We stopped into Elim for lunch before going to The Met because it was between our subway stop and bus stop on the way to the museum. It was inexpensive for quality sandwiches and there was a small seating area. The menu is extensive with lots of options to customize your order. My daughter got the Philly cheese steak and I ordered a basic turkey and swiss on an everything bagel. The gentleman who took our order was courteous and helpful in answering questions we had about the menu options before placing our order. Been coming here for over a decade. Today was my last time. The guy who takes the grill orders must be suffering from memory loss because he's been getting my orders wrong or not putting them in at all. I wait 10 minutes only to find that they didn't even start the order. There was only me and 1 other person there this morning so there was zero reason why he is slacking. After he realized that he forgot my order, they tried to throw it together quickly giving me half cooked snotty eggs where the egg whites were still completely raw. Complete health hazard. This is the third or fourth time this has happened recently where he just didn't start my order as I order it and just has me standing there for 10-15 minutes like a dope. I made them remake the eggs. They gave me 2 tablespoons of potatoes with my order which is ridiculous as well. Good riddance. read more

After a great day in Central Park, my wife and I wanted a quick bite to eat. We came across Elim Deli Cafe and stopped in. We were blown away by the quality of the food. I had their version of a Philly Cheese Steak while my wife had a Turkey BLT on Flatbread. It was one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had (including Philly. Who wants cheese whiz on steak um?). My wife loved her turkey as well. The ONLY downside is that there is not a lot of seating inside the restaurant but the food is AMAZING. Now as a NYer, I was leaning towards a classic BEC (if you know, you know), but then I saw a sign for a "spam eggslut" sandwich. Now I am a fan of the Eggslut in LA but despite the trademark appropriation, I ordered it. Sandwiches were prepared pretty quick. Like Eggslut, the egg is fluffy and just barely cooked, which gives it a delicious consistency and flavor. The spicy mayo cuts the richness and the brioche was nice, shiny and fluffy! Loved it but just sad I forgot to take a pic. My friend got a chicken cutlet sandwich that he really liked. So why only 4 stars? Their coffee was just meh. I would be reluctant to get food from Elim Deli for a long time, as it is not as aesthetically pleasing as other Delis, but I quickly learned that looks can be deceiving. After having been turned away from a breakfast food truck since there was no apple pay, my craving for an egg on a roll was at its peak. I finally came to Elim and I was eager to make the purchase. The egg on a roll with turkey bacon ** and cheese turned out to be only 6.50! Not only was it reasonably priced, it was also fairly tasty and a good portion size. The atmosphere is pretty standard for a deli in New York City -- narrow space, faint music, along with the hot and cold food bars. My sandwich was prepared in a relatively short period of time. The staff were nice and close to ensure I had napkins and condiments. :) I'll definitely be back for more breakfast sandwiches! read more

I love this deli for a plectrum of reasons. 1) Affordable: You can essentially get an entire meal for under $10 which is difficult to come across in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. There are daily breakfast and lunch specials that come with a free beverage, you can't beat that! 2) Friendly Staff: I am always greeted with a smile and a Good Morning/Afternoon 3) The food is delicious: Whether you decide to get breakfast or lunch here, you're not disappointed. I've had various selections (chicken & broccoli, salmon, rice, lo mein, etc.) from the buffet, a bacon, egg, & cheese with a hashbrown on a toasted bagel, and a fruit smoothe here. I ended up eating my sandwich I got the turkey and ham with cheese. It was pretty good but the roll seemed a little old. They did put a lot of meat which was nice, but again he contaminated it. My boyfriend for the chicken pesto sandwich and he liked it but agreed this is a 3 star place. It could have used more filing. First off: their prices are super reasonable. Secondly: perfect place to go for breakfast/lunch. My sister and I walked here from Central Park after seeing reviews and pictures. Upon entering, we saw a buffet style table laid out, which you can buy per pound- the options on here ranged from fruits, vegetables/salad, to lasagna/pasta options, dumplings-- all kinds of things really ! As a student of the campus nearby, Elim was a better alternative than the expensive cafeteria food. Although I frequented their salad bar, their hot food bar looked good too. The salads provided me a healthy yet filling meal to go about my classes. Their salad was any 5 toppings, plus the base and chicken you chose for 7.57 after taxes. Having a great amount of selections to choose from was definitely a plus. Avocado could have been one of the 5 toppings which is amazing. Their sauce selection for the salads was more than enough. The guys preparing your salad are always happy to help. Elim is a great place to get food from and their prices are not outrageous for an upper east side location. This deli is definitely a little gem in the Upper East Side, especially to those students at Hunter College (me!). I was craving for a bagel sandwich and went on a spree searching for places within only a few blocks radius (I was starving, wouldn't have made it if it was anywhere further). I walked in and the deli was pretty much seated full with some more people waiting for their orders. The hot food buffet immediately caught my eye because everything looked so good and fresh...fresh as in the food doesnt look like its been sitting there for 6 hours and is showing discoloration. There was a large variety and I spent most of my time actually just looking at the hot foods. I ordered the Herb Chicken and Avocado with mozzarella, lettuce and balsamic vinaigrette on a sesame bagel. It came out to only ~$6.80. The chicken was surprisingly juicy and not dry like most places. My only complaint is that I wish the cheese was melted but that's insignificant because everything was perfectly paired and the bagel was generously stuffed, I downed the whole sandwich in a quick 10 minutes! So happy I found this place and can now avoid those $10+ sandwiches in the area. I am definitely returning for hot food and more sandwiches!! read more

Is made fresh and you can add here and there what you desire to get extra. No complains from the staff, Pretty cool peeps. By 10am they start bringing lunch out freshly cooked.
