Walked in to this small shop and it was a great experience. I hate to smell pure sugar, this place was a perfect mixture of a sweet, clean, and flavors. Service was great & my cake slices were GREAT! I had the please of meeting Miss Elf herself..... she was as sweet as het treats. I am looking forward to going back to try her cupcakes which another customer had bought all 4 dozen that were made! I always past this bakery on the way home. I decided to stop and give it a try. First of all I hope my grandma never sees this! I love pound cake and always thought my grandma made the best-crunchy top, nice moist and fluffy on the inside she has some competition now... so now I don't have to drive to SC for delicious cake as often. So I have tried cake from here and I wasn't a fan. I thought the cake was really dry. So I wanted to give them another try and try something else as she offers other items. This time I tried the cheesecake. I've had better cheesecake, but it wasn't bad. The crust was really wet so it was super soggy. I may have come in on a day where the cheesecakes weren't as fresh. But the taste was ok. The first time that I went, I wasn't really greeted but on the second trip I was. The store is small, but it doesn't need to be any bigger for what the place carries. you are really in and out. I may try the cheesecake again, but earlier in the week to se if its better. First of all, let me say that I contacted FIVE bakeries for a quote for my husband's 40th birthday cake. Elf's was the only one of two that bother contacting me back that actually listened to what I was asking. One bakery said they couldn't do the cake without it being Fondant (which my husband hates). Elf's Cakery not only knew exactly what I was talking about (the cake was World of Warcraft themed) but did a beautiful job with it! I arrived to pick up early and it was all ready to go! My mom ordered a layered dragon cake for my college graduation party. It was supposed to be the height of the party, she was so excited. Until she saw the cake. I don't know what this way, some one layer gecko or something, but it didn't look anything like the pic my mother showed me of what the cake was supposed to look like, didn't even have my school colors which she requested AND did not conform to any of the specs that she ordered. She was so very disappointed and on top of that, she returned the cake because she couldn't serve that to her guests and was refused her refund ($200 - half that she paid) and was told that people were complementing the cake all day where it had lain on the counter. I'm not sure who complemented that 'cake' but if it's not what the customer requested - that you as a business owner agreed to make - and the entire cake was returned, why would you not refund the money? I've seen other cakes this place has done, and it seems like what my mom wanted was something that just wasn't in their wheel house. Instead of saying that, they took her money and didn't make her the cake she wanted. What happened to customer service? read more
