Let me start by saying this: I am not a big sweets person. So when my manager brought in a slice of cake from Sammy's and I took one bite and immediately said, "I'm sorry... WHAT is this and where did it come from?!" I knew I needed to find this place ASAP. Fast-forward to my friend's birthday. I wanted to surprise her with something I already knew would be good, so I stopped by Sammy's on a Sunday to pick up a slice of red velvet cake. And since you already know I'm going to tell you about the parking vibes --parking is free and directly in front of the shop. We're talking park the car, take a few steps, and you're inside. We love to see it! The young man who greeted me was incredibly kind and helpful. I picked out a generously sized slice of red velvet cake and also noticed they still had some cupcakes available. I'd heard Sammy's can be pretty popular, so I was happy there were some left! Naturally, I grabbed those too and went with the red velvet and strawberry. I thought the pricing was very reasonable for what I received. If I remember correctly, everything came to around $25 and some change. The cupcakes came three to a pack, and the cake slice itself was a really nice size, so I felt like the value matched the quality and portions. Most importantly, the birthday surprise was a success! Everyone loved the cupcakes, and I was so happy with my decision to come here. Again, this is coming from someone who doesn't even have much of a sweet tooth, so the fact that ONE BITE of somebody else's cake was enough to send me looking for Sammy's should tell you everything you need to know. Free parking. The parking lot is a chaotic mess depending on the day and time you go. Everyone is always so nice. You walk into a cake, cupcake, and cheesecake heaven. One of my favorite desert shops on the south side. The cheesecakes are delectable. My personal fave is the key lime flavor but they have specialities like Oreo, New York style, sweet potato and many many more. The richness in each bite is to die for and their ingredients all pair so well with one another. The space is small and somewhat congested so they can't accommodate many bodies. OMG!!! How did I not know about this place - stopped in today for a slice...totally overwhelmed by the variety. Sweet young lady behind the counter - greeted us, let us take sometime to figure what we wanted - TikTok video is what brought me here - the shop is nice and clean ...a buy and go kinda place - nothing fancy ...but the cheesecake though!!!! It was phenomenal. The texture was dense but not heavy, and the fresh fruit topping provided a perfect, subtle sweetness that didn't overpower the cheesecake itself. Thankfully when we arrived there wasn't a line as I was warned I could have to wait. It's a fairly small shop but with all the cake slices lined up at the counter for your choosing. Saw this place on yelp and decided to give it try. The service wasn't the best, the girl didn't seem like she really wanted to be talking to people. I tried their cakes instead the caramel drip was ok, I didn't really taste caramel through the cake just the drizzle on top I would rate it 5/10, I wouldn't order it again.
