to the manager right now." He huffed and said, "Well calm down right now, lady. I am the owner. What's wrong?" So this is where I am going to tear into the "owner". I was taken aback at being referred to as "lady" and told to calm down as if I was throwing a temper tantrum which infuriated me as I was a customer service representative for L.L. Bean for 15 years and as a customer, I expect a certain level of courtesy on the phone. My voice got very loud as I asked him "You're the owner??" stunned that he had the attitude of a disturbed rattlesnake. He said he was and I tried to explain what I had ordered as I looked at it, and he assisted me in naming what the sandwiches were and told me he was the one who had "cooked" it. I told him it was a mess and began to explain what I was looking at and that I thought maybe it wasn't named correctly or that I had gotten the wrong items and if this was worth 50 dollars I was going to tear him up on a YELP review. (Here I am doing just that). He argued with me a bit then asked "Well whatya want me to do? You are going to give us a bad review anyway!" I told him that after waiting well over an hour I didn't want to have to wait that long again to have him cook it and was worried that it would a mess again. He INFORMED me I did not wait an hour as his delivery driver "just walked in" and had driven "quite a ways" to get to us. I told him that 2 miles is not far to drive and that he had left a few minutes ago and he told me that was a "lie". If we meet, "owner", we are boxing! Gramma's a strong WOMAN! I've been roughly a customer at Eli's Bistro for six years. I love their home-made touch to the Italian food dishes. While my favorite dish is the spaghetti and meatballs, the lamb gyros are a must have, as well. The owners and food service workers have always been very nice, so certainly don't understand why anyone would write a review about how rude they were on the phone at closing. A general rule I employ is to give a place several tries on foods. Yes, yummy foods to tantalize the palate. If tasty comfort food is what you want, then this is the place. They also have custom decorated cakes, and pastries, etc. They are now located in the old Tucker's building at 3109 N. Main. Check out their new location and online menu. We decided on having dinner at Elis Bistro because to be honest we had lousy service the previous week at China King. I have to let everyone know how amazing our server was her name is Sheri that I even had to call the restaurant just to let the Manager know how well my family and myself had been treated. The Cuban sandwich is amazing and we also tried a new drink at least new to me called Honeydew Tea with Peach Boba Beads and it was delicious. I also had the lemon curd cheesecake with blueberries and I was in heaven. I highly recommend eating at Elis because it is real homemade awesome food. I have only had a few of their menu items because I can't get past how great the Eli's Salad is, or how great the Baked Ziti is, their burgers and Gyro's are awesome also...I've been hooked on the Eli's Salad as of late :) The ONLY problem I've had is that the hours on their website AND the hours listed when you first search for the restaurant, are all VERY wrong- They are not open until 9:30(or at least all days that I've been told, never did get an answer as to when they close everyday except the 1 day I called they said they closed at 7:30pm), so that information needs updated so as not to fool people who are craving their food and have to find out that they're closed read more
