its okay i guess, depending for some people but now that ive read the reviews since im always anxious on what i always eat sometimes. i havent aten anything all day due to going to the pools so my family went here and the food made my stomach upset, i dont know if its because of greasy foods or something but i really do hope i wont throw up later tonight. read more

It used to be better. Nothing really that great. Service and ambiance are fine I just want better food.

Food quality is terrible. Everything was cold and rubbery. You would think that dinner time would have them rotating food and bringing hot food out. Absolutely disgusting. I hope we dont get sick from them. read more

This is an example of quantity over quality buffet restaurant. What can you expect. If your looking for a good buffet place then look elsewhere. read more

For a buffet, it's decent. It's got all the staples like noodles, good ribs, and chocolate frozen yogurt machine. That's all I need to be happy. It's nowhere near the Chinese buffet in Harwood Heights, but it's good, what you'd expect, AND they have karaoke! read more

Most expensive buffet I've been to with poor quality food and service. I am a cross country driver, me and my co driver came here because it looked like we could park our truck here safely and get something other than truck stop food. It was a big mistake coming here. They must put something in the food because after only 2 small plates both of us had similar stomach bloating and cramps that i have never had before. Neither of us are allergic to anything and both are extremely nauseous and had to cancel our next trip. Im worried we both have food poisoning. Would highly recommend eating elsewhere. read more

Lots of options, they change their food and the trays often so they're fresh, soda and its unlimited refill is included which is awesome! Price is around $14 came in during lunchtime. The ladies that work there are chill, they are pretty friendly, always on their feet and stay on top of things. They have a party room for events and place is kind of big inside. Will definitely come back. read more

I am not really reviewing this buffet because I seen no recent reviews. So yelp or whoever tends to reviews what sense does it have a review that is 3to6 years old. This is nuts and no help. It's not only this restaurant but many of them have old reviews. Let's modernize yelp and show recent reviews clean this web site up read more

No words, one of the best. I've tried a lot of buffets all over the country and very few have received 5 stars, very busy but hey they stay that way for a reason! A must try read more

I went there for carry-out and asked the unfriendly Chinese female cashier/owner how much per lb for carry out. she said I will tell you once you get the food here. I insisted. she finally told me reluctanty: regular $6.95 per lb, sea food $8.95. when I checked out a box with a few fried shrimps, she changed the price: just shrimp $11.5 per lb. What? she literally just said $8.95. I argued: you did not say that. why don't you have a price list written on the wall? she retorted: everybody knows that, except you! wow, how rude was that! such botched customer service still wants more customers?. that is rip-off. beaware when you get there for food. price changes dramatically. I would never go there again. read more

I went here for the first time and I liked it! The temperature checking precaution before entering was great. I liked how it was scanned on the forehead. Quick and simple. The food was AMAZING. Refills were always quick within the bins. The workers were very kind as well. There were many people not following the safety precautions, though. The buffet seems clustered and crammed, but the food was a 5/5. read more

Food was good for a buffet, my favorite thing was the Hibachi bar. The rest of the food was a bit greasy but hey not bad for $8.55!! Will definitely recommend if you are not sure on what to eat and want to try different food. I gave them a 4 because is a lot better than many buffets around the area or even Chicago. read more

Has one waiter during lunch rush, had to pay at the front and seat myself. Utensils was literally a fork wrapped in a napkin handed to me at the front. Food selection was standard if not less than a normal buffet and certain items weren't being replaced fast enough. At least you got to get your own soda but that was the only redeeming feature here. For 15 bucks during lunch I should've spent it on a hooker instead. read more

It's so bad. Under cooked food, trampeled over old food. Hated it and it was not clean at all. read more

Came to this place on a Tuesday evening, about 6pm. This place was pretty much deserted when we got here. The price for 1 adults, a 12 yr old child, and a 8 year old, was $32, which in my opinion is quote pricey for a buffet. Nonetheless, the food selection was not very great. They had the typical Asian buffet type foods, but much smaller space. The food looked very dried out, doesn't look like it was changed over in sometime. Went to the Hibachi grill, and was told to leave my plate there until someone can get over there and cook it. Waited over 10 minutes for someone to cook the food. The customer service was non existant. If I could, I would have asked for a refund. Would rare this place 0 stars, just based on taste, appearance of the food, the lack of customer service and overly inflated prices. read more

Nothing special, typical buffet. Your basic types of food at a Chinese style buffet. Sushi, noodles, rice, random pizza, chicken wings, etc. If you want all you can eat, this is the place for you. read more

I remember coming here a few times whenever I was home from college over the holidays. Maybe their recipes have changed, or maybe my stomach has gotten weaker since, but I ended the night by vomiting everything I ate here. So take my review with a grain of salt and maybe a breath mint. The food is oily and salty, but some dishes were decent. You go in, pay, and get the normal Chinese buffet grub. General Tsao's chicken, empress chicken, jello, different soups, some seafood mixes. My family loves their spicy soup, which is extremely hot and is probably flavored with a combination of habaneros and hell. Uh, that's about all I can remember. Tons of MSG and oil, which is what may have triggered the stomach turning. Fast on the plate removal. Place was clean, but my toilet was not. read more

The place is awesome for the buffet price. They have very good list of menu. What do you expect from a $12 meal??... All you can eat has its new meaning, They Limit you on the salt & pepper shrimp because people here really likes it. Crew looks at you as if you didn't pay for what you eat. What can I say.. I like shrimp! read more

Elgin Buffet - Awesome reminder.. Thanks for caring. - Buffets Near Me - Elgin, Illinois

Not good rice wise hard and salty, fish wasn't good either I don't think I'm coming back here again!!!!!!

Typical Asian buffet but here's why I give it four stars: I never eat inside. I work nearby so I go for lunch and get my food to go. They charge by the pound and for about 5 bucks I can pick out three or four good things to have for lunch. For 8 or 9 bucks I can have enough for lunch and leftovers for dinner. Stand out items for me that make it worthy of four stars: - Sauteed green beens - nicely cooked and still crispy - BBQ Chicken - very tender & sweet - Mongolian Pork - cooked with large pieces of onions - very flavorful - Spicy chicken - juicy and spicy - Cheesy Seafood Casserole - Not sure if this the actual name but it's a seafood casserole topped with cheese and baked. This stuff is decadent and addictive. Very rich so don't eat too much. The sushi isn't half bad either. Sure, it's not as good as a real sushi restaurant but it's way better most grocery store sushi. And make sure you get some of the red chili hot sauce. It's some of the best hot sauce I've ever had. I'll usually get extra to take home. I would seriously consider going there just to get the hot sauce and buy it by the pound! read more

Husband brought me here and it wasn't good as I expected. The food are not fresh and there are ones that are cold, stale and soggy. I guess you get what you paid for. Service isn't the best either, a lady goes around and takes your plate. She looks lifeless and tired. Saddest human being I've ever seen. Tables and chairs are dirty and God knows how much more of their bathrooms. Hopefully he won't take me back. read more

This place has great food and great potential. However, 90% of the employees here are complete assholes. I mean they are so rude. The look down their nose at you like you are the scum of the earth. Some of the employees are nice but the one who greets you when you come in the door is always rude and sassy and argues with you over everything. I love their food, but the service is so extremely terrible I just want good service and good food. I am not asking you to wait on me hand and foot but if it's lunch time I would like the lunch price. I went here last night 55 minutes before close but me and my friend were fast and we were out 15 minutes before they closed and we didn't leave a mess and they were still so rude. It doesn't matter if you're there when they open or right when they close, they look at you like they just wish they didn't have any customers. Why do people work customer service when they don't like people? Please, just be nice! read more

The food was good up untill this year. The cook staff must have changed. I was a regular at this restraunt, and dear God is the food absolutely awful now. Every chicken option tastes like old used grease with no flavor. The chicken tasted just like there fried rice which tasted like dry crunchy grease. They don't take care of the food at all its cold and undercooked. Nothing tastes like it's supposed to. My ornge chicken was missing the ornge part it was more like greasy flour chicken. Stay away from this place tge family that owns it obviously doesn't care about the quality of the food. Because of the people it attracts. But hey if your up for greasy food poisoning this is tha place for you! read more

This place is tucked away in a strip mall next to Elgin Fresh Market. Service: You pay to get in and you serve yourself pretty much. Nothing much to say. Everything is always refilled on time and all the stations are clean which is really nice as far as buffets go. Atmosphere: Typical buffet decorations. I am impressed at how relatively clean everything is. They also have decent looking party rooms. The music is also very nostalgic of 70's and 80's music with lots of ballads. Overall the atmosphere was quaint and enjoyable. Food: I have to say that the food is very hit or miss. There are good dishes, but there are a lot of okay dishes. Crab rangoons, Orange chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Sushi.... Were all okay. I did enjoy their chicken legs and white fish. This is pretty much the typical buffet were you come to get full and call it a day. Your tongue won't be wowed, but there is enough variety to keep eating. Even the soda and ice cream were okay. This place is okay. The good thing is that the buffet is very generously priced. You get a lot of variety for very cheap prices. $7.75 for lunch, and $10.95 for dinner. They even have cheap party prices it seems. The only thing I have to warn you all about is regarding some of the dishes. MSG overload! It is kinda common with buffet places, but yeah... You are going to get tired and sleepy if you eat the right combination of things. Or eat something too much lol. My tongue is rather picky though considering all the places Yelp has taken me to lol. Fair prices for lots of alright food. Clean and Decent atmosphere too! And unlike most buffets... This place passes the bathroom test lol. read more

Over a couple of years, I have visit this place to eat Chinese foods. Business have change management, changing names from China Buffet to International Buffet then to Elgin Buffet. If I was going to talk about the 12th dinner free card or Elgin Community College discount, it would have been old news, considering the fact that I don't go often to this place. The foods appeared to lost its Chinese fine cooking touch. For example; I don't remember Crab Rangoon being so tiny. If you ask me, I didn't eat lot of food in one plate and am not even on a diet. Sitting down with the food, they have flat screen TV with channel with no sounds. A commercial for Taco Bell appears on the screen for the new Taco Bell meal. It was more enticing than my 2nd dish in the buffet. When I tried the soup, they used to have a good base for your custom soup. But, maybe I came on the wrong day? It was soy sauce soup day. You kind of wondering whether it was the over-bought soy sauce or the expired soy sauce? For us American, soy sauce soup is just as tomato soup. Or not? I don't know when I'll come back but am not returning any time soon. By the way, did they really purchase a gambling license to open a Video Poker room and sell lottery at the side? And, yes, the picture about the shrimp was not a hoax. On my table, I got a reminder about Oyster giving ill born "bourne" illness. Did it forget to mentioned that it better not to eat it in the certain season? But, then again, if I really catch the Bourne illness, I would turn into Jason Bourne from the Bourne Identity movie. read more

The food is pretty good and there is a nice variety, but the fact that the staff kept allowing groups of inconsiderate people from talking every salt and pepper shrimp the second they put it out on their plate is inexcusable. Every single time, they would put out 20-25 shrimp, the person waiting there would load up 3 plates of then and leave nothing for anyone. Kept happening the entire hour we were there! Will not go back. read more

This was my first time there. I was so looking forward to this place. The staff was friendly enough but had difficulty communicating in English. I can't say much positive about this restaurant except the Pepsi was okay. Some of the negatives are: 1. Some of the plates were dirty, the silverware was very rough. 2. The food was lukewarm to cold. Evidently the steam tables weren't working or needed to be turned on sooner. 3. The labels for the food were nonexistent or very difficult to read. You couldn't know what you were getting. While there was a large variety of food most of it wasn't anything I recognized. To sum it up I will not be going back again, for the reasons listed above and I felt the prices were high read more

My daughter recently moved and Elgin is midway between us. She found this restaurant online so we decided to meet there for lunch. We got there right when they opened (11:00 a.m.) so it was not packed, but we were there with my 16 month old granddaughter so we try to dine away from prime hours. First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone, even if they were just adding food to the buffet, greeted us or asked how we were doing. I went to get a high chair and a young man ran over and grabbed it for me. The variety of food was great and the taste was equally as good. And to top it off, an employee came out and presented the little one with a balloon animal puppy which she thought was a hoot! Prices were good and it included a beverage. We WILL return, and thought it was certainly deserving of a Yelp! read more
