One word DISGUSTING!!! I have been to many restaurants and buffets throughout the U.S and there's some good and bad, this one is bad. Smells like a nursing home, food taste like it has poison, workers don't wear gloves or hair nets, food is reused and finally costumers stick their hands on the food!! Very unsanitary.

The staff was great. The food was okay. That said, I could not help but wonder if the cockroach crawling on the table next to us later ended up in the chocolate fountain, or worse, someone's food. As I sat there pondering the fate of the cockroach, I looked up and saw an advertisement for the Bourbon Street Chicken and noticed the family shown eating said chicken was a African American family. The quote on the sign said, "My 3 favorite foods at Golden Corral? 1) Bourbon Street Chicken 2) Bourbon Street Chicken 3) Bourbon Street Chicken." Racist at worst and definitely insensitive. Do better Golden Corral!

Onion rings are delicious here, especially with the thick cheese sauce

4 stars because it's fairly good value. $20 dinner for 2 on Mon-Thu, lunch priced at $7-8 (ends at 4pm). Nice salad bar and desserts. Usually like their steaks. Awesome onion rings. They have 3-4 types of soups. Really like their banana pudding thing the best. More variety than what Old Country Buffet offers. Better value than Sweet Tomatoes. They also have soft serve ice cream, ribs, cotton candy, a chocolate fountain, a variety of fruit. EDIT May 2013 - I'm downgrading it to 2 stars because I came here on a weekend for dinner. It was during their wings promotion and was priced at $11something/person. I would've been okay with the price, except that the wings were poor in taste and selection. They were frequently out of their non-original flavors and the sauces weren't good at all, generally overly sweet and artificial. After that experience, both of us agreed that Golden Corral wasn't for us anymore. The onion rings were still my favorite though haha. EDIT June 2013 - 4 stars only for the brunch. I was extremely against going here again after my lackluster dinner experience during their wings promotion, but I was outvoted. I'm glad I gave Golden Corral another shot because it turned out to be a great local breakfast option mainly because of their massive, made-to-order omelettes and their fruit/salad spread. You can select the ingredients that you want in your omelette, and it's made right in front of you, ready in a few minutes. Love their fruit & salad bar, a ton of variety. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, so we usually try to sit at one of her tables :) The price was under $9/person, free drinks before a certain time (I forgot when exactly).

My wife and I stood in line for about 10 minutes on a Saturday night to spend $30 for buffet from hell. The place was utter chaos and filthy. Not a clean table to be found although plenty were empty. The buffet was well picked over and not being restocked. There was food all over the floor and the dishes were dirty. While walking past the kitchen, 2 staff members were screaming profanities and brawling with each other. I would have thought there wasn't a manager on duty but I did hear an overhead page calling one to the front counter. What a horrid experience and I am just grateful to get out of the place without catching some terrible infection or case of food poisoning.

When the caterer for our huge event of 120 people failed to show up at 6:30am, we were at a loss. I called around and the only restaurant able to assist on such a last minute-large scale event was The Southern Cafe. Without hesitation, DP said that he would do everything he could and cook not only our breakfast meals, but our lunch and two meals for the next day's event as well! In quick turnaround, he and his entire staffed worked hard and cooked up some great food. Thick bacon, great flavor, and phenomenal service. We nearly everything on the menu, and all of our guests loved everything! I can only imagine what they could do in restaurant if the food was this good and flavorful for 120 people on such short notice. So many people asked where the food was from so they can visit the restaurant and get more! I cannot express enough gratitude for the kind hospitality and delicious food service that The Southern Cafe provided. Truly, THANK YOU!!

The manager also checked in on us during the meal as well. All of our food came out promptly. Not only was it delicious, they were very GENEROUS portions. I am a bigger guy and I couldn't even finish my pancakes, as much as I really wanted to keep indulging. The place was immaculate and, considering how much syrup gets used, we didn't encounter any sticky floors or surfaces. All around, I am *already* looking forward to our next visit.

I wanted a brisket sandwich, but they only sell sliders. I'm not a fan of sliders, but it was served as one regular sandwich. I also ordered mac n cheese and cole slaw. The total was $23. After paying, the nice lady said that she could bring my order when it is ready because it was a little chilly outside. Lest than 10 minutes later my order was brought out to my car. The bag had some weight to it. I dug right in and ate right there in my car. I didn't care for the flavor of the brisket sandwich bread. However, the brisket flavor was phenomenal, so savory, and was tender as well. There was more salt than I preferred but not too much to ruin it. It's hard to find good bbq in this area, especially with me being from Texas. In contrast the mac n cheese needed a little help with some salt. Otherwise it hit the spot. The cole slaw tasted good and was more on the sweet side. The meal was far from perfect but I was satisfied.

However, I don't care what you say about old fashioned businesses getting run over by these new establishments and all the young kids. Breakfast needs energy. And this place had it. Low-Cal Scrambler (4/5) --- Light and good! Lots of fresh veggies and fruit in the dish! Good variety of fresh fruits! Overall a great meal, I actually couldn't finish it, it was too much for me. Southern Belle Scrambler (4/5) --- This combo consisted of two variables. 1 - A totally bomb skillet that included: Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns, Scrambled Eggs, and some vegetables. 2 - Disappointing chocolate chip pancakes. The skillet was huge. I took half of my entire meal home. And although it's hard to mess up a skillet, the cheesiness really brought everything together well. The only reason I can't give me order 5 stars is because I'm a believer in the pancake. If I ask for chocolate chip pancakes, I want more than just a few couple morsels drizzled on top. A meal for 2 with a large amount of take home for a little under $30. I'd recommend coming here to anyone.

It used to be packed on a Sunday morning. We ordered - my guest ordered some skillet thing, my wife ordered two eggs and bacon, and I ordered last, a Gouda omelette. The waiter asked if I wanted hash browns, and I initially said "no", but changed my mind and said "You know what? I'll have hash browns if I can get them REALLY REALLY well done" Oh, by the way, this is one of those places where they don't write anything down, they just memorize everyone's order. I told my wife and our guest "I've got a buck that says there not well done. Food came, I was served last, and the runner disappeared immediately, no "is there anything else?" I didn't even get a chance to point out the error. We started eating - I assumed the waiter would be by shortly (he wasn't). With three tables. I was nearly done with the omelette (which was delicious, by the way) when the waiter returned to check on us. I asked if he remembered our conversation where I requested "REALLY REALLY well done hash browns" and he said yes. My hashbrowns were the least done of the three meals at the table. The waiter said that's how he put the order in (and this is what bugs me about memorizing orders). He asked if I wanted new hash browns. By the time the hash browns came out the way I had ordered them, the omelette was gone. So, I didn't get what I ordered, the server ran away the moment my plate hit the table, long wait for the waiter to return, not used to getting my meal in installments. No offer for a discount, I paid $80+ for three people, including the lowest tip amount selection, 19%, which I really didn't think he deserved. In retrospect, I see why the place was empty on a Sunday morning. I have waited tables earlier in my life, so I feel qualified to comment on my waiter. My suggestion - stop by the table every so often, especially when the food arrive so you can resolve any issues early. I don't know if it was you or the kitchen, but somebody dropped the ball, and I was left holding the bag. First world problems, I know, but at the prices you're charging, get your act together and do better. We won't be back, very poor experience - not what it used to be. ETA: Funny how the owner never responds here. Doesn't care, apparently.

The ambiance strikes a perfect balance with dim, intimate lighting and a clean, modern presentation. It feels polished without being stiff, refined but still welcoming. Most importantly, it delivers where it counts, on the plate. We started with the lamb lollipops, cooked precisely to temperature and finished with crushed pistachios, pomegranate, and a rich demi-glace. Each bite delivered depth, brightness, and texture. The Dungeness crab croquettes were equally impressive, crispy on the outside with a delicate, herbaceous interior. Rich, but never heavy. The French onion soup is an experience in itself, served in a hollowed onion. Bold, deeply savory, and incredibly comforting. Service elevated the night even further. Our server, Karra, asked if we'd sharing and had the kitchen split our entrées into individual portions, a thoughtful touch. The steak arrived perfectly cooked, and exactly as ordered. We finished with the English sticky toffee pudding, warm, gooey, and unapologetically decadent. Montarra doesn't chase trends.
