Most expensive buffet I've been to with poor quality food and service. I am a cross country driver, me and my co driver came here because it looked like we could park our truck here safely and get something other than truck stop food. It was a big mistake coming here. They must put something in the food because after only 2 small plates both of us had similar stomach bloating and cramps that i have never had before. Neither of us are allergic to anything and both are extremely nauseous and had to cancel our next trip. Im worried we both have food poisoning. Would highly recommend eating elsewhere. read more

Lots of options, they change their food and the trays often so they're fresh, soda and its unlimited refill is included which is awesome! Price is around $14 came in during lunchtime. The ladies that work there are chill, they are pretty friendly, always on their feet and stay on top of things. They have a party room for events and place is kind of big inside. I went there for carry-out and asked the unfriendly Chinese female cashier/owner how much per lb for carry out. she said I will tell you once you get the food here. I insisted. she finally told me reluctanty: regular $6.95 per lb, sea food $8.95. when I checked out a box with a few fried shrimps, she changed the price: just shrimp $11.5 per lb. What? she literally just said $8.95. Food was good for a buffet, my favorite thing was the Hibachi bar. The rest of the food was a bit greasy but hey not bad for $8.55!! Came to this place on a Tuesday evening, about 6pm. This place was pretty much deserted when we got here. The price for 1 adults, a 12 yr old child, and a 8 year old, was $32, which in my opinion is quote pricey for a buffet. Nonetheless, the food selection was not very great. They had the typical Asian buffet type foods, but much smaller space. The food looked very dried out, doesn't look like it was changed over in sometime. Went to the Hibachi grill, and was told to leave my plate there until someone can get over there and cook it. Waited over 10 minutes for someone to cook the food. The customer service was non existant. If I could, I would have asked for a refund. Typical Asian buffet but here's why I give it four stars: I never eat inside. I work nearby so I go for lunch and get my food to go. They charge by the pound and for about 5 bucks I can pick out three or four good things to have for lunch. For 8 or 9 bucks I can have enough for lunch and leftovers for dinner. Stand out items for me that make it worthy of four stars: - Sauteed green beens - nicely cooked and still crispy - BBQ Chicken - very tender & sweet - Mongolian Pork - cooked with large pieces of onions - very flavorful - Spicy chicken - juicy and spicy - Cheesy Seafood Casserole - Not sure if this the actual name but it's a seafood casserole topped with cheese and baked. This stuff is decadent and addictive. Very rich so don't eat too much. The sushi isn't half bad either. Sure, it's not as good as a real sushi restaurant but it's way better most grocery store sushi. And make sure you get some of the red chili hot sauce. It's some of the best hot sauce I've ever had. I'll usually get extra to take home. This place has great food and great potential. However, 90% of the employees here are complete assholes. I mean they are so rude. The look down their nose at you like you are the scum of the earth. Some of the employees are nice but the one who greets you when you come in the door is always rude and sassy and argues with you over everything. I love their food, but the service is so extremely terrible I just want good service and good food. I am not asking you to wait on me hand and foot but if it's lunch time I would like the lunch price. The food was good up untill this year. The cook staff must have changed. I was a regular at this restraunt, and dear God is the food absolutely awful now. Every chicken option tastes like old used grease with no flavor. The chicken tasted just like there fried rice which tasted like dry crunchy grease. They don't take care of the food at all its cold and undercooked. Nothing tastes like it's supposed to. My ornge chicken was missing the ornge part it was more like greasy flour chicken. This place is tucked away in a strip mall next to Elgin Fresh Market. Service: You pay to get in and you serve yourself pretty much. Nothing much to say. Everything is always refilled on time and all the stations are clean which is really nice as far as buffets go. Atmosphere: Typical buffet decorations. Overall the atmosphere was quaint and enjoyable. Food: I have to say that the food is very hit or miss. There are good dishes, but there are a lot of okay dishes. Crab rangoons, Orange chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Sushi.... Were all okay. I did enjoy their chicken legs and white fish. This is pretty much the typical buffet were you come to get full and call it a day. Your tongue won't be wowed, but there is enough variety to keep eating. Even the soda and ice cream were okay. Over a couple of years, I have visit this place to eat Chinese foods. Business have change management, changing names from China Buffet to International Buffet then to Elgin Buffet. Sitting down with the food, they have flat screen TV with channel with no sounds. A commercial for Taco Bell appears on the screen for the new Taco Bell meal. It was more enticing than my 2nd dish in the buffet. When I tried the soup, they used to have a good base for your custom soup. But, maybe I came on the wrong day? It was soy sauce soup day. You kind of wondering whether it was the over-bought soy sauce or the expired soy sauce? For us American, soy sauce soup is just as tomato soup. Or not? I can't say much positive about this restaurant except the Pepsi was okay. Some of the negatives are: 1. Some of the plates were dirty, the silverware was very rough. 2. The food was lukewarm to cold. Evidently the steam tables weren't working or needed to be turned on sooner. 3. The labels for the food were nonexistent or very difficult to read. My daughter recently moved and Elgin is midway between us. She found this restaurant online so we decided to meet there for lunch. We got there right when they opened (11:00 a.m.) so it was not packed, but we were there with my 16 month old granddaughter so we try to dine away from prime hours. First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone, even if they were just adding food to the buffet, greeted us or asked how we were doing. I went to get a high chair and a young man ran over and grabbed it for me. The variety of food was great and the taste was equally as good. And to top it off, an employee came out and presented the little one with a balloon animal puppy which she thought was a hoot! Prices were good and it included a beverage.
